"We went to the Village Tavern in Southpark on Mother's Day. We have been here several times before and like the food very much. This time, due to the volume of the diners, the service suffered a bit. Both the dining room and outside patio were busy. Our server was very nice and took our drink order first. We then ordered our starter and entrees. We ordered the Cowboy Chips as a starter and they never came out until our entrees have already arrived. The server and the manager both apoligized to us and provided desert on the house. All said, we still enjoyed our dinner and would visit the Village Tavern again."

"VIllage Tavern has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years. As Mother's Day typically finds all restaurants busy , we opted for a Saturday pre-Mother's Day brunch at Village Tavern. We were seated very promptly, a great table outside on the patio. At first, our server was very pleasant and attentive. All was well until after we received our appetizers. Our entrees made rounds to different tables as they figured out who they belonged to. I asked for silverware (mine had dropped on the ground) and pointed out that our drinks were all empty. My requests went unheeded for an additional 20-25 minutes, until we stopped another server (who was a bit rude). We finally received drink refills at the end of the meal -- ridiculous!"

"I can't believe that I've been in Charlotte all these years and have just recently found this place. It seems that the locals wanted to keep this a secret for fear of something changing. Have eaten here several times and let me tell you, I would compare this food to an upscale place like Flemmings, without the price, any day of the week."

"We took our 3-yr old to a brunch with friends, and he was easily occupied for an hr and 1/2 - wait staff was kind and curteous to both him and us, which makes us want to go back. We felt it was the right balance between kid-friendly and not rushed; we'd happily go back again."

"Took my wife here for her birthday. Our server, Alex, was very helpful and attentive. We appreciated her wine suggestions and knowledge of the menu. The 10 spice salmon was excellent, I recommend it. My wife really enjoyed the filet marsala. The chocolate torte was the perfect end to our meal. However, the noise level was very high and made conversation difficult. I wouldn't consider this a romantic dining spot. They also do a killer brunch on Sunday's/"

"Great hidden food place. Typical American fare, but it's done well. Service was a bit slow around lunch time, but they were packed! Bacon wrapped scallops were a fantastic appetizer! They list Maryland-style crab cakes. I'm from Maryland. I asked if they were fried or broiled, they said they were pan fried. They were good for not being in Maryland, but if you're a Marylander, I'd pass on this. Overall, I'd give it another chance."

"Food was good. Service was sporadic. Iced tea never refilled but wine flowed easily. Hmmm. For the non drinker and designated driver, I was not impressed. Server frequently disappeared. We felt like the restaurant gave no weight to our reservation, as they only had one of two remaining center tables available when we arrived which were not prime seats. We felt like if our reservation had been 10 minutes later all the tables would have been gone. We felt like we just got the leftover table - not a reserved table."

"I have to admit that I didn't have high hopes for this place when my wife first mentioned it. Boy was I wrong! It's rare you find a restaurant that is priced right AND the food is delicious, but I'd have to say this is as close as you can get. It is definitely the most hidden restaurant I have ever been to, but very much worth the hunt. I had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly the way I asked. I also tried the wrapped scallops and they too were great. The green beans and rice were spot on. I could have easily made a meal from the green beans alone. Wife had the shrimp and grits, which were also delicious. This place could charge much more for what you get here. I would put this meal up against Del Frisco's any day of the week. Needless t"

"Once again we were not disappointed with our dinner the other night. I had the Seafood Trio - the evening's special - and my husband had prime rib. Both were delicious, well prepared and served hot. Our waiter was attentive to our wine glasses, as well as our water glasses.

"First time for us at this location. Have been to the Village Tavern in Winston-Salem, many times and never been disappointed. The Charlotte location is pretty much the same. There is an outdoor dining area that I am sure is wonderful, but we were here during a snow storm, so obviously didn't get to see it in action. Our service was fantastic, the food delicious. We will definitely go back now that we are aware that this location is there. It was a bit hard to find using the GPS, but after leaving the restaurant, realized there was a much easier way to access it. "We were an hour early for our reservation and the hostess had no problem seating us in
our requested booth. 5 stars for hostess. Waitress was excellent and gets 5 stars. She allowed us to order several courses as we wished and provided the wine and decanter
as we wished. Food selected was excellent with 5 starts!!! A great restaurant at great prices!! We will return soon. Well managed restaurant with great staff!!"
