"This was our second time at The Scotch and Vine and we loved it as much as our first time there. The ambiance is great. The staff is very friendly, very knowledgable, and very efficient. The food is great. We loved the large wine/beer/scotch choices - we tried them all. The live music was nice - you could stil talk over it but made for nice background. We did make reservations which was easy and needed. We dropped in one night a few months ago and couldn't get a table because they were so busy. We will definitely return and so will the others in our group of 6. Loved how the front of the restaurant opened up allowing an outdoor feeling. Very nice on a warm evening. Thanks Scotch and Vine for a nice evening."

"While all the staff were pleasant and knowledgable about their extensive whiskey and wine list it all seemed a bit disorganized. Service was a bit rough and slow...bartenders seem to serve tables as well which made for a lot of running around Behind the bar was a bit chaotic with three-four people all mixing drinks at once. While they're mixing drinks, the people at the tables they're serving wait and wait and wait. Exec chef paid a visit to our table which impressed me. Only one seafood entree was offered as a special...otherwise just meats, pastas and burgers. Burgers actually looked great...lamb, buffalo, elk along with beef. I'd ordered a steak, medium-rare but was a tad overcooked."

"Our server was EXCELLENT, and provided us with a crash course on scotch/whiskey/bourbon. Very knowledgeable and patient with people that are not regular scotch drinkers. The food was on point, and the ambiance was relaxed but not too casual. The only drawback for me was that their wine list is not as varied as I would've liked (and they had run out of Malbec!), but then again, their stock and variety of scotch was really impressive, and that's what they specialize in.Definitely recommend :-)"

"We always take out of town guests here. It is our favourite restaurant in Des Moines. The no cry burger is delicious, and we LOVE the fingerling smashed "fries". They have a wonderful cheese selection for either a start or an end to the night!"

"Great food and excellent service. This place was recommended to me by a friend who said it was a good place to learn about Scotch. He was absolutely right. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. There were a huge number of varieties available, but the staff were eager to explain everything, so it wasn't at all intimidating. I was also impressed by the quality of the food. You might think a place like this would focus on the bar and neglect the menu, but that wasn't at all the case. Honestly can't wait to go back."

"The scotch selection was AMAZING. Our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable. He made our night. The only problem was the food. We ordered steaks and both were cooked perfectly but there was NO seasoning on ANYTHING. Not in the mashed potatoes or on the veg or steak. It left the meal very flat. It was really strange. It's like the cook forgot. We had an expensive meal including the scotch and the food killed it a bit. I would go back and not eat dinner, maybe just a snack because the service was great and the scotch offering was the best we've found."

"I first visited The Scotch and Vine during the Easter weekend for breakfast. I was very impressed by the food selection as well as the service. The decor was very cute with an antique look and I loved that our check came to us in a cigar box. While eating breakfast I took the opportunity to look through their other menus and I will definitely go back in the future.Great wine and scotch menu too for those that enjoy either."

"We truly enjoyed our first visit to Scotch and Vine! Dine around Seattle brought us there, and we will be going back. The Osso Bucco was outstanding and the cheese selection was wonderful. Everything was reasonably priced and good. When we were there they were having a wine tasting of four wines, 2 oz servings, for $10. The wine per glass prices were a little high, and the bottle prices more than made up for it. I was a little disappointed in the 'plainness' of my steak, and maybe that is because everything else was so good. The thing that does make me truly sad is that my absolute favorite thing that night, what I want, want, want to go back for - the pork belly appetizer - was a special plate for Dine Around Seattle."

"This is quite a drive for us, so we don't go often enough. But when there's music by our friends, it's a perfect evening. Any music night would be a great evening due to the upscale sounds booked. "We loved the atmosphere and decor. Leather booths, quaint tables... Service was great. Selection of scotches was amazing! The cheeses suggested by our waiter were delicious as well as the beet salad. We both enjoyed the Makers mark pork chop and I would sell my first born for the potato recipe. Looking forward to going back and working through the menu. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We plan on attending and upcoming class and learning more about whiskeys/scotches. Great for a date night or to grab a quick glass of scotch at the bar. The live music was great!"
