"As always the food was excellent. The service was good - they seemed a little over-extended. But - the music was so loud that it was painful. Despite twice asking that it be turned down, it was never low enough to be able to have a comfortable conversation and I left with a headache. I like the actual music that was playing but the volume was too much. Sadly, this will make me think twice before going there again."

"We were really looking forward to Marjorie. We had heard great things, and we live just a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately, we won't return. We appreciate fine dining, and while Marjorie is trying to be that, it falls short. The food was ok, but it definitely wasn't worth what we paid. The dishes we tried had too many components (and all of the main courses had a long list of ingredients). It felt like the chef was trying to have seventeen things per dish, and they didn't work well together. We struggled to finish our meals. The service was also lacking, with huge waits for water or for our check (even after our plates were cleared)."

"Marjorie is my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. The owner is wonderful, and makes everyone feel at home. I have been back several times, and have never had a "miss". The ambience is intimate and uncrowded, and best of all, not too noisy (as so many other Seattle hip spots are). The small bar feels just right for two, but is only an elbow away from the small dining area, and maintains an open feel. The bartenders are attentive, yet just detached enough to enhance the intimacy of the space, and the cocktails are mighty fine. Marjorie peaks when the weather is nice, allowing for additional outdoor seating in the adjoining courtyard, which Seattlites crave."

"We followed Marjorie from her Belltown location. We were heartbroken when Belltown closed several years ago, but equally elated when we found her new restauarant on Capital Hill. The evening we went was 75 degrees with a light breeze, which added to the enjoyment of her open air theme. Food was artistic, well prepared with great flavors. We' will go back again and again."

"Marjorie is flanked by Zoe and Skillet. It has the intimacy that Zoe lost with its move to Capitol Hill and the delicate yet still hearty food that can't be found at Skillet. The waitstaff is intimate without being annoying or cloying and really knows their food. I don't drink alcohol, but my companions usually do and give high praise to the bartender. The Back Room is a great place for gatherings of five or more and can accommodate up to 50 people. Find an excuse to host an event there!"

"Donna and her crew are bar none the best!! My guests from Singapore and Portland were wooed by our server, the freshest meats, vegetables and scallops. Appetizers that we couldn't stop ordering and the bread pudding. Well all they could say was this is "To die for" Lovin' Marjorie's!"

"We had a terrific experience at Marjorie on Saturday. First time for all four of us since they moved to their new space and we loved it. Great food, great service, wonderful cozy atmosphere, all was perfect. The Mad Hatcher Chicken was fantastic as were the Scallops. Service was exceptional which is a lost art in many of the "hip" places that are in Seattle. Also really appreciate the ease and availability of making a reservation with Open Table, life is always better when you can get a reservation. The patio is looks like it will be a top favorite if summer ever gets here!"

"I did visit during restaurant week so I should have assumed I'd get really scimpy plates, but an appetizer salad that literally had 7 pieces of baby lettuce goes a bit too "scimpy". The menu selections were about 1/2 of the menu that was posted on the Seattle Restaurant week site."

"My boyfriend and I went for Restaurant Week. The portions were tiny and the food was bland. The cocktails were okay but way overpriced. Marjorie charged $14 plus a $2 additional charge for an old fashioned. $16 for an old fashioned?! Absolutely ridiculous! Not even my favorite, renowned cocktail bars charge that much for an old fashioned! After our $96 check at Marjorie, we went down the street to Piecora's for a slice because we were still hungry after the tiny portions. What's more, the table next to us was expressing similar dislike of the food and the drinks. We will not go back."

"Fun lively environment for a group of friends. There's a great cocktail list. The food was good. The wine list is frustrating. The atmosphere is very casual with some tables shared with strangers yet the wine list was bait and switch with nothing under $50, after being told the $24 red was "an outdated menu." Come on its really not that kind of high end restaurant. The wine selection should match the food and ambience, and offer somthing inder $30 otherwise it just leaves a bad taste overall. I probably won't go back any time I feel like having wine with dinner, which is pretty much always- otherwise I would. Also is separate checks for three couples really that hard?"

"Small and charming, with interesting food which ranges from Caribbean to Indian with a southern accent. Minor complaints are: noisy, crowded, and mediocre wine list. Overall though, the experience works, and it becomes an interesting and memorable evening out."

"Our party of six enjoyed fabulous food and service, including attention from the owner herself. Based on other reviews we made a reservation and requested a table in the front room. The front staff had to scramble to make that happen, but they were very gracious about it and we had a lovely time."

"First visit to Marjorie and will definitely return! Cute, romantic and cozy, we sat at the bar and watched the activity in the kitchen and enjoyed the ambiance. The plantains with scallop ceviche were very tasty, and the clams with house made chorizo were so amazing, we didn't want them to end -- even sopped up as much of the tasty juice as possible with a lovely fresh baguette. They also stock a number of local distillery offerings -- the drinks we ordered were excellent."

"We always love our experience at Marjorie. If you have a big group I recommend the chef selection family style meal. Plenty of food and you get to try a lot of wonderful dishes. Their chicken tikka masala starter is still the best curry we've had in Seattle!!"

"We enjoyed our dining experience immensely. The roll up doors were open to the small patio, eclectic intimate space with terrific color, very European feel. Service was great. While the food was very good, I think it would be more the ambience that would draw me back again. The wine list was a bit pricey. Loved the plaintain chips to start and the cheese plate was good. Liked all the shared plates we tried except the beet salad which was mediocre. Entrees were very good but not gotta-go-back-for-this good. Still, we will definitely be back."

"Very nice dinner in the back room. Quieter space where you get more elbow room and less noise, but also less of Marjorie's vibrant ambiance. Staff is fun and friendly and the appetizers and entrees are all solidly delicious, though the wow factor is a level below some of the bigger name restaurants nearby."

"I had a 7 pm reservation and my party of 4 arrived on time. There were 3 open tables(2 tops) when we arrived. The hostess told us that we would have to wait 10-15 minutes and to order a drink at the bar. We ordered our drinks after finally getting the bartenders attention. Then we were told our party had to wait outside (it's March and cold) for our table. She told us she would bring our cocktails out-she never did. We had to go back in and get them. Someone else told us they would bring us prosecco for our trouble. They never brought Prosecco. We did receive complimentary plaintains while we waited in the cold. When they finally sat us (7:30 pm), the 3 open tables, were still open. They should have pushed 2 of them together originally."

"Marjorie's was an overall good restaurant. The service by the waiter left a lot to be desired but who I assume to be the overall manager for the night was fabulous- he anticipates needs and helped make room for all in a small space. I would most likely go back just next time without my children."

"One waiter for all tables; consequently, our service was extremely slow (post-entree, empty plates sat on our table for about 15 minutes). Bruschetta app was very tasty. Scallops entree was quite yummy, although skimpy quantity for the price. My beef was moderately tasty, but the charred grilling was not appealing. Cocktails were excellent. They need to figure out a better system for the host/hostess desk and greeting/seating guests."

"We have been wanting to try this place for some time on the recommendation of some industry friends. In short, cocktails were top notch, appetizers were very tasty, entrees were bland (Lobster Spaetzle and Mad Hatter Chicken), desserts were average. The chicken had no flavor and the skin was soggy and unseasoned. The biggest disappointment was the service. It started out great but ended poorly. After our entrees were served we did not see our waitress for almost 40 minutes. She did not return to ask us how our meal was tasting (if she did, we would have requested salt and pepper). We noticed during this time the wait staff were sitting at the bar drinking and eating, including our waitress. Not great for a $160 meal."

"Loved our experience here. The waitress was really nice & helpful on what to order. The cheese plate was very good but kind of small. The plaintain chips were also good - we got a half order which was still more than we could eat. The ravioli was delicious & the burger was one of the best my husband has had. The Trenchtown cocktail was scrumptious! Had to have a 2nd one. The place is small with the tables very close together, (my only complaint) but we got there early & didn't have to have someone next to us. Would return for sure."

"Fabulous dinner that had my friends oohing and aahing over nearly every bite. The scallops were perfect, the steak had my friend from DC suggesting we come back on Friday night for more and as always Donna rocks the desserts. The brioche bread pudding had us putting our fingers in the plate to get that last bit of caramel sauce. Fun, lively, hip setting that I always make as a stop to bring out of town guests."
