"I love Café Verona is a wonderful place to take a friend or a romantic dinner ... My husband and I have gone there for a lovely dinner and then a movie after ward.. I have taken friends there for lunch and then done some shopping.. You will not be disappointed!!!"

"Meal was a total disappointment to us all(party of 4) we each had something different. No one ate the meal except the rib eye steak. The décor of the restaurant is wonderful. The old world charm somewhat made up for the disappointment of the food. The salad contained nothing but carrot slices and a half of a cherry tomato with two or three spinach leave for show. I think that the fresh slices of cheese would have been better if it had included more lettuce. The bread was also disappointing to us, even though it was fresh, it was served without butter and only with olive oil and a dab of seasonings for dipping. Not all customers dip bread into olive oil. Herb bread is not my first choice it wasn't

"Food was good, but lacked any surprises to the pallet. Service was almost too quick. If you like to linger over a per dinner drink, be sure to tell the waitress, as your salad and main course are out rather quickly. Many people may relish the fast service, but it does feel a little rushed, as though the owner is wanting to turn tables quickly. However, I'm sure if you spoke to the waitress about how soon you wanted your entree, she would oblige. Overall a very good night out."

"Cafe Verona's menu was more interesting than many American-Italian places and reminiscent of dining in Italy. The food was excellently prepared. The wine list was strong. The decor was tasteful and well done. If I lived in the area I would definitely visit again and again. My only constructive criticism would be that the flavors seemed on the safe side (perhaps some canned ingredients), which is understandable, but may keep Cafe Verona from truly being a "foodie" haven."

"Our first visit was just as expected, unigue restaurant in downtown Independence just off the square. The bar are athough small was very comfortable and beautiful mural above the bar. Bartender was exceptionally friendly and helpful with the wine list. We had reservations and only waited about 15 min. which we enjoyed in the bar. The restaurant is also smaller but very nice. The food was excellent and very affordable menu. We liked it so much we booked their upstairs banquet room for our son's wedding rehersal dinner in May! Great place for a quiet dinner or drinks and avoids the large crowds of the plaza."

"When you walk into Café Verona you forget you are in Independence. Truly a gem!!! The server was slightly "rough around the edges" at first, but it became quite charming as he was so very happy to make our experience lovely and special. I actually felt bad that I doubted him!!! The food, oh my the food!!! I have visited many of the finest steakhouses in the world and always heard people talk about a steak that melted in their mouths, however I had never experienced such a delight until Café Verona. I am a sucker for a special or featured entrée just because I think the chef shows this dish more love. And I was SOOOOOO right!!! The Chateaubriand was silky and sinful. I cut it with my fork just to se if I could and oh my goodness I could."

"My family and I frequent this restaurante and we love it. This is the first time we went for Valentine's day and they over booked. Everyone had reservations and had to wait. We weren't sat until an hour after our reservation! Everyone was upset, understandably. So, I would recommend them as a great dining experience, just not on Valentine's day."

"My review should be tempered by the fact that it was Valentines Day. I really appreciated the online reservation system. Convenient and works well. However... Our reservation was for 8:15. When we arrived at 8:05 I notice the waiting area and bar being overcrowded. So I asked the hostess if they were running on time? She said ... "we're telling everybody 40 minutes". This kinda took me aback. So I said, "but I have a reservation for 8:15". She said, "sorry, people are staying longer than we expected". (my thought was, they were tired of standing while waiting so they took extra sit time :). Okay, we did get in around 9:00 so it was a 40 minute wait. And it wasn't so bad. We were fortunate to find a seat in the bar before dinner."
