"The Mexican food at La Plancha is in our opinion the best we've had in Marin. The menu has a wide variety & the prices are reasonable. The Molé is delicious, the Tinga Chicken appetizers very tasty & the Enchilada Carnitas amazing.There is a wide selection of salsas - something for everyone. La Plancha even has a great choice of rices (our favorite the cilantro rice) along with a choice of beans. Vegetables are offered in several dishes (which is always refreshing) compared to many local Mex restaurants which don't offer any, for example Celia's! The drinks are tasty, potent but a little overpriced. It has become our favorite Mexican restaurant in Marin. Staff is friendly, check it out as soon as possible."

"Genereous servings,, moderate prices, and not to my taste, Margarita was the most bitter i have ever tasted. Enchallidas were hot and spicy and not very mexican .even tho server said they were't hot and spicy. They were to me.
Server was not responsvie to my requests and answered my questions inaccurately. Place seemed disorganized in general. Only bar part was open, which increased the noise level.
I do not plan to return in near future."

"The food and salsas were actually very good. A couple of us had the pork enchiladas with the mole sauce and thought it was great.
However, the service was slow and a bit disorganized. The place looked understaffed. It took a while to get water for the table and for our orders to be taken. When we finally got our drinks from the bar, our margaritas did not have the salt we had asked for.
For some reason, the main dining room was not open and all the patrons were crammed in the bar. I will return because the food was good but I don't know if it is at the top of my list."

"Really liked the salsa bar. the service was good. The food was not great, not bad, though we only had the fish tacos so there was lots on the menu we didn't try. The margaritas were a B-. Overall, we might go back again but will not hurry back."

"The food was excellent-we tried the chiles en nogada-a favorite when in Mexico but rarely on any menus here-and the enchiladas (the ones I make at home are incredibly good and the ones my husband got there were also very good!). Only disappointment was that our server did NOT tell us anything about the salsa bar and we did not get anything there. He did bring us chips and regular salsa, but we felt we really lost out by not getting to try some of the salsas that were offered."

"We enjoyed our dinner at the new La Plancha Mexican Grill. We ordered the guacamole dip as an appetizer, which was excellent and very generously portioned. We both ordered the combination dinner with chile releno, enchilada and taco. Again, portions were huge and quality very good. La Plancha has a salsa bar with a vast variety of yummy salsas from very mild to very spicy complimentary to diners. This is a good restaurant for casual dining and we will come again and try out some more adventurous items on the menu next time."

"A bad night, perhaps. A large, noisy party near us. Also the restaurant was playing music very loud. Carnitas overcooked on my side, my wife's babyback ribs, the same. I asked that in lieu of rice, I be given an extra portion of beans. That didn't happen, though at the end, when I pointed it out, they gave me more to take home. They had a cole slaw side, plus something else (couldn't figure out what that was) but it was inedible. Very sour, too much vinegar. I pointed it out to the waiter, he took some to the cook, and the cook agreed that they had overdone the vinegar. Not sure if I would give it another try. There are more dependable Mexican restaurants in the area."

"We have read the mixed reviews but wanted to give it a try. We found the staff very helpful and friendly and the food was fresh and very tasty. Nothing fancy but great new spot and very spacious so hopefully it will be an easy place to get in without a wait."

"i like the re-do of the old max's into la plancha. the service is excellent. it is obvious the management and staff are working hard to make it a very pleasant dining experience. the food is o.k. and it is obvious that the focus is very much on the 65 varieties of tequilas they carry.

It was one of the worst meals he has ever had, and I have to admit, he is right. My 7 year old refused

"Very poor dining experience. There isn't enough room to write all that went wrong and I dine out 5 nights a week and never have issues with service even when things may be off. This was horrible. I can sum it up this way. After drinks at the bar area went horribly wrong, the host was going to re-seat us for our reservation in the bar area. we said absolutely not as we didn't want the same waitress. This was in front of the manager who was standing with the host. He didn't intervene at all and ask what the probelm was etc. The entire dining experience with the service from a new waiter and the bartender just continued to be horrible. Based upon the managers failure to follwo up this is entirely a management issue. Food was just ok."

"This restaurant needs serious work to even reach even an adequate rating. Everything was very slow and disorganized, long waits for water, chips, drink and food. The food was not good. The rice and beans were acceptable, but the entres were almost unrecognizable as Mexican food. They have a salsa bar but don't give you chips or tortillas to eat it with. The tequila menu is bigger than the food menu. Maybe this restaurant will improve with age, but it has a long way to go."

"I have been eating at Max's Diner for the last 20 years, La Plancha has replaced that restaurant. The disappointment in the replacement is negative. As far as the service went we were given the wrong food, the cooked plantain felt and tasted like stiff cardboard. I won't eat here again."
