"This is out most favorite Italian gem. We try to go at least once a week for the fine food, friendly owner and staff, casual but formal atmosphere. Our favorites are the whole (or filet) Red Snapper, Salmon Bernaise, any pasta, Lamb, Veal and/or Chicken Marsala. You cannot go wrong with this choice find for your favorite Italian Trattoria."

"I enjoyed my dinner. The server was attentive and friendly. He welcomed us warmly when we entered and really showed a desire to make our dining experience pleasant. This was my second time there and plan to return again."

"Carbonara Trattoria has become our favorite Italian restaurant outside Italy. You just can't get anything better in the greater Atlanta area as far as the authenticity of the food is concerned, and some dishes we've only eaten previously in Italy! We recently hosted a a large group of friends at a surprise dinner party there and were thrilled at the way the evening turned out. Everyone raved about the food/wine, atmosphere, service and friendliness of the owner and his staff. Since then, a number of them have returned to Carbonara for dinner and continue to rave about it. We've made it our "go-to" spot for a reason: it's the best!"

"As Italians, it's difficult for us to find a great Italian restaurant, but Carbonara Trattoria is that place!! The dishes are authentic, the service is impeccable, the owner/staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great! Locals are lucky to have such a neighborhood destination for great Italian food and folks from surrounding areas would be wise to check it out. It surely will become a favorite dining spot!"

"Carbonara Trattoria is a fabulous neighborhood Italian restaurant. We try to visit this gem once a week and have always been very pleased with the service and the menu choices. We mostly enjoy the fresh fish and pasta dishes but the lamb chops are a treat as well. The owner is very charming, friendly and accommodating in every way. When it is not just the two of us, we dine with family and friends and this is our restaurant of choice.Top notch!"

"We started by asking for every wine NOT available on the list and the little promotional tent card. And told specials could not be split onto 2 plates. Then of course they did split as we asked and all was well. Food great. Good time with friends."

"We go there often. The food is exceptional with a good array of choices, including things not seen in most eateries. Portion sizes are ample, not the overflow one often gets in traditional Italian restaurants. Sesserts are exceptional."

"Carbonara is still a neighborhood joint -albeit a busy neighborhood joint on a Friday night- that has not yet been discovered and over-run by metroAtlanta. Unpretentious and food focused. I've been twice and the food is great. Really nice variety of simple, delicious Italian dishes done fantastically. We had the mussels and also pear and prosciutto salad for apps - yum! My boyfriend had a special request for the mussel sauce ("Boston style") which was done to perfection according to him. Then we had the spaghetti carbonara (GOTTA - it's the restaurant namesake!) and the risotto special - yum again! The bar looked like a good place to catch up with friends or get to know someone, like on 1st or 2nd date, with its hightop tables and couches."

"Probably the best carbonara I've had outside of Italy, and the rest of the food was excellent, too. This is a very nice location - would be good for a date or a special occassion, but not a destination by itself. The service is good, but clear these are college students trying very hard to please and not professional service. Overall, an excellent choice in Dunwoody, and one of the best Italian restaurants outside of downtown or Buckhead."

"Tables are too close together. Service was very good and the food was also very good but seemed a little expensive for what we ordered. Not sure if we would go back again."

"The owner greeted us as if he has known us for years and guided us through the various menu options (even some that were not on the menu!). The salmon was excellent, wine delicious and service was great! We will definitely return!"

"We had heard great things about this restaurant and were not disappointed. The owner is beyond charming and is very conscientious about what's happening in the restaurant. He made great suggestions and was very accommodating modifying recipes to suit our dietary needs and taste. Two of us wanted the Seafood Linguini Fra Diavolo but did not want the marinara sauce so it was cooked in white wine..it was delicious. The other dishes ordered were the Osso Buco and Lamb...both were very tasty...the veal was so tender and just fell off the bone. Sunday nite was half price on select bottles of wine...quite the deal at $13 a bottle. All in all we were very pleased and would go back in a heartbeat! Oh, did I mention the bread was scrumptious??!!"

"We came to Carbonara for dinner on our 25th anniversary. What a good choice! The owner welcomes patrons, and leads the staff in service which is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The menu offers traditional and interesting Italian options. I had that evening's special, a spinach ravioli with ricotta and walnuts, which was quite delicious. My husband enjoyed his pasta carbonara. There's a nice wine list. Since it was a special occasion, we treated ourselves to dessert - the tiramisu was excellent. Midweek, while business was steady with about half the tables occupied, it was pleasantly quiet. The location is convenient, tucked into a neighborhood shopping center. We will be back!"

"We had issues with our order. The waiter got the order wrong the first time and he had to take it back. We order filets medium. When they came out they were Rare! They took them back to cook more. The owner came and took care of our whole meal because of the errors. It was pleasant to have a restaurant willing to two care of their mistakes. We will definately visit again."

"Server seemed overwhelmed and rushed. Took an hour between app and entre and the server didnt stop to ask how we were until 45 min into that wait. Server also insulted my wine selection and recommended one that cost 50% more causing an awkward situation."

"My husband and I took friends to Carbonara on Saturday night. The pasta was great, the fish was awesome, and we appreciated the diverse wine list. Carbonara is a great fit for Dunwoody: friendly and laid back, but a step up from the typical burger/Mexican restaurant. We will definitely return."

"Carbonara Trattoria is a neighborhood gem for many reasons including a very good wait staff, a caring owner and wonderful food. It is the kind of place is perfect for either a romantic evening or a casual but elegant dining experience where you never feel rushed but always attended to by both the wait staff and the owner. There were four of us dining with all getting a different entree and everyone was well pleased with their selection. Being on a special diet, the waiter took great care in making sure everything that I ordered was to my liking. We will continue to go back because there is nothing we did not like about the restaurant."

"On the Tuesday night I dined there it was quiet but I've been there when the noise-level was "energetic." Families and couples from the neighborhood really like this place. The server on my most recent visit barely exhibited a pulse. Didn't come back to check on how we liked the meal or to provide any other service. But still a favorite with a good menu, owner is very personable, love it!"

"Took the in-laws out for dinner and we all loved it. Justin did a great job taking care of us. We the Veal was fantastic and 2 of us had the Osso Bucco and it just fell off the bone.
Great job"

"The restaurant was over-booked. It was so crowded the staff had to squeeze through tables. My husband and I finished a full bottle of wine before we even were served dinner (more than an hour after being seated). The food wasn't worth the long wait. The majority of the diners were older so I most definitely wouldn't recommend it to young couples. We spent the entire night listening to the two tables we were stuffed between while making room for staff to get by and diners politely apologizing as they squeeze past on their way in/out."
