Traditionally, tapas dishes have been associated with
Spanish cuisine. However at THE BEE"S KNEES, we take a global approach that encompasses various cultures and flavors from around the world. From Thai to Spanish, Cajun to Mediterranean and Japanese to French, we have selected a menu to please the palate.
Our many vegan, vegetarian, poultry and seafood dishes are accented by our extensive selection of
beer, wine, spirits, sake, coffee, and tea.
The name, The Bee's Knees, itself has it's own curious meaning. Taken from 1920's jazz influenced slang,
it refers to the "hip" or the "cool" thing such as "The Cat's Meow".
We encourage sharing!
"My friends and I came here for our high school reunion, and we loved this place! It was nice and quiet, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our server took great care of us and recommended some great tapas for us. I would definitely encourage my friends to come to this restaurant more often!"

"We have been to Bees Knees multiple times. The food (all Tapas/small plates) was excellent and reasonably priced, except the scallops were a little pricey at $10 for 2, and they charged extra for additional pita bread for the hummus. This was 1/2 price wine night (Tuesday), which is a fantastic deal, and the wine was great, however it was rung up at the wrong price ($6 overcharge). Service was good, but could have been more attentive and there were long stretches where our server did not check on us, especially after she dropped the check and I discovered a problem. Food came very quickly and was all very tasty. Place was hopping for a TUE. I will still go back."

"The food is good not really a foodies dream but you won't be disappointed. Some dishes stand out: smoked gouda nachos, garlicky shrimp and the seaweed salad. The buffalo tempah is avoidable.
The atmosphere is vibrant with lots of noise from the other guests making it perfect for private parties and large groups. It's not a romantic scene but it could give you an excuse to sit closer."

"Bee's Knees has mastered tasty food, but they haven't mastered decent service. Our food took an hour to arrive. One part of our order never arrived. A drink order was forgotten as well. It was our second time giving them a chance; unfortunately, I doubt we will give them a third."

"We have been coming here for years and the last couple of times we have been the service has been severely sub-par. We had to wait for basically everything from the second we walked in the door. We got some of what we ordered but some of it came out wrong and was not corrected. The portions seem to have shrunk while the prices either stayed the same or have been raised a few dollars. It just seems to be lacking from where it started."

"The chard was the top hit for me I ordered three servings! I got a lot of food and it was all good except for the halibut. It was a bit bland and for 30.00 the portion was still wanting to me. It was the most expensive item on my order. The olives, shrimp, scallops and grits all perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The place is promoted as a tapas bar type but I've lived in countries where that is the norm and the "tapas" where a bit expensive for me. I was going to order the chocolate cake. I was told it was 6.00 but then the server came back and said it was now 7.50 and that "maybe the price went up because it was Master's weekend." I didn't think that was cool but the next time I am in Augusta I am definitely going back"

"Bees Knees is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Augusta! It's amazing how the use locally grown products to create a global menu. I love them and have never had anything bad from them. Order the Pad Thai, crab cakes and Avocado Chop Chop! Oh, and the small plates are great for sharing!"

"Had dinner there the night before we went to the Master's. Ordered some very yummy Tapas and drinks. Ordered 1 more Tapas after we ate and it did take forever. HOWEVER, they did comp it for us. Wait staff and management were really friendly and acommodating. Would go there every time I visit Augusta"

"Excellent cocktail menu, and all the beverages we tried were unusually tasty. Tried several small plates, and found the crab cakes to be excellent. The nachos were so,so. Egg rolls were good. Pad Thai noodles were just OK."

"What an awesome surprise! There were four in our party (in town for the Masters tournament) and we all loved the experience. We had a total of 9 different tapas dishes and each was absolutely wonderful. The sauces were all delicious. Tempura, hand-cut fries, kale wraps, vegetable rolls, goat cheese bruchetta (my personal favorite) - lots of care and attention to the presentation too! Loved our server - gave us tips on what to do and knowledgeable about beers - he was very comfortable making recommendations. Thanks for a lovely time, we will come again."

"For my friend's bachelorette party, we dined at Bees Knees. The food was great, tapas we perfect with plates coming every 15 minutes and to share with the whole table. Martini's are only $5 on Saturday, and so yummy! The server was kind, efficient, and split our tabs perfectly, even with all the ordering and drinks, where many places would make a mistake.
Always a pleasure eating at Bees Knees! And even better, I was able to book the reservation ONLINE!"

"My co-workers and I had a wonderful time. The food and drink selections are phenominal. So much to choose from that its hard to decide and/or pick from. Everything was outstanding even the service. We were a little put off by the automatic gratuity included in the total. I would say this may prevent us from coming as a group of 6 or more or limit us to how much we order because it does add up. Highly recommend otherwise."

"The place looked nice and the food was good, but the amount of food and the quality of the food did not correlate well with the price of the food in my opinion, based on the brunch item that I ordered."

"Nice surprise! This is not your traditional tapas place...far more ecclectic. Went with my colleagues, and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our many plates, the beer and wine, and the Creme brûlée. The only thing that was so-so was the fish taco. If I am ever back in Augusta, it will be my first stop! : ) YUM!"

Definitely will go every time we visit Augusta!!"

"Glad to find a place downtown serving brunch in addition to regular menu on Sunday. Within walking distance of our hotel (Marriott at the Riverwalk). Server was attentive and personable, food was very good! Terrific selection for veggies/vegans! Funky decor with reasonable prices."

"I was in Augusta, GA for a business meeting and was looking for a local place near my hotel to have dinner. The Bee's Knees was a unique eatery, featuring local produce and a small portions menu. I started with a small salad with a blueberry vinigrette and feta cheese crumbles. I then went with the fish tacos and the scallops. The food was fresh and made to order. It was so delicious I then ordered the cheese quesadilla. The wait staff was very friendly and prompt with their service. Definitely a gem for the neighborhood that is mainly "pub grub"."

"I loved the atmosphere!!!! Nice, cozy, and dark but the tables are really small. Was perfect for a small girls night out, but would be even better for a romantic evening. A little pricey for the amount of food you receive but the fact that they use produce from the local farms make it worth while. Great drinks(lemon drop martini)!!!Overall, I'd go again!!!"

"We thought this place was great! Our server was fabulous and helpful with recommendations, etc. We went on a Tuesday, which is 1/2 price wine bottle night--a great deal. We got the guacamole (very fresh and tasy), the Gouda nachos (+ crab and shrimp)--not to be missed, a tasty, light Asian-inspired salad, and, our favorite, the buffalo tempeh. So good. We got the creme brulee for dessert, and liked it so much we also tried the sticky toffee pudding. It was great. We waddled out of there feeling very happy, and the total was surprisingly reasonable (the 1/2 bottle price helped). This is not a traditional Spanish-style tapas place, but is 'tapas' in the sense of getting small plates to share. The menu is creative and unique. Yum yum!"

"I took my wife to the Bee's Knees for the first time as part of her birthday date night. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, the expansive drink selection, and the food was very good and brought out hot. The service was pleasant but not over the top. One hindrance of ours was that my wife doesn't eat seafood and I had no idea before going that approx. 1/2 the menu is seafood items. Also, I requested a seat not next to the door since I knew it would be cold and it was her birthday and she was going to wear the outfit she got. This request was not honored which was kind of a let down. I understand no one wants to sit next to the door but it was her birthday."

"Bees Knees has been a go-to spot for me for something fun and different when I'm with friends. However, Valentines Day was understandably crowded; and my food took forever, arriving just minutes before I had to leave to make a concert. The server was very attentive, but the restaurant has expanded while the kitchen has remained tiny. They pride themselves on everything being prepared fresh in their tiny kitchen -- too tiny for their size now, perhaps? The food is still delicious."
