The Best of Baja in the heart of North Scottsdale at the Scottsdale Quarter, SOL Cocina offers an upscale, yet inviting dining experience. Executive Chef Deborah Schneider, a James Beard nominated cookbook author and authority on authentic Mexican cuisine, has created a menu of contemporary and gourmet interpretations of coastal Baja dishes, including antojitos, street tacos, cocktels de mariscos and main entrees made with fresh seafood, wood grilled meats, local produce and salsas that are all made in-house daily. "Food was beyond disappointing. Carnitas street tacos served undercooked & near cold. Very dry - they give u no options/choices for condiments. Not to mention they have the worst rice/beans- seriously. And I loved waiting 45 mins just to get one drink. Never going back!"

"This colourful restaurant in a mall was actually good. The food was of good quality. I didn't feel that they had to spice everything down for the gringos. The selection was great and the home made corn chips and selection of four different types of guacomole were great. This is one southwestern restaurant I will return to."

"Went here 5/10 with a group of friends (8 total) around 7pm and had a good time. When we arrived it was fairly busy both bar and tables. She sat us outside which was nice in the beginning but got very warm after a couple of hours. They did not have the misters on. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food is somewhat over-priced as other have mentioned but it's probably due to the location- Scottsdale Quarter. All of our dishes were very good and plently of food to go around. We did a long wait for our main course but I'm assuming it was due to the dinner rush time. We all had several drinks and while not very strong they were pretty good and again prices were on the high side for what you got."

"I was 1st time diner but went with friends who eats here regularly, All of us enjoyed our choices. The peel & eat 'cucarachas' were magnifico! Also the taco plates (whatever selection) are very healthy. Our grilled fish tacos were chock-filled with moist, tender meat & the cabbage & sauce was just the right amount (where it was not over-flowing & sloppy). Sides of black beans & red rice where generous & tasty.
Location was ideal for people watching & the vast variety of margaritas made it hard to choose. Service this night was adequate. Wait person was on the ball but clean-up crew took their time to remove our plates....about 10 minutes & after asking twice, we finally got the water we requested."

"Great Decor - but our service was seriously lacking. Drinks took a long long time and came out wrong. We even had a tough time getting water. "I reserved a table away from noise to have a business lunch. Not only did they seat us next to the open kitchen, it was in the bar on high stools. The next table was less than 1 foot away therefore we could not conduct business comfortably or with any privacy. Service was rushed and we had to ask for refills several times. The waiter did make some good suggestions but the food was just okay. I would not go back."

"Great atmosphere, great location. Visited at lunch because True Food was packed. Great presentation, but food was just OK. Taco sampler had dry meat in it, something was missing. Especially the pork one, which had an abundance; it was nothing to write home about. Had been meaning to try this place, and heard great things about it. I will not go back on purpose, now that I've tried it, unless it's just for drinks on the patio. There are too many other great restaurants in Scottsdale to go for mediocre food."

"We decided to take our friends from Newport Beach to Sol to celebrate Margarita Day.We were seated immediately upon arrival in the back room at a table suitable for our group of five adults.So far so good.We of course all ordered margaritas.They were O.K.You get what you pay for.Fortunately, they were not full price.Some of the chips (more like a tacos) were black.Not what you would expect going into a restaurant with an Open Table

"If you like restaurants for good service, nice decor and fair prices...this might be your place. But if you like good food...don't bother. The food was not only bland...but stone cold...twice. The manager and servers tried twice to bring me a hot dinner (tacos) but apparently the kitchen decided that a warm plate was good enough. Would not recommend SOL Cocina to anyone...simple as that."

"Our first visit was on a Tuesday night- Taco Tuesdays. There is a live band and lots of people so it was quite noisy. We had a reservation which was honored and we asked for a table away from the band. We would not have been able to have a conversation nearer to it. Except for the noise level which was manageable, the food was great. Service varied- at times it was very attentive and at other times we had trouble getting our water refilled.
Bottom line is that we will go back."

"We were first time diners at Sol Cocina and I felt our waitress was a little arrogant, not particularly helpful with the menu and not very obliging with special requests. We only wanted an alternative to rice and beans for someone who has a restricted diet due to health issues. Vegetables?"

"This past Saturday was extremely busy & crowded. The staff seemed confused & overwhelmed. Service was slow & the aisles were very narrow. Received a bill that was not mine but was charged on the credit card. Will have to have the cc company reverse.
The food was very good & this is the only reason to go back to this restaurant. I have not seen staff disarray such as this in awhile & I am a senior contributor for Trip Advisors. My opinion is the staff needs a lot of training and more operating procedures put in place. It seems that the restaurant is more successful than they are able to handle."

"Specialty drinks were good. The guacamole was very fresh and flavorful. Our group ordered a variety of different tacos and all were delicious. Fresh, flavorful, well seasoned and moist, but not falling apart when you picked them up. The main ingredient was plentiful and not loaded with 'fillers'. Service was qucik and friendly. Though the ambiance is fun and energetic, our only complaint was that the music was a bit too loud for conversation, and the lighting a bit dark at the table to read the small print on the menu."

"This place is a nightclub. It has decent enough food, but make no mistake - this is a LOUD booming crowded dark nightclub - even at 6 pm on a weeknight.. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. We won't be back."
