Overlooking the Independence Square, Ophelia's offers an eclectic American menu. The menu is an infusion of cultural flavors. The steaks, seafood, duck, and lamb are a few of our guest's favorite items. Layers of flavors contribute to the dishes we serve. The atmosphere is romantic and brunch is served on Sunday. Come and let us treat you to new and familiar flavors. It is a gem off the beaten path.
"Fantastic food and dessert selection. The salmon was outstanding. We were there for Mother's Day brunch and it was very kid friendly. Only issue was service- which was just ok. We had to track her down for refills and she never told us about drinks besides water and coffee. The food was fabulous but mainly lunch- eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy or one more breakfast item would have been nice. We will definately be back."

"We had never been to Ophelia's before and decided to go for our wedding anniversary. The service was excellent and very accomnmodating. The food was very nice and with live music, it was just the right choice for our anniversary dinner."

"We enjoyed a lovely luncheon at Ophelia's on Wednesday, May 1. We had just toured the Truman Library. I found it on-line and wasn't aware of it until then. Great service, lovely interior, not very crowded and nice selection of food. Thank you! Vanessa Kane, CMP, CMM Veterans of Foreitgn Wars of the US"

"Our favorite chef in the entire KC area. Food is always outstanding and the eclectic shops on the town square surrounding it make it a fun destination restaurant."

"First, our salad and soup took forever to get to our table. I ordered the wedge salad - it is 4 leaves of romaine with a very thin blue cheese dressing on it - definately not a wedge and my husband had the soup of the day - it was apparent it had sat under a heat lamp for awhile. As soon as our soup and salad were delivered, they brought our entree's!!!!!! We said to send them back and give us time to eat our first courses. I ordered a Scallop small plate which was really good and worth $14. My husband ordered the Braised Rib special and it should have been a small plate. It was good/tiny but certainly not worth $24. All in all, we will not be going back any time soon!!"

"Overpriced for the quality of food. Service was great. Food was bland. I had the salmon. It was served on a bed of pea rissoto with asparagus. The rissoto was great, but the flavors didn't mesh. The spices were bland. Not much flavor."

"We had a group of two couples. Our waiter was fabulous with suggestions for each palate. The food was well prepared. The wine list was sufficient for us. The coffee is great (Roasterie coffee). We were not rushed at all and actually stayed too long. I enjoy Ophelia's for many reasons. The food is always well prepared. There is a variety to select from. Wait staff are attentive but not overbearing. They have musicians playing quietly through the evening and it adds some romanticism to the meal."

"Some of the food on the brunch buffet was out when we got to the restaurant (12:45 pm and buffet didn't end until 2:00 pm)however, the staff made every effort to substitute with something else. Over all experience was nice."

"I have previously been to Ophelia's for Sunday Brunch. Was there on Easter this year, al was good, and excellent service. My disappointment was in the desert offerings. Have had cheesecake in the past, not this time."

"Would like to say this place was awesome!! We ask for a table off to the side and we still had awesome service. Loved the live soft Jazz.It was loud enough to hear and soft enough for us to meet and talk with friends. The prices are set at an great price for an upscale resturant. The food was absolutly wonderful.
We didn't mean to but we arrived at 6:30 and stayed untill 9:30. Not once did they rush us. I have told everyone they have to check this Small romantic place out. Lot's of people who has lived here for year never even knew this was in Independence square. We will be telling anyone everyone about this place.
We will be going on the weekend to checkout the all all u can eat brunch that they serve.

"It was our first time at Ophelia's, and it was wonderful. Even though it was Easter, they and we had reservations, NS there was a crowd, they seated us quickly and gave us the table we requested. The food offered at Brunch was unique, tempting and luscious. We will definitely go back!,,,"

"I had made a reservation for a later time so we could have a quieter time of the lunch period. We were greeted and seated promptly when our group arrived. I don't know if there are places to set up for larger groups, but we had 4 for a business luncheon and it was just PERFECT!! We were seated back into a "corner" area where we could discuss needed information in a nearly uninterrupted fashion.
Service was wonderful, and I LOVED the Salmon-Chili Salad (on the recommendation of my friend).
Unfortunately, I don't get the opportunity to get to Independence, MO very often, but I will remember Ophelia's for my next venture over that direction. WONDERFUL RESTAURANT!"

"We love having Ophelia's so close in Independence. It's fine dining without the downtown KC drive. The pork medallions were served on a mushroom risotto which was absolutely perfect. Wonderful experience and we'll return soon."

"We went for Valentines Day and then returned two weeks later to bring our sons. One of our son's is an aspiring chef and has eaten in many of the downtown hot spots. He was extremely impressed with the quality, taste, and presentation of the dinners we ordered. All four of us were sharing our plates with one another so that everyone could get a taste of what everyone ordered. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was a favorite as well as the Braised Short Rib and my son said that his Sea Bass was cooked to perfection! He even told our waiter to give his compliments to the chef. The explosion of flavors that Ophelia's chefs have mastered are AMAZING! We would highly recommend that you visit for a downtown experience with an uptown savor!"

"We decided to try somewhere we'd never been before. We had a 6:45pm reservation and were seated on time. Our salads didn't carrive until 7:45pm and our entree arrived at 8:30. We were told there was a large group and a wine tasting, plus only three in the kitchen, that was causing service to be slow. Our waiter was very nonchalant about this like it was normal. The food was good, they were out of the first two wines we chose, so we settled on our third choice. The live piano music is nice but the restaurant is small so being seated close to the piano made it hard to converse. That's not a good thing when it takes an hour and forty five minutes for your entree to arrive. Definetely not worth the money"

"We were very pleased with our experience. We have told several people about it, and we plan to go back. The food was wonderful! We chose the tasting menu. Our only wish was that the dessert portion be a little larger. It was very small. The ambiance was perfect for a date, including live piano music."
