"One of the truly best restaurants for lunch just keeps getting better and better. Just outstanding food (superlative messels and frittes). Service was spotty; specific waiter we had was a bit tempermental, but that is an aberration of the generally outstanding service I have received at the restaurant. Overall, just a great dining experience once again."

"Four of us dined at DuParc on a 'freebie,' obtained after complaining about absolute awful service (though not food) at an afternoon tea. "This is the second time we've been to Cafe du Parc and I'm afraid it has been discovered. It can be considered a "neighborhood gem" because there is valet parking so it's hassle free (like you've walked to it). The food is very good, the waitstaff is superb and the ambiance is pleasant. It was very noisy Sat. night which I suppose has to do with being "discovered"."

"I was disappointed in the restaurant. I have eaten there several times and have always found the menu interesting and the food very good. This time the menu was interesting but the food was mediocre at best. I brought a couple of old college friends and was embarrassed by out experience.

The restaurant also should pay more attention to service. We were seated promptly but had to wait at least fifteen minutes for service. No one ever offered to get us drinks until they came to take our food order. Things need to improve before I'll go there again."

"This is one my wife's favorite restaurants in Washington DC. The food is not as complex or overwrought as some of the menus that I have seen at some raved about restaurants. It is straightforward French bistro cuisine with a well inspired and well executed menu. I especially love the occasional seasonal/regional menus that are available from time to time. These are really educational and provide a wonderful adventuresome experience of the regional diversity of cuisine in France. Service is attentive without pushiness, the location inside the Williard Hotel across from the White House is wonderful. The decor is very warm and inviting, not stodgy. It continues to be a great experience."

"I met my son for lunch during the last week in February. The room was brightly lit with sunlight on a cold and windy day. We were promptly seated. Tables are close together and I found it hard to hear my son's voice at time.

The food was just ok. The bread had a slightly sweet taste,which I don't like in bread. I ordered the braised roasted pork belly, which had a hard crust of pork skin. I had never had park belly before and I won't again. Half of it was pure fat, but that's probably just the nature of pork belly. My son had the fish of the day, which was salmon. Both dishes came with mixed vegetables. The menu said they were sauteed in olive oil, but they tasted like they were steamed. The were pretty flavorless. Overall it was ok"

"We went for the mussels and they didn't disappoint - supple and sweet. We love garlic, so we were thrilled with the amount of garlic in the dish. However, I would think people who only like a little garlic will not be happy. There was A LOT of garlic. The bread was also excellent. It was dense and had a very nice flavor - perfect for dipping."

"The food was good to very good (stuffed veal was very fatty; roasted scallops excellent). My only complaint is that we were rushed through our meal even though we were seated at 8:15, the restaurant was only half full by 9:15, and there was no need to push us out the door. The main course came the second our appetizers were finished, dessert appeared within seconds of our ordering it, and the check was put on the table (without our asking for it) 2 minutes after the dessert was delivered. I can see doing that at lunch time, but at dinner time at the late seating on Valentine's Day?"

"This is pricier that I thought when I made the reservation. Brunch was forty dollars per person with tax and tip. But what a spread.
The buffet brunch runs from quiche to crawdads to creme brulee to floating islands. Everything is fresh and delicious. Also, the atmosphere is conducive to conversation. We wanted to stay there all day. But the stomach can take only so much."

"I was impressed with the food and ambiance of the resterant. The service was a little bit slow at times, but that just added to the French resterant feel. :)

The one thing I was disappointed about was the valet parking. I was called to confirm the reservation, I was told that there was complimentary valet parking. When we left, we were told that there was no such agreement and were charged $29 a piece. There was plenty of parking so we didn't need a valet."

"We ate at Cafe du Parc before a show at the National Theatre. Our waiter was great - he asked us if we were going to a show when we first sat down and made sure that our food was timed so that we were finished 30 minutes before the show started. "We went for the Valentine's Day Sunday brunch. The buffet had a good selection of hot and cold foods, breads, cheeses, and desserts. The hot dishes were not always so hot but, overall, the food was very good. What killed us was the price of the very small Mimosas we ordered...$12.00 each. Way overpriced-and one drink should have been included in the cost of the buffet. Will definitely try this cafe again, maybe in the summer when the patio is open."

"My wife and I selected from the prix fixe Valentine's Day menu. For appetizers, I got raw oysters in a gelee of artichoke (excellent flavors and presentation) and my wife got a charcuterie of vegetables, prosciutto and pork pate (all excellent). Her entree was scallops (huge, tender and delicious) while I got the duck breast with mushroom-stuffed cannelloni. The duck was perfect and the sauce sublime, the cannelloni provided a great accompaniment. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with raspberries and ice cream...a perfect end to a memorable dining experience."

"My boss came into town and I took him to Cafe Du Parc with 4 of my collegues. We were blown away by the quality of the food from starters to dessert and more than satisfied with the price. This is one of the best French cuisine restaurant I have been to and I recommend it highly. My boss had the braised pork belly sauteed crisp and raved about it all the way back to the hotel. I enjoyed the Tartare de Bouef as a starter and the Poisson du Jour and was deeply satisfied. Portions were genoerous but reasonable and the service was top-notch. I will be back with coworkers, family, friends and anyone else interested in a meal that will leave me warmly sated and happy with the bill. Bon Appetit!"

"We enjoyed our lunch at Cafe Du Parc. The dining room was bright and sunny, the perfect atmosphere for a mid-winter's day. The feel of the restaurant was what I would imagine for a Parisian cafe -- not the smokey Art Nouveau type. The entree portions weren't scaled for a lunch menu and that was a draw back. The staff was great, very attentive and when we were ordering pointed out the portion size and warned us off of ordering too much food. Looking forward to going back in the late Spring and sitting outside, but this time we'll order from the appetizer menu or plan on splitting an entree. We will definitely recommend the Cafe Du Parc."

"I was really looking forward to this place and wanted to like it...but we didn't. 6 of us hit this up as they are still doing restaurant week and offer a prix fixe menu for around $35. Started off with the bad attitude from the bartender downstairs and he didn't make the correct drink I ordered. Everyone has a bad day once in a while so I gave him a pass. Little did I know it was foreshadowing like you see in a bad movie.

Upstairs for dinner. Ordered. Took a little long for waiter to come back and get our order though. Apps started to come out. They brought two of them out. Then came back a few minutes later to say they went to the wrong table, took them (my friends were waiting for everyone to be served so they didnt' touch the"

"We had a very nice meal at Cafe du Parc on a Friday evening in January. Our table was ready, and the service was satisfactory, although the wait staff seemed a bit stretched thin. The wine list was traditionally French, and there were good, reasonably priced selections. The appetizers were tasty, and the portions were generous. The same was true of the main dishes. Everything was very good, and the preparation seemed like a classic Bistro. The desserts were exceptionally good, so don't skimp there, as they were probably the highlight of the evening. In all, Cafe du Parc met or exceeded our expectations."

"Went to Cafe du Parc before a show. I have gone there often for lunch in the spring outside and always enjoyed it, but despite getting there two hours before the show, the service was terrible. Food was fine, but food was just thrown at us. I understand when going to shows the difficulty of moving things along, but we got there at 6 in order to leave at 7:50 and they were just throwing food around -- desserts without picking up plates. This wasn't our fault -- they just didn't get early stuff out early in my view, as they knew our time limits. Suggest you stick with this place for lunch or a long dinner. "The Sunday brunch at Cafe du Parc was great - a very wide assortment of traditional French breakfast and lunch cuisine and desserts. We had, however, intended to go for Restaurant Week for lunch, and received a call the day before indicating that they would have both the brunch and the Restaurant week lunch menu available. Unfortunately, only the brunch was offered when we arrived and it was significantly more expensive than what we had anticipated. Since it was raining, we really had no other option but to just stick with the brunch, which was delicious, but we were really disappointed that it came with the inflated expense."

"Great choice, great prix fixe menu. Waiters need to learn their beers. My waiter waxed eloquent about the wine list, and then when I asked about their beers (they have a nice-sized selection), my waiter couldn't tell me what they had. "The food was fittingly excellent for a restaurant of this calibre in this calibre of hotel. My date had the rabbit, and I had the trout. He loved the rabbit and the sauce it was in, and I loved that the trout was a beautifully full and white piece with no bones. The profiteroles were delicious for dessert.
The service was genuinely outstanding - the waiter did not mind helping my date with th escargots in a very friendly way, the hostess was very nice and pleasant, and they said goodnight to us on the way out. Maybe I am easily pleased. The dining room was crisp and kind-of formal -- perhaps it is more of a business dinner or "adult" crowd kind-of place. Still, the dining room has a cheerful vibe out it."

"We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit to Cafe du Parc. The food was superb. We had the mussels and all items and the menu carry through the French cafe theme. The service was efficient and the staff helpful and friendly. The atmosphere and decor also carry through the informal cafe theme, the location adjoining the historic Willard Hotel and view from the upstairs dining room are excellent. Finally, the complimentary parking in the Willard Hotel parking lot behind the hotel was an unexpected bonus. Cafe du Parc is a very good choice for a superb, informal dinner and can also be a great venu that out of town guests will enjoy."

"Even though it was loud, I found it to go along with the very energetic lunch scene. The amount of food they gave us for restaurant week menu was INCREDIBLE! Food was subtly seasoned - nothing crazy or striking. It all balanced out. Service was great - they definitely work hard over there. The seating was very tight, however, with servers trying to weave through the tables or running into my chair. Overall - I enjoyed this lunch a lot. If you are looking for an energetic lunch break - this would be it."

Both were outstanding, well executed, and superb examples of French cooking as can be found in France; i.e., without concessions to conventional American taste. A deliciously rich chestnut soup (foie gras for my husband) to start, a tender ballotine of local turkey as main, and a generous slice of bouche de noel to finish. The casual ambiance of this French restaurant was true to its bistro style and service was quick and efficient. "This was a family party of 6, 20 somethings to grandma, enjoying a pre-Christmas soirée gastronome. The food was very French, and DELICIOUS: lovely entrées, superb escargots/ fries/ spinach. The wine selection was okay. Everyone agreed - the SAUCES were great! Tables were spaced well - conducive to genial conversation. The ambiance was a bit impersonal. The wait staff were gracious, and did try, but all orders though correct were mis-placed.... IT WAS A DELIGHTFUL EVENING; we will be back.
We planned dessert next-door on the rooftop terrace at W Hotel - WHAT A MISTAKE! The view is glorious, BUT THE AMBIANCE - FRIGID, SEATING - RIDICULOUS, HOSTING - PRETENTIOUS, SERVICE - FAUX-CHIC, AND THE FOOD - DISASTROUS!"

"I very much enjoyed Cafe du Parc. The ambiance really is that of a French bistro. The food and wait service are excellent. I had the onion tart as an appetizer a very nice mix of flavors. Also a salad (Lyonnaise, I think), but was less impressed with that. Nicely made, but the salad dressing lacked flavor and did not do anything to tie the salad together. I went with the wine recommended by the waitress, and am glad I did. The coffee is among the best in D.C. My quibble is with the host who simply sent my party up the stairs to the restaurant where we were left standing until a waiter stopped to ask if he could help. Perhaps Cafe du Parc uses open seating, but it would have been nice if the host had told us that before we went upstairs."

"A great way to finish up an evening at the White House. The food was excellent, especially the Lapin. The waiter was excellent. Having the bar on the ground floor and the dining room on the second made for a lot of running up and down for drinks and wine. All in all, a very good experience."

"I was very pleased with my dining experience at Cafe du Parc. It was my first time going there and I really think it's a great choice for a pre-theater meal. Our entrees were the stuffed veal breast and rabbit. Both were excellent choices. I really appreciated our waiter's suggestions for entrees, wine, etc. I know he was steering us in the right direction. The only concern I had was being seated in the back. It was a little noisy and I'm sure that sitting in the front would have been a more pleasant experience. I'm not sure how these decisions are made, but I made my reservation pretty far in advance and would have appreciated a more quiet dining experience. I will recommend Cafe du Parc to others."

"One of the best brunches I've had in DC. $32 prix fixe for French buffet brunch. Wonderful french fare including roasted hen, cassoulet, haricots verts, shredded carrots, poached salmon, plus lovely desserts including macaroons. Plus they have traditional items like eggs, eggs benedict, waffles, sausage, bacon, etc. Service was impeccable. Only complaint - and unfortunately this is a big one - is that we got screwed over on the drink bill. We asked simply for two glasses of champagne, and the waiter took it upon himself to give us the most expensive champagne on the menu at $20 a glass! Meanwhile they had other, more affordable bubbles by the glass. He didn't tell us there were options, and he didn't ask us which we would like."

"I had read that this is the place to have mussels, so I ordered them. They were cooked perfectly--succulant, and not overcooked. It took some time for the waiter to come to the table to remove the bowl of empty shells, but other than that the service was decent."

"i really like Cafe du Parc. Food is interesting and good. I think they compare very favorably with mid-level restaurants in France, and the total bill is always very reasonable. For instance, we both had appetizers and entrees and shared a dessert, I had two glasses of wine and my girlfriend had a coke and coffee, bill was $108. A terrific value in my opinion."

"We heard many things about this restaurant and found all the good things written were correct and all the bad things incorrect. In a nutshell: the wine list had good picks; the beer was great (and cold!); the pate en croute has to be the very best pate I've ever had including Paris, the escargots were ok but not great, and the mussels entree was a huge portion more than enough for two and very very good. We didn't have time for dessert as we were heading to a play at National Theatre right next door but the pastries there definitely looked good and worth trying. Oh, and the wait staff -- attentive and very good!"
