"We took my wife to the Swiss Chef for my wife's birthday. It was fabulous. The menu on line isn't as big as in the restaurant. They have a monthly menu that is tied into what's fresh. This month (May) it was white asparagus. There were maybe another 15 dishes emphasizing that food. They gave us the white asparagus soup just so we could try it, it was wonderful. The food was great, and the chef came out and sang happy birthday to my wife with a piece of peach pie. It couldn't have been a nicer experience."

"amazing place! we had a reservation for 5pm through this site even though they didn't open till 6pm! the chef open the door, they gave us drinks and a free appetizer while they rushed to hook us up! This was a Birthday dinner with my wife and they saved the day! I will be back and recommend to all my friends and family =D -guy with super long dreadlocks ;)"

"It's awesoem that the chef comes out and visits tables. The crowd is mostly older which is what struck my group most.
The food was great (true to its roots, it's not the best for vegetarians)...I enjoyed it, i enjoyed the enormous beers.
It was very great nights"

"We've followed Chef Uli for years. My husband is from Europe and just LOVES the unique and hard to find menu at this restaurant. Eisbein (boiled pork shank) is tender and fit for 2 ample meals....we always have a 'doggie bag'. I've had the Sauerbraten and filet of sole in the past. Side dishes of sauerkraut and red cabbage are truly homemade. We love this place !"

"We were there for Valentine's Day. It was not what we expected, but it was lots of fun. Brightly lit. Accordion player singer. And the chef/owner would come out grab the mike and sing too. He actually had a good voice. And the diners would participate. It had a real community feel. I would recommend it for the food and lively atmosphere, but not really for Valentine's Day."

"The Chef is Swiss trained. His food is always delicately and gently seasoned. My wife has many food allergies, but he has always willing to prepare food for her that she has had no problems with. We have patronized this Chef (Chef Ueli) since the 1970's and look forward to our Sunday meals at his restaurant! We are always warmly welcomed and treated nicely!"

"More neighborhood oddity than gem. I have seen singing waiters and maitre d's but never seen a singing head chef before. Average food, way above average portions and over-priced; needs better cuisine and if that means less gemutlichkeit will so be it. My wife liked it less than I did maybe because she is a better chef than the Swiss Chef. We wouldn't return unless the chef promised to stay in the kitchen preferably cooking."

"A good find in the middle of a not-so-good neighborhood. There is obviously a local following, with the owner/chef well acquainted with many of his clientele. This is not a young person's restaurant. The chef "understands" sauces, and the amount of food is huge. The menu features German/Swiss and Italian dishes, with the best red cabbage I've eaten in a long time."
