Zoes Steak & Seafood
Located at the Virginia Beach oceanfront, Zoës originally opened in 2003, and re-opened under new ownership on March 16, 2009. Chef Jerry Weihbrecht has teamed with long time friend and renowned sommelier, Marc Sauter, as well as devoted restaurant goers Bill and Joni Greene, to continue the Zoës legacy with the same great location, friendly staff, soothing ambience, and award-winning food and spirits.
Together, their hope is to offer their guests a wonderful dining experience that has a comfortable, familiar atmosphere, yet that special touch of class that makes Zoës “the place to go when you absolutely must impress your guests.”
Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are always welcome. Sundays are reserved for private parties and Zoës Special Events.
Zoës is a completely non-smoking establishment.

"This was our second visit there. Consistently great food and great service. Excellent wine list with a staff that is well educated in helping with the wine list. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Zoes."

"We dined here for our anniversary and had an excellent meal with excellent service. We did the tasting dinner where you get an appetizer, a main, and a dessert and we felt that it was a nice way to try different menu items without overdoing it. We will definitely be dining here again."

"Very strange experience here; downright "odd". Reservation on a weeknight for 8 p.m. - I thought it was for 8:15. I get a call about 8:05 just as we were pulling into the parking lot, asking if I was coming... no valet, didn't matter, parking lot was empty. Went inside, restaurant was empty, too. 1 other table. We were seated around 8:07. Our drink order, appetizer and entree order were all collected at the same time. Drinks and lobster pops (awesome, 4 pieces) arrived together. When the server came to collect the empty app plates, entrees arrived. By 8:30 our entrees were served. I had a $20 glass of over-priced wine - never opoprtunity for 2nd glass; felt RUSHED entire time. Food was amazing but no way will I return."

"Zoes is small with dated decor and part of the dining area is close to the food pickup counter. Nevertheless, they have an excellent wine list, their service is most accommodating, and the dim lighting was perfectly in tune with our anniversary celebration. Their menu in their current incarnation has a substantial steak section, but the remainder covers the usual options in meat, chicken and seafood. Their local farm to table emphasis is expressed in their entree sides. The presentations are well structured, and demonstrate a deft touch with reductions and sauces. The food was well prepared, served hot, and the sparkling asti served for our aniversary toast was the perfect temperature. We'll go to Zoes again."

"Another wonderful experience. Service was spectacular. The food was fabulous, and was further enhanced with the wines pairings recommended by Marc. One of the enjoyable aspects with the wine pairing option is the time spent with Marc in describing tastes, preferences and whether you want to explore new territories. "Haven't been there in a while. It will be a long time before we return. With so many very good restaurants to choose from in this area, Zoe's will go to the bottom of the list again. The steaks were tasty, but the a la carte vegetable portions were pathetic. Service was just 'okay'. Not as attentive as it should be after the initial push to take the dinner order with little time to enjoy a cocktail or two."

"Valet parking was a must, which takes away the parking stress. Atmosphere was great, the bar had a wine tasting going so we couln't seat at the bar. One of us chose the 4 course dinner with wine pairing which was absolutely fantastic, every bite and sip was a bit a heaven. Every wine was presented with each course by professional sommeliers. The other one went with the shrimp tempura and lob pops. The service was cordial but a little forgetful even though it was a Monday and the place was not full. Overall experience was positive and we are planning to go back again and again when in the area, since the price was fair and the experience superb."

"This was our first time to Zoes, and we were dazzled by the entire experience. My daughter and I loved the variety of tastes, the tenderness of our steaks, and the overall Zoes experience. I am NOT usually one who enjoys steak, but I rooled the dice, and was delighted by my tenderloin, which was cooked to perfection. The seasoning on the asparagus was flavorsome, and of course, we both thoroughly enjoyed the blue crab mac and cheese on the side."

"We've been to Zoe's twice and our experience was excellent both times. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and there is a sommelier on hand to help you pick out the perfect wine to go with your meal. The food is excellently prepared and served promptly but not so fast that you feel like you are being rushed. Reservations are definitely recommended because it's a small restaurant and fills up quickly--especially on the weekends. Definitely one of Virginia Beaches best foodie spots."

"We had dinner there Friday night, two couples; both couples ordered the dinner special for two. The salads and the appetizers where very good, but that is where it ends, the steaks where tough, with very little favor. One member of our group could hardly cut his steak. What a joke. They did comp one round of drinks, thanks. We will not be back."

"My wife and I went on valentines day so it was busy. We ate off the special menu and it was fantastic. There were some delays with food coming to the table, but for the number of people there, we didn't think it was bad at all.
We ordered a bottle of Virginia wine which they were out of, but the recommendation that Mark made was fantastic!

Now I get it. Frankly, the restaurant is over rated food wise. Wine was great.
The food....my appetizer was oyster something and it was delicious. I mean really good.
If I'm not mistaken they added the oysters to Moscato wine
Which was a lovely flavor combination. Salad....10 wilted spinach leaves with 2 small cloves
Of garlic and two mandarin orange . Out of mashed potatoes. This is valentines Day and with a head count so running out of anything irresponsible.
Other option? French fries! Seriously. I got 10 string French fries. Steak mediocre. 4 tias"

"We went for a date night, and in part to celebrate valentine's. We went on a Friday night, showed up and were immediately greeted and had our coats taken and were whisked to our awaiting reserved table. Friendly staff all around, and we were given ample time to review the drink menu, and were offered a few suggestions. The special going on was 2 meals for $89 and was worth it. More food than we needed, and was cooked great. The wedge salad dressing was to die for, some kind of gorgonzola cheese dressing. I was expecting a slightly quieter or romantic setting, but we were sitting very close to other tables. We could easily hear others' conversations, and it was unavoidable to bump into the table behind us."

"Atmosphere and service were top-notch. The wine list is impressive. The food creations were amazing; from the appetizer to the salad to dessert, each item was an absolute explosion of wonderful taste. The only disappointment was the entree. I chose a steak, NY Strip, and it was heavily charred on the outside and overal bland, not very well seasoned. I have to say I have cooked better steaks on my own grill. When we go back, and we WILL go back, I will order an entree that utilizes the obvious extreme talent and creativity of the chef rather than just a steak."

"Tried Zoe's for restaurant week, and we will be heading back soon. We were impressed with the food, the staff, and especially the sommelier's wine recommendation for our meals. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars across the board is due to the cell phone from another patron... it was loud and, while not frequent, often enough to annoy. My recommendation, and my expectation, for such a fine establishment would be to request phones be put on silent."
