"The food was terrific and the service was top-notch. Our server was engaging and humorous to just the right level and pitch, and was present enough that we never wanted for anything, and not overly attentive so as to distract from enjoying our friends' company.
Bring an appetite! The small bits and bites mask a large aggregate amount of food, and you want to pace yourself so there is room for dessert. Also, sometimes, places with a theme (like fondue) have more style than substance...not the case here. Food and prep was of high quality.
Go with friends, or a another couple, plan to sit and enjoy for awhile."

"Overall great experience. My friends and I ordered the 4 course option. When it came time for the chocolate fondue desser, the waitress seemed (to me) annoyed that I asked for an extra chocolate fondue; I understood perfectly that I would have to pay extra. I got the impression she did not want to bring the extra (but maybe I misunderstood her body language)."

"Was our first time at this restaurant and was looking forward to a different type of dining experience for my boyfriend's birthday. It was just ok. Service was very good, but it was too much work cooking your own food for dinner! (of course I knew what this restaurant was all about when I made the reservations!) Also the cost of the dinner was WAY too much for the quality of the meal. We got the shared cheese fondue for starters, a small salad each, a small entrée to cook each, and shared the dessert fondue (now that was yummy!), a small glass of wine, and 2 vodka tonics and it was $111 before tip!!! I would go back for the dessert fondue but definitely not for the meal."

"One of my fondest memories as a kid was when my parents broke their fondue set. This was a quirky fad back then, but it was fun and I remember the food was really really good! I took my daughters for a special occasion (Birthday Celebration) and this place did not disappoint. Our server (Megan) was very attentive and engaging. We ordered the 4 course meal - Cheese fondue / Salad / Entree fondue / Chocolate fondue.
Only minor complaint was that we ran out of chocolate fondue too soon.... Oh well, we were very satisfied by that point and did not need to push our food intake limits any further."

"i cannot believe the reviews about this place place being so good. i wanted to like it so much but i knew it was downhill as soon as our server referred to me as "hon" and continually referred to her and my party as "we"....the sirloin steak was small, the seafood was small, the bread was dry and boring. seating was near the kitchen door in what could have been intimate if they put a candle on the wall or tablecloths. our server spilled melted cheese on the table top burner and we had to smell that as well.
service was non-existent---i was ordering double drinks (which were minuscule); we knew we wouldnt see the server for at least a half hour.
bad. just bad and inexcusable, there was hardly anyone in there and the staff was gossiping."

"Took our adult daughter here for her birthday. Had a wonderful experience. The food was the best. The atmosphere was great. It was a lot of fun watching the waitress make the cheese fondue sauce and seeing all the different sauces for the main entree. Dessert was to die for.

"I always want to try this restaurant because of the fondue. I think it is something special food which worthy to try at least once. Overall everything was great, it was a good thing to try once because i don't think it is something that you have eat all the time consider the cheese and the chocolate are both very heavy food. As a person who always has healthy diet, I prefer lighter food. The waitress was friendly but that was her 4th day of working there, she might be a little nervous. She dropped the sauce on my sister's jacket whiling she was introducing the sauces. And she didn't clean up the table before she bring up the birthday cake to my sister. But I do appreciated her patients and explain everything on the menu very detail."

"I've been to the Melting Pot before in Minneapolis. And as I loved it there I loved the reataurant in Boton too. My friend from Austria was here and we decided to have light dinner (just some cheese fondue and chocolate fondue as dessert) at the bar. That means you can save a lot of money because in the happy hour there is -50% off at the bar. Since we are both students and a high-end restaurant like the Melting Pot would normally not be in our budget, it was perfect for us. We had a great time there, stuff was friendly and very fast, and the food was of course wonderful and something very extraordinary. Highly recommendable to everyone, also people who don't want to spend so much money since there is the Happy Hour option."

"We couldn't have had a better birthday celebration experience! The service was top-notch and the food was delicious! I don't think I could ever eat at a non-interactive restaurant again! The time flew by as we were able to relax in between courses with plenty of conversation to go around! I recommend this Melting Pot in Back Bay, in particular, to everyone. The waitstaff was fantastic! A definite 10 from all of us for the Melting Pot!"

"Went for my best friends birthday with another friend and my girlfriend and LOVED it! Our waiter was with us as soon as we were seated and got us started on our drinks immediately. We all ordered the 4-course experience (pacific rim for me and my gf) and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The cooking times they advised were a bit off, but we just left ours in the pot a little while longer. For desert we had the milk chocolate and grand marnier and actually received a nice little buzz from it. Everyone eating was very respectful of the quiet/dimmed setting and the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend both for a private outing with a significant other or with a few friends. A+"

"I was there with A group of seven for restaurant week. We sat down to eat at 7:00 on a Sunday. We did not get served the first course until 8:10. We then had to wait as much as 20 minutes between getting courses, drink refills, etc. The food was unbelievably delicious but the see ice bordered on the ridiculous. We did not leave until 10:30 and that was after chasing down our waitress to give her the check. I understand hat restaurant week often means more customers, but the restaurant should staff accordingly. I also understand that fondue takes a long time but waiting 20 minutes for the next course to even be started was crazy. Luckily I was with great company!"

"The slogan on the windows, "A Different Dining Experience", just about sums it up. Nothing special or extraordinary ... just different. Total lack of culinary experience. Everything is cooked fondu style; and when it takes 5 mins per potato chunk, I do not recommend you arrive hungry. Also, with the slooooow cooking experience, I expected the waiter to be more attentive with drink service -- but that was not the case. We were lucky to be at a window booth. I could not image being seated at an interior, dark phone-booth type table with only the fondu pot to look at or next to a huge party of 8 or 12 sword fighting with their fondu folks. Maybe just a cheese or dessert fondu would be nice for the experience."

"As we sat near the bar, the noise was higher and the ambiance was not any different from any other chain dining experience.
The food again was about any other chain quality. It was very salty and low quality meat.
It was a unique idea to have the fondue pot at our table, but after leaving the restaurant, we ended up smelling like burnt grease.
The experience was nothing more than any other chain restaurant in an area around a conference hotel."

"I found our dining experience at the Melting Pot to be a bit underwhelming. Unfortunately for moderate prices, there are limited portions: while I for one believe American's have huge issues with portion control, this is one case were I found the serving sizes quite limiting. The associated vegetable sides and "dippers" are quite limited. For three people to share, approximately three pieces of broccoli, three mushroom caps, one quartered red potato is quite stingy. Other than that, we found two other issues: 1) the restaurant is warm, likely due to all the humidity and heat coming off the in-table John Boo heating elements/broths and 2) it takes way too long to dine here as cooking individual pieces of food in boiling broth is slow."

"Another fabulous girls night out at the Melting Pot. Such a fun, social way to dine. Our adorable waiters Mike and Tom graciously charmed all three generations of women at the table. If you're short on time and/or appetite, stick to the cheese and chocolate fondues. Those are the cant do without menu items IMO."

"I was excited to go to the melting pot but was disappointed as the night progressed. I made it there at 8:30pm and left at 11:15. The service was beyond slow! I could have fallen asleep in the booth. For my first time attending I was shocked that it took over 30 minutes for the server to bring out our main meal that was raw and meant for us to prepare ourselves. The food wasn't bad but the experience with the unbearable wait makes me uninterested to attend again."

"We went on our annual trip to the Melting Pot for my son's birthday this year. The food was fine but the service was terrible. The dinner took 3+ hours and on more then one occasion we had to leave our table to track down the waitress. We had a party of 10 so they put us in a private room and then promptly forgot about us. I don't think we will go back again. The worst part was that the tip was included in the check so we had to pay the full amount for service that was the worst I have experienced."

"We had a reservation for four people, 2 kids (8 & 15 years old) and 2 adults. We found the menu to be a little confusing but when explained a little easier and the food to be very tasty. "This is a chain restaurant. Cheese fondues are excellent! I was not a fan of their main entrees or their deserts. We had a "dark" chocolate fondue and it was not good, it tasted like Hershey's syrup! I was expecting to have actual chocolate, not that! I must say that service was slow, but spotless and our waiter was extremely educated, polite and patient."
