5Church New American cuisine served in a casual yet refined atmosphere. Cutting edge design, world class food and stellar service are all to be expected.
"My co-workers took me to 5 Church to celebrate my birthday during lunch. I've eaten here during dinner and had a nice experience, so I figured it would be very similar at lunch. I was wrong. It was a Monday afternoon and pretty slow. The food was good, but the service was a bit substandard. Our waitress was nice, but I would have expected a bit more personality and better customer service, especially since we were the largest table in the restaurant. I would not recommend others to eat lunch there for a business lunch because of the lack of customer service. If they could only get their customer service down pat, this would be my good to place for business lunch Uptown."

"My mother and I really enjoyed our dinners - the Salmon with a miso sauce was over the top and the Duck Breast w/ Chard & Latke was outstanding. The rest of our party of 7 had different steaks with horseradish mashed potatoes and roasted veg. The veg wwew carrots that were undercooked and hidden in the potatoes that were lacking much horseradish. The dish lacked color and flair and we were a little disappointed although the steaks were delicious. The mussels for appetizer were very good as well. Our reservation was at 7:15, we did not have our bottle of wine until 8:00, bread until well after the order was taken it was 9:00 before dinner was served. Overall service was very slow on a quiet night, I can't imagine when they are busy!"

"I was surprised at this little gem. We went for brunch before a show and the food and service was fantastic. Our waiter was nice enough to ask if we needed to be somewhere and made sure our brunch came out in a reasonable amount of time.
The interior was very nicely decorated and had a warmth about it.
We cannot wait to try this for dinner."

"A very cool trendy restaurant. The food (summer menu) was very good. We got the grouper that served on a bed if roasted vegetables. The noise level was very loud. There were lots if groups of girls and a busy bar. The service was okay."

"The bar and lounge at 5Church was bustling, provided a vibrant energy for the restaurant. Drinks were great and the 60 second NY strip melts in your mouth. We had a great time!"

"I absolutely love the decor and vibe at 5church, but do not think it will be very high on my list for dining uptown in the future since the food seems to have really gone downhill. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but my salad came out with old, wilty greens and missing the best ingredients (goat cheese and wine-poached pears). The fries were burnt. And everything else was not objectionable but just ok. The service was attentive and pleasant, but the kitchen needs some help."

"Loved the energy- both of the staff and restaurant itself. The dining selections offered something for every palate, presented beautifully, delicious and truly a treat for the senses! A great place for groups and casual gatherings. One of Downtown Charlotte's Best Gems!"

"I was blown away from the moment I stepped in the door. The hostess was very friendly and set me quickly. The service was exeptional and the pairing of my food and drinks were on point. The food arrived very quickly and was some of the best I've had in Charlotte. Dessert was delicious and paired with gourmet house espresso, I couldn't gave ended the experience better. I will definitely be back!"

"Ate Mother's Day brunch there and restaurant was surprisingly uncrowded. The menu was varied and the service was excellent. the upstairs where we were seated was dark for day time but quiet. The food was well prepared and the presentation was very nice. The only negative we had was that although the presentation of the entrees was impressive, the quantity of food on one of the entrees was extremely small and really wasn't enough to fill one of the dinners."

"Visiting Charlotte for a show I had dinner or four at 5Church. Overall it was fine and we had a nice time.
Nice atmosphere and the server was attentative. The food was good but I was hoping for a little more pop. Pretty small wine list but we were able to find a few that we liked.
I'd go back- for all I know this is as good as it gets - but first I'd try some of the surrounding places."

"I was in Charlotte for a trade show and I took 5 associates here for dinner. EVERYONE in the party thought this place was great, including me. First of all, the decor is certianly unique and there's lot's to catch your eye. From teh moment we sat down, the service was first-rate. We all shared a few appetizers and had wine and/or drinks, all of which were enjoyed by everyone. The menu has numerous fine choices so it was pretty easy to find something different that pleased all the folks in the group. They have a great wine list and the deserts were an excellent final touch to a great meal. If you want to impress friends, a date or yourself, then get over to this place ASAP!!"

"Food and service were great. Many interesting choices on the menu, as well as classics dishes. My only criticism is that the atmosphere is very intense and loud. It seems great for upscale groups, but not quiet dinner and conversation."

"My first time here as we visited Charlotte. I was pleased with the gluten free options, although there was no separate menu. The waitstaff weren't too knowledgeable so I was very specific with my needs. They happily complied and I was delighted with my dinner. I will recommend 5Church to others seeking GF dining in Charlotte."

"Of the four small plates we shared, only the mussels stood out as being good or up to expectations (of the menu description and reviews from friends). They were wonderfully cooked and had a nice heat to the tomato broth. The lobster mac and cheese, beat slider, and perogies were each average to bad (with the mac and cheese having an odd flavor that we didn't find appealing). Great, attentive service and a hip, cool aesthetic does increase the overall experience of 5Church."

"Great decor, we were very fascinated by The Art of War hand painted on the ceiling. It was extremely loud which was a big turn off but food and service were good. Don't sit facing the street, the lights from turning cars were shining in my eyes the entire meal. Also, not a good look to see someone stand on the bar (where glasses were set up) to get a bottle off of a high shelf."

"I have heard tons about this restaurant and like it, but I do not love it! It is not a place for you if you want to go and have a nice relaxing dinner. There is too much action and too much going on. We had 4 different courses and nothing was spaced out, liked we asked originally. Everything came nearly at the same time. We are not one's for sitting around a table too long when it's just me and the hubs, but they were in a hurry to get more of the "who's who in Charlotte" and who wants to be seen seated."

"Great food and service. Only complaint would be the swinging kitchen door upstairs-having to sit across from a bright light, because when it was closed it was a nice dim atmosphere. There was a curtain on one side, but not the other. Either shift the table out of the view, or add another curtain? Just a suggestion."

"The atmosphere was vibrant, energetic and noisy. Lots of people having a great time. Our server did an excellent job. I ordered the short ribs. I love salt but they were too salty for me. My husband, who always finishes my meals couldn't eat them at all. My husband and one of our friends got a fish dish (I believe it was flounder). It was just "ok". My other friend got one of the steak dishes. It was also just ok. To top it off, I got one glass of wine that seemed to be about half the pour I would have received at any other restaurant.
Not a place I would go back to unless maybe to sit at the bar and watch people."

"This was a trendy place. My husband is in his late 30's and I in my 40's thought the atmosphere was to be more of a place where we would have found ourselves at in our 20's and early 30's, with a group of people. We went for a date night and although glad we went we probably wont go back."

"Great newer Restuarant in Charlotte. Location is odd and has been many unsuccessful restaurants and bars. But 5church has potential to be successful. Great food. Space is nice and eclectic. Not outdoor dining due to location and sidewalk space. Service can be spotty but I've called the manager over and issues were rectified. Brunch menu is fantastic. Lamb burger is amazing. Late night they have a DJ and URS loud - so if you want a nice dinner go early."

"The service was slow. The drinks were weak (measured pours) and the food was only OK. Appetizers were great but entrees were only OK. The Lobster Mac 'N Cheese was horrible...tasted like a chemical, was dry, and had little lobster in it...not to mention that the portion was miniscule. Not sure I would go back for the money."

"We were there on a busy Friday night and had the halibut over corn special. It is a dish which could be pretty bland but this was quite flavorful. The service was excellent and the meal moved right along. An open area type venue, but we did not feel any particular lack of privacy. Noise was moderate and fortunately the back ground music wasn't any louder."
