"I have been told about this place for years and I finally had an occasion to go. This is a real steak house with real people. Meaning you actually get a meal here not just a steak and order everything else on the side. The food was wonderful, and service was fantastic. This is a real steak house with real people."

"The go to dish here is the specialty of the house - Sugar Steak - it is delicious! Need I say more. The sides are average but the steak is unique and worth the trip for you steak lovers. Atmosphere is 1950's original."

"The staff was super friendly and the food top notch. I think the sugar steak was the best steak I've had in Denver and I have been too most of the steakhouses around. Dessert if fantastic too. Its a true Gem. The open table reservation system worked real well too. I will go back for sure."

"What can you say about an independant steak house that has been in business at the same location for over 40 years? If it wasn't consistently good, it would not still be there.
And, for those of us who grew up in the 60's, it brings back fond memories."

"I do NOT recommend this place! I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. The staff was extremely rude and could care less about us.
We arrived at the restaurant and had a reservation. We waited 15 minutes before someone greeted us. We had several problems with the manager and our seating arrangements. Too much to go into detail!
I was really looking forward to eating at this place as I am a 4th generation native. I will NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! I hope this place shuts down soon and a new restaurant goes in with customer service!"

"This review is more for open table itself. Obviously made a reservation on 2/23. Got a confirmation and received this survey memo.
Bastiens did not have our reservation. They did not receive that it was birthday celebration and we almost did not get a table.

"Food was awesome, our first time. The server seemed less than thrilled that we had a living social coupon, in spite of the fact that we tipped accordingly. Y'all should print up a bill that includes the cost before the discount is taken so it is obvious what folks should tip.
Otherwise, great steak and cocktails. Cool ambiance."

"Bastien's was the perfect place to take my boyfriend for a romantic night. We were able to sit and have a nice conversation in this fun and "old school" restaurant. The food is always amazing and the staff is friendly! The experience was exactly what I was looking for. The Sugar Steak is my favorite dish and I had talked it up for weeks. It was perfect. My boyfriend said he had dreams about the sugar steak that night and can't wait for our next trip to Bastien's. I will be going back soon and am looking forward to another wonderful time."

"Bastiens was an undiscovered gem until a few years ago and has quickly become a family favorite. the food is consistant, delicious and the service is terriffic. No one rushes you, the servers are engaging and humorous. The atomosphere allows encourages a laid back casual elgance and it is dfintely a wonderful experience all around."

"Okay, here's the deal with Bastien's -- it's a rare, outstanding example of an old-school, high-cholesterol, what's-good-for-General-Motors-is-good-for-America steakhouse. From the loopy, mid-century modern architecture to the grotto lighting to the thought-to-be-extinct drink menu, all the way through the meal which may feature something called a ... wait for it ... Sugar Steak, THIS is the Saturday-night staple that kept your grandparents going through the week, so shut up and learn something, Junior. "We love Bastien's. The atmosphere with twinkling lights and Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra playing in the background is relaxing and fun. Their sugar steaks are the best, and their soups and their salads are great. We especially like the infused butter with the bread. For dessert try a piece of pie served on a sizzling hot skillet with butter sauce and a scoop of ice cream. I gained 3 pounds just thinking about it!"
