Our food is an exploration of place, tradition, and change, an attempt to answer this question: what would regional northeast cuisine look like? Unlike southern food, which has a strong and identifiable tradition, the food of New York, the Catskills, and the Hudson River Valley has been continually reinterpreted by a dozens of different cultures. What we have had consistently is an amazing region for growing vegetables and livestock, an abundant supply of fish and oysters and mushrooms and maple syrup. At Parish Hall, we'll take advantage of this abundance with one eye on the various traditions of the area and another on the exciting neighborhood we cook and serve in and try to find food that expresses its place and its time
"Parish Hall was good, but not as good as other Brooklyn restaurants I have tried lately. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant just wasn't bustling, so it didn't feel as much of a hot spot as I had anticipated. Servers were nice and the food was good, but there is really nothing to draw me back."

"We came for brunch, which was excellent. We were a large group--8 people with kids, and they accommodated us. The tables are kid friendly with crayons and blank sketchbooks from the next door sketchbook project library. It has a wonderful neighborhood vibe. The hostess was our only disappointment...we waited an hour to be seated for a reservation. They seemed unable to process the demand of brunch goers, but maybe this is a growing pain that will iron itself out. The service otherwise was friendly and efficient."

"Food is amazing but pretty overpriced. And watch out -- they'll charge you for the most expensive glass of wine on the menu when you don't ask for it. I wasn't impressed."

"Nice neiborhood place. We were first once at the place (party of 2) and the waiter still got part of our orders wrong. Food was good, nothing special or to wow about."

"This restaurant was recently rated in New York Magazine's Best of New York issue as the best choice for brunch. While it was good, we didn't think it was anything special."

"second visit there, and again was highly impressed by everything. Service friendly but not overwhelming. Menu is not expansive, but carefully thought out, and food scrumptious. Cocktails well-created and tasty. I look forward to my next visit!"

"The food was really great. Farm to table and they are proud of it. Long lines for brunch but unlike other places-they take reservations so we were sat immediately. The service was pretty bad-but maybe it was just our waiter. It took us 25 minutes to get a drink and we had to ask twice. The waiter made it seem like he was doing us a favor to "rush" the bartender. EXCELLENT French toast. Awesome meats-sausage, bacon and the patty melt were all delicious. The worst part was the table of obnoxious 20-something's gabbing about all their guy problems next to us. If we wanted to watch GIRLS, we'd stay on our couch and turn on HBO."

"Egg without the crazy wait. Great quality brunch options and great service. French press coffee is excellent too - adding espresso / lattes would be even better."

"the service at Parish Hall is so attentive and the staff is knowledgeable on the idea behind the restaurant. The food is clean and tasty. I had the patty melt, cooked to perfection, my dinner guest had the cod fish, savory, light and excellently paired with farm fresh vegetables. The cocktails are wonderfully blended as well."

"Weird atmosphere. Very sterile without feeling cool. I felt like I was at a public pool. From where I was sitting (left side banquette), to the front left corner would have been the pool. And behind the built wall to the right would have been the changing rooms. The food when good, was amazing. The "popovers" sadly were not popovers. They should be described as fritters, since they are deep fried and resemble nothing of popovers. The pickles were sad, soggy and disappointing. But everything else was delicious. Our server was really nice and knowledgeable. The bartender was terrible."

"the duck liver toast was amazing, the smoked trout, which was bought out by accident, was good, but i would definitely have the duck over the trout any day. the rabbit sausage was also good, but the chicken and egg was much better. chicken has plenty of flavor and the sunny side up egg and raisins were a great compliment. overall, all of the food was good, i just happened to have preferences. no complaints about the drinks, except the buttered rum was average, whereas the other drinks were amazing. worth a go, get there early and you'll have a great quiet place to dine."

"Nice place.. Brunch was very good.. but they need to get there service for Brunch shored up... not enough staff and they need to train there bus staff on how to help the wait staff if they want to keep the head count lean.
I do want to go back for dinner as I think the food was excellent."

"This is New American at its best. Fresh, unexpected ingredients; rich, complex tastes; pairings that you can't believe. We started with great cocktails--a yummy old-fashioned, the Brooklyn (still don't know what was in that, but delicious), and a couple of others. Amazing appetizers: apple parsnip soup with layered flavored and the warmth you want on a winter night; duck liver toast, squash toast, fried salsify for a completely different taste. A great mix of unusual flavored. Our waiter picked a great St. Joseph red for dinner. The duck was especially good, and the hen of the woods mushroom vegetarian dish was the big surprise--a really rich mix of vegetables Anchored by the flavorful mushroom. Great desserts, and you don't feel stuffed!"

"Meet some friends here on a Saturday afternoon. It wad bust but not too busy. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch and cocktails afterwards.I enjoyed the food and ambience- earthy modern. I appreciated how we were not rushed at all but were able to stay and converse for about 2 hours. Great food and great times!"

"The food and bartender were phenomenal. The waiter lacked energy and was not welcoming, brought wrong food, just not on par with the quality of the place. We had the same waiter a few times at Egg and were disappointed to see him again at Parish. Other than that, great place. I'm disappointed in general by the Willburg/Bushwick belief that a certain "look" is more important that skill or personality when it comes to serving."
