Gabardine is a neighborhood kitchen serving up a variety of seasonal, local products grown right in Point Loma. Dishes are paired with craft beers, interesting wines & signature cocktails.
"We went for the Sunday Brunch which just happened to be on Father's Day. We had reservations and were seated immediately, but it did not appear we needed them. Very good attentive service. Not a huge selection, but what we had was very good. Started with endless mimosas and a bloody mary which were pretty good. Doughnut holes with dipping sauces to share. Warm, but not too filling to follow with the main meal. We had the special Phili Cheesesteak Omelets, very tender filet mignon and Crab Omelets. Had the truffle fries instead of cottage potatoes. Not a problem with our server to substitute. Would like to go back for Happy Hour and dinner now. Not a big place and very casual with easy parking. We would recommend this restaurant."

"Just a great experience. The food was terrific, beautifully presented, staff was friendly and knowledgable. It's a small restaurant, which I prefer, noise level made conversation with dinner guests pleasant. Gabardine will be remembered when we next visit San Diego."

"First of all my 2 friends and I met 2 of the chefs in the parking lot. They recommended the mussels and told us they were going to send us over a treat. Once we got seated our server brought us some delicious brussels sprouts that they said were compliments of the chef. We ordered the mussels which were good, but they came with only one piece of bread so we asked for 2 more pieces. The rest of our meal was unremarkable. Imagine our surprise when we got the bill not only were we billed for the "complimentary" brussels sprouts, we were billed $2.50 for the extra 2 slices of bread. Will definately not return."

"We enjoy returning here and dining here. The tomato salad was divine, the oysters fresh, tasty and just the right chewiness, the carafe sizes of their wines made a two wine dinner experience delightful. We enjoy thi place so much more than the overcrowded Herringbone."

"Bottomless mimosas for $10? I'm there! I had a deal from NBC-The Goods-$20 for $40. It made for a great value. I had the crab omelet which was excellent-very fresh and sweet crab. The potatoes on the side were perfectly cooked and it was a good portion for the price. We met the sous chef and he gave us a sticky bun on the house=)I live in the East County so it isn't exactly convenient, but I would definitely dine here again."

"Sam did his usual great job of making us feel at home. The staff is a great part of the reason we return, they are so friendly and great at their jobs. Which of course is serving great food. We started with the Mushroom Sauté, very good and a good portion for two. I had the Baquetta bass and it was delicious and my sister had the burger with avocado and jalapeños and it was very good."

"It was a girls night out. Service was great. Everyone very friendly and accommodating. We like a leisurely dinner with lots of conversation. We were never rushed. Great deal on wine the night we went. Only problem they ran out of the wine we were drinking. But not to fear we found another that was even better Price and quality of the food was excellent. Love it .. Will be back."

"Four of us dined at Gabardine, and 2 of us had been to all of the Malarky restaurants. While we received wonderful service we probably will not return. I had the lobster special with pork, fingerling potatoes and more. While tasty, the portion was small and not enough sauce & starch or veggies. The brussel sprouts were yummy though light on toppings - not enough gorgonzola. My husband's Wild Baquetta was small also. My niece's Fruits de Mer did not come with any bread to soak up the sauce which was the yummiest part of any dish served. Her boyfriends Pork tenderloin was fair. The highlight of the evening was Gabby's Little Helper. What an amazing cocktail. Yummmmmmy."

"My only objection is the $2 charge for what turned out to be dry pieces of toast. Prices are quite high at Gabardine, and I think that the bread should be complementary. The food was quite delicious, of course. We had lobster and bisque and the lobster/potato/clam special last Thursday evening. A delightful dinner."

"What a nice surprise! Met a girlfriend for dinner and was greeting by a wonderful server, Pilar, and had an outstanding experience. Half price wine on Tuesdays too. We shared a fresh green and grapefruit salad, scallops, entre with lobster side with truffle fries - YUM. We chatted for 2 hours, never felt rushed or uncomfortable. Definitely will go again! Have been to both Seersucker and Herringbone - love Gabardine!"

"Three generations of ladies for Mother's Day brunch. It was a beautiful day made even better by Gabardine. The endless Mimosa's are incredible and had us all gabbing away. We had a fantastic time and everything was delicious. My oldest daughter who has been drawn by the culinary arts for some time, was ecstatic to see that Brian Malarkey is the chef and that he was there."

"Fair tasting food. Needs some refinement - could take a lesson from Sear Sucker. Drinks were excellent, albeit pricey (standard for a swanky restaurant). Can't say it left a huge impact on me. Might return one day if I'm in the area."

"This was a return visit. We liked it so much the first time and wanted to see if they retained the standards they had set for our mouths and our minds. Indeed they have. Had we known that Tuesdays were also 59% off on selected (very good) wines, we might have come back even sooner. Well done Gabardine."

If you like your omelets dry and spongy with a minimum of crab or seasoning and a few slices of avocado thrown on top and served with greasy, overcooked deep-fried potato chunks and the burnt scraps from the bottom of the fryer, you'll love Gabardines brunch crab omelet. And don't miss the eggs benedict on burnt slices of chibatta and blackened bacon all forlorn on a trendy rectangular plate with nothing else but hollandaise … no potatoes (but why would you want the ones they provide) and thankfully, no squeeze bottle squirts of decorative embellishments. This place is riding high on the rep of local hero fabric- fixated cooking show minor celebrity. Why I can't imagine."

"First time trying out for brunch. The shell fish dish was great. Mussels and clams were so big and plump and fresh. We were full otherwise would order bread to soap up the juice! The fish and chips were outstanding. Fresh cod and batter was exquisite. Fries with truffle well done ....can't stop eating ! The crab omelette was nothing exciting/special."

"Gabardine was highly recommeded to us by our kids who live in San Diego. Upon arriving at the Bar I ordered a "Top Shelf" Margarita but they did not have any Grand Marnier. My back up is a Chevas Regal Scotch which they also did not have. Our evening did NOT get off on a positive note. The Bartender was great. . not his fault but how can a Restaurant like Gabardine NOT have Grand Marnier????? Our dinner was OK but our server was outstanding!"

"Gaberdine is not like some of the other "Fabric" restaurants, it is much more casual, less pretentious and a little easier on the budget. The room is pretty bland, minimalist and definitely does not have the feel of going somewhere "nice" (think Chipolte decor).
We all enjoyed our meals but was annoyed that my "Steak Oscar" described with asparagus and crab did not have any asparagus or crab but just a dollop of mayonnaise on the top with a little bit of chopped asparagus and some crab seasoning. The steak was cooked perfectly but when I asked where the crab was, I was told that it was "just a play on being an Oscar". It was $34 and a very tiny steak, I think I deserved some crab with my Steak Oscar."

"We visited Gabardine on Sunday for the brunch; Lindsay was our server and she made our Sunday into a fabulous event. Excellent customer service which was topped off by some amahzing dishes...we had the caprese with the powdered olive oil which was so divine and that transitioned into the pork chop with cheesy grits and eggs; wow, this dish was so good. We finished off with the Pt.Loma French Toast am I am still reeling from the flavors of cinnamon, cream cheese, and the most delictable maple syrup I have ever had. The bottomless mimosas were alittle on the warm flat side, and we had to find a chair that was not totally uncomfortable, but everything else, including the Tahitian Tea was really fabulous!"

"Inconsistent after two visits. First visit was excellent across the board. Second visit, not so much. $27 for a very small portion of flat iron steak (and French fries) is pushing it for a neighborhood bistro type restaurant even assuming everything is perfect. My steak frites seemed to have waited in the window for quite a while and showed it at the table (presumably because it was waiting for my gf's fish, which was hot and well cooked). All portions were quite small (even the fries). Brussels sprouts were exceptionally good. Server's glowing recommendation for their California pinot turned out to be an average example of a 'hot' central coast style wine. Underwhelming (like the server). Need to fine tune your game a bit Mr. Malarkey..."

"This place blew our minds! It was an excellent dining experience complete with excellent food and lots of adult beverages! About the only caveat I would put on the food is the delicious eggs benedict were not large in portion size (I was warned!) An overall excellent choice for the Sunday brunch action. Thank you Gabardine, it will not be our last visit!"

"Food was decent, but overpriced. The restaurant was so noisy my party of four could hardly hear one another. We left without even ordering dessert because it was over the top noisy. Not the type of place to go to if you would like to have any type of conversation. I was not impressed and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"There were 3 of us, my food was very mediocre, my daughter's omelet was very good with good presentation and my son's eggs benedict was good although they were out of the bacon??
The service was horrible and even after asking for the manager who never came it took 35 minutes to receive our food although there was only one other table in the whole restaurant?
We were never greeted until i requested twice that we get a menu or talk to a server and it still took 20 minutes.
Very disappointed especially for a company that has so many restaurants and famous chef's."

"Food was great but it took an hour for us to get our food. We were a party of 11 & we had brunch reservations & were told ey let a cook go home early. Not sure why you'd do that with a big group. I ordered bottomless mimosas but was told they can't be served after 2:00. In all fairness he did served me another mimosa but they shouldn't offer bottomless after a certain time. When our food was served, they did forget one of our kids entrees & had to go back & make it. Again, in all fairness they were very quick to bring the last meal but should have been comped that meal. Also when others asked us if we needed anything other than our server, we never got it. Our server had to do everything with no help. Server was pleasant."
