"Three pasta entrees - Lasagna (very nice), Ravioli (excellent), Pasta with scallops and spinach (very good). And the house made bread was really good also."

"The pasta was good, but the portions small. The house salad was good. The steak and the pizza were unremarkable. If you want bread, the restaurant charges an extra $2 for a very small boule of bread - a very cheap trick for a pasta restaurant. The service was abysmal. There were 6 people in our party. The restaurant added a 20% tip to the bill. Apparently, the wait person, being assured of her tip, had no motivation to attend to our table. The "sommelier" obviously had nothing to do as she talked loudly to the table next to ours for most of our meal, even sitting on the bench next to our guest and crowding into his space. It was very disruptive. We won't return."

"We dined at Pastavino on April 5, 2013 and had a fabulous meal. The baguette was outstandingly prepared as it was crisp, light, and very tasty. My husband ordered the Brodetto di Pesce and I ordered the Risotto ai Porcini. Both dishes were prepared supremely. I added some of the Brodetto broth to my Risotto which fully enhanced the deliciously prepared dish. We also had the soup of the day which was roasted chicken with onions and carrots. The broth was lovely and not overly salty.
The contemporary decor creates a very light and airy appeal. Though the upstairs was a bit loud at times, the downstairs appears to offer a quieter and more intimate setting.
Definitely a win and we will be back."

"New restaurant in what was Juanita's Mexican previously. Nice modern design, very good service. Fresh and organic ingredients. Caprese and bruschetta were both excellent and you could taste the freshness. Pizza's were wood fired baked. Crust thin and crips, freshly made. Only comment for the prosciutto pizza would be to add a bit more oil and garlic--seasoning as it was dry. Salami pizza was very good. Wide selection of wines by the glass and bottle. Excellent selection of grappas and amare for post dinner. Dessert menu had usual tiramisu. We had chocolate tarte which was very rich and tasty. Worth going to for an upscale dinner without the upscale price."

"Very nice setting, interesting menu. Quality of food was good. The wait staff was professional and attentive and we enjoyed our meals. The portions were adequate and I think it was a good value. While it did not bowl me over, I do not have anything negative to say about my experience. With so many other restaurants to choose from in Boulder, I don't feel the urge to have to go back."

"My sister and I were travelling to Boulder for a girls weekend and were looking for a good dinner spot for both of us (one vegetarian one non-vegetarian) and we saw PastaVino on yelp. The food was excellent and the service was even better. The young woman who took care of us was friendly and helpful. She definitely made the experience memorable and enjoyable. I wish I remember her name- all I remember is she was also from the Midwest! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends travelling to Colorado!"

"The food felt like it just fell a bit short of the potential it held. We started with the tomato bisque which was very good but our two pasta entrees were well-prepared, yet...bland. There was a trio of specialty salt on the table that definitely did enhance the flavor but I generally prefer my entrees to be more than just a canvas for salt. Overall we felt like we paid a bit much for a type of food we could have prepared more flavorfully at home."

"Being an Italian food snob, I was VERY impressed by Pastavino. I loved the portion sizes and their ability to bring home cooking flavors and mix them with a new age flare. Plate presence was beautiful and each dish presented on adjacent tables intrigued me as well. Although the wines by the glass list was short, it made it easy to find something simple that paired easily with my dish. Highlight of the evening was the Crema al Caramello. The slight hint of lemon gave this flavorful vanilla custard just what it needed to cap off the evening. Thank you for a great first dining experience."

"Not impressed. Service was dreadful - took 30 mins for our drinks order to be taken, then another long wait before drinks arrived. They got our starter orders wrong and then charged us $2 for a small bread roll. Food was highly average and over priced. Won't be going back."

"This last visit to PastaVino wasn't the best. Our server continually disappeared on us and the food was so-so. Typically we have a good experience. It was faster to go the bar to buy drinks and ask other servers for help."

"We came here for the Denver Restaurant Week with a group of seven. The restaurant is nice and we were immediately greeted, but after that initial greeting we were mostly ignored for the first half hour. After our order was taken it took about another 30 minutes before they came with food, which then turned out to be our main course but we hadn't received our appetizers yet. Once the appetizers did arrive, about another 15 minute wait, the meal from there out was good. The food was very good, and had it not been for the poor service on the front side of the visit I would give this restaurant much higer ratings."

"Organic goodness, but still need to figure out details. The service was excellent. The hostess and staff were on top of it. Huge, organic menu is awesome! The food was good and portion sizes perfect. The timing between appetizer, salad, and entree was off. There was a huge wait between salad and entree. I thought some of the meal was over salted, but for the most part a good new restaurant. The decor is fun and modern. The lighting on the booth side needs to be dimmed. It is bright and fluorescent, which doesn't fit with the ultra sleek, but relaxed vibe. We were also near the kitchen and the door kept squeaking loudly. Not romantic. I think there is a lot of potential here, but they still need to work out some of the bugs."

"Although this was my first time at this restaurant, Clearly they were having an off night. We were seated on time but that was the last thing that went well. After an hour in our seats we still had no food, and we had ordered the a la carte bread. Finally got the bread, and then our tepid appetizers that had obviously been sitting out for some time. Never got our main dish and finally left, after talking with the manager. He apologized for their off night and gave us a gift card to return when they are better equipped and back on their game."

"First time here on a busy Friday evening during Denver restaurant week. Spacious, lively, good value. Enjoyed the frito misto, pasta with lamb ragout, and pistachio creme brulee, among other dishes. Good Italian wine choices at reasonable prices --- a rich red Pupille at $51. Nicely present beers, e.g. Avery IPA."

"Took 20 min for the bread and it was $2 extra on top of 5280 menu! Also they ran out of all but one dessert. Knowing it was 5280, I think they were not prepared."

"This is our second visit to Pastavino. The first was shortly after it opened and we noted several shortcomings. This time it was much better; Pastavino appears to be getting it's act together. The food and wine were good and reasonably priced. However, the service was so-so, whether because they were understaffed or undertrained. We ordered bread, but cancelled it half way through our meal when it still hadn't arrived. No apologies were forthcoming. And, generally, we felt neglected by our waitress. One thing we noted on both visits is the feeling that they want to turn the tables as fast as possible. We'll probably continue to dine here for the food & wine, but not go here with friends if we want a leisurely meal."

"Went for 5280- frico app was good, leek soup was bland at best. Sage butter ravioli were good but very al dente. Prime rib was a little tough decent flavor. Polenta was flavorless. They have a dish of salt on table. Suggest you use it liberally. Dessert chocolate torte thing was pretty good. Pistachio cream brûlée was so unset we had to eat it with a spoon, just ran off the fork. Service was ok. A little pretentious. Nice ambience but really loud. Overall mostly disappointed because the menu looked and sounded so good I was looking forward to going back but really don't think I will."

"Love the non alcoholic drinks at Pastavino- very smart & creative. It's great to have grown up options that are fresh and delicious and not too sweet. When it's not a night for a glass of wine for some reason- it's great to have options other than diet coke & iced tea. Thank you!"

"Food was good but portions were quite small for the price. Glad we ordered a salad to start, but still had to add dessert in order to feel full. They could help alleviate the small portions by at least serving some nice fresh bread as a starter (rather than pencil-thin bread sticks)."

"A great Italian restaurant in the hub of Boulder. Very good value meal with a large selection of food and a great wine and beer list. The portions were great for me who hates leaving a restaurant stuffed. I prefer to have a portion that leaves me satisfied.
The prices were very reasonable for the food that was as high in quality as the neighboring restaurants (Kitchen, Salt) without the pretentious prices."

"I was hopefully after looking at the menu and cool renovation of this spot. We were sadly disappointed at the service. The server forgot multiple drink orders, the food came out at different intervals and we waited a really long time for each course. Such a bummer!"

"Notable Beer List (why isn't that a check-box option?)
The appetizers were great. The entrees were twists on standard Italian dishes. Some were great, others were fine. We didn't have a consistent "oh wow!" with each, but it was still a very nice night out and I'll go again (the beer list helps ;-) ). I liked the atmosphere a great deal too, and it was surprisingly less noisy than I expected for an open area."

"Very nice downtown Boulder restaurant. Contemporary high end decor with an upbeat hip atmosphere. We were seated immediately upon our arrival at our reservation time. The waitress came over within the first five minutes and greeted us and gave us the wine list and told us she would be right back to get our drink order. Twenty minutes later when she still hadn't returned, I went to the bar to order two glasses of wine for my wife and I. When she returned she was very appologetic and explained she had a computer problem with another table's bill and later offered to comp our drinks and dessert. Needless to say the service didn't really improve the rest of the meal. It appeared that she was overwelmed and couldn't handle it."

"Enjoyed the restaurant. Excellent pasta selections and superb pizza. Good win list as well. On the night we visited, they unfortunately were having a rough time of it from a staffing perspective. However, our server Rebecca did an outstanding job keeping things flowing as best she could despite the other challenges the restaurant was experiencing that evening. We would definitely return."

"We went to Pastavino for the Valentine's Day special menu. The food was great, but the service was horrible. We had to flag down our waitress every single time we wanted anything. The only time she came to our table of her own accord was for our drink orders and to collect the check after we had paid. I felt terrible for the table next to us: they were seated before us, but we got our food before them for every course, and they were still waiting for one of their entrees when we left. For the price we paid, the service was way below satisfactory. Unfortunate, because the restaurant had a lot of potential. I was so disappointed in a meal that was supposed to be something special."

"My daughter and I attended Pastavino on February 14th for Valentine's Day lunch. We made a reservation only to find upon arrival that the restaurant was closing early at 3 for the evening rush. Although that was fine with us, the owner of the restaurant made sure as the last four people in the restaurant that we were not forgotten and enjoyed a lunch which consisted of pasta dishes, two cups of expresso, and a dessert. The owner comped the dessert and expresso for us and that was very appreciated. My daughter's and I had overall impressions that Pastavino's employees and owner were very friendly, the food was good, and we enjoyed the warm atmosphere which definately assures a return."

"Loud, vibrant and energetic restaurant. Love the decor of this restaurant, but the food does not live up to the ambiance. This was our second visit to this local eatery and the experience was pretty much the same as our first visit: slow service, pasta that was a pile of glop on plate, poorly cooked scallops--restaurant ran out of crab meat--rubbery budino (Bavarese al Cioccolato) and grainy gelato. How does a restaurant that supposedly specializes in pasta & italian fare, get it so wrong???"

"We walked in for a 7:15 reservation on a weekend night on time, but they could not seat us right away. We were also initially refused to sit at the bar for it was for dinner patrons only.
They eventually gave us a corner spot at the bar and gave both my girlfriend and I a glass of bubbly on the house to make up for the unexpected wait. When we did sit down, around 7:30, there was a plate of calamari waiting for us, again to make up for the unexpected wait. The food was phenomenal as well as the service."

"Very empty. At 2 on Sunday afternoon for most of our lunch we were the only ones in the place. Margharita pizza great. My Penne Arrabiata was good although the pasta was not evenly heated. The sauce was hot (temperature) with just the right amount of heat (spice) My companions enjoyed the Spinach Rav. However that was the second choice. No clams to make Spaghetti Vongole. Also apparantly the foamer on the coffee maker was broken so couldn't get a cappucino."

"Great energy and lovely food. Soup & Saturday crab/pasta weekly dinner delightful. Waiter had just the right balance of letting us gab away catching up while at the same time checking in on us and getting our orders in and food out. Can't wait to return and try something else. So many delicious options!"
