This charming 28-seat West Village restaurant has quickly become one of the city's most sought after reservations. Joey Campanaro's simple-yet-inspired American-Mediterranean cuisine, warm hospitality, and a friendly and professional service team, helps create the quintessential New York dining experience for New Yorkers and visitors alike. Inquisitive guests can peek into the kitchen and watch Joey create his signature dishes, including Gravy Meatball Sliders, homemade Ricotta Cavatelli and of course, The Little Owl's famous Pork Chop.
"32 seats only so book!!! lovely location in Greenwich. Portions were large, crispy chicken with asparagus, steak with papadelle and fries all lovely with a excellent house red. Used by locals as well as us tourists - will certainly call in again next time we are in New York."

"We we're afraid we'd end up in a tourist trap but fell in love with the staff as well as the atmosphere. The tuna was a knock-out (the best my husband has ever had) and the salmon was deliscous!"

"Plan reservations early because this place is phenomenal and not to be missed. What a gem to the neighborhood of the West Village. Tree-lined streets and gorgeous brownstones/co-ops make the experience one to remember for a very long time."

"This was our third visit. The food on the first two was exceptional-especially the pork chop and chicken entrees. This time the pork chop was dry, the calamari appetizer was bland and the side of kale sauteed in garlic absolutely tasteless."

"We arrived first so we could choose our table. Cool. Welcoming was good and smiling. Deco is fine. The rest was ok, food was good though not fantastic. Wine was good but a bit overpriced Waiters were 50% of their time scotched to their mobile. When you want to be a renowned restaurant for me it's a show stopper And only for that I'd give a lower rating."

"Utterly charming, very small, spectacular dishes. We four women filled the table with food and left not a crumb. Every dish was perfectly prepared. Atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Go!"

"The little Owl never disappoints, from the service to the food everything was perfect! But please make a reservation this place has about 28-30 seats max, reservation was at 5pm and by 5:30 the place was full. Noteworthy: the meatball sliders and the pork chop also had the corn soup appetizer."

"I've been eating at Little Owl for a number of years. I was taking a friend to lunch for her birthday. I was a bit disappointed. We shared a corn chowder which was good but nothing special. I ordered the lobster risotto, which had very little lobster in it. My friend seemed to enjoy her hamburger. We shared a rhubarb crisp for dessert, which was enjoyable. All in all not as good as past meals at Little Owl."

"Very accommodating as I had to change the group number several times. The service was friendly and unrushed. The good was very good. Standouts were the pasta special, the lobster and the halibut. Good wine for decent prices. Definitely will come back."

"We had a wonderful experience at the Little Owl. It is a beautiful restaurant, bustling with people and the service was excellent. The food was outstanding. I would have liked to have eaten here every night, no where else in Manhatten came close!"

"The food - Risotto appetizer, dinner of roasted cod for companion and "The" Pork Chop for me - was truly spectacular. The service was painfully slow and not particularly friendly. We sat waiting for our bill for more than 20 minutes. By the way - unless you're in DESPERATE need of a caffeine fix, we don't recommend ordering coffee with dessert. It was so awful, we could not stop laughing about it. Perhaps it's a ploy to deter folks from hanging out to chat for a bit over dessert?"

"We've travelled extensively across North America, and always look for excellent places to eat. This one ranks with the best we have ever found, even in Paris and Savannah. Every mouthful was a delight. We would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!!!"

"This is a very very small place, but it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was great, staff were efficient and friendly. I was not at all disappointed in this funky little place! You must reserve though, and sometimes you have to wait for your table but it is worth the wait!"

"My daughter and I were on the hunt for the best burger in NYC and we believe that we found a contender in the Little Owl. The burger was juicy and seasoned perfectly. More so than some of the competitors we tested earlier. It's located in a quiet neighborhood and, unbeknownst to us, located in the building used as the exterior shot for the sitcom "Friends". Something we learned after dozens of tourist kept showing up to take photos.
The place is quite small so be sure to make a reservation to ensure seating."

"A lovely laid back place, intimate and cosy. We didn't feel rushed and the food was excellent. I loved the mismatched plates and cutlery - it gave it such charm. Yes, that's how I would describe it - charming. Go there, you won't regret it..."

"Artichoke salad was unremarkable. Had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation time. No place to even stand and wait. 28 seats plus a few bar stools is the entire restaurant, Halibut was good, as was the Pork Chop. Eggplant good too. Tables too close together....Probably won't be back."

"Very cute, cozy - read tiny space. We were seated right on time. Corn soup tasted like summer and they spit it for us unasked when waiter heard we planned to share. Fried chicken was tasty and hot, pork tacos tasted ok but didn't look appealing at all. Restaurant was full and quite loud. All in all it was good but I don't need to go again."

"Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance was so perfect. I was so thrilled with our experience and cannot wait to return. We got the meatball sliders, sardines, and gravlax apps, and then the pork chop and halibut for main courses, and everything was cooked perfectly. Service is stellar and warm."

"Pros: - Friendly and attentive staff - Prompt service - Excellent food! The meatball sliders are indeed incredible. My date ordered the halibut which was other-worldly. Maybe the best fish prep I've ever enjoyed. The spinach risotto was also borderline magical. - Great city-neighborhood vibe Cons: - A bit too warm - A bit too cramped
My girlfriend and I live in Maine and love the outdoors, particularly owls. We spent a few wonderful days in NYC recently and I wanted to surprise her by bringing her somewhere special. So glad we dined here at the Little Owl. An enchanting experience with a beautiful woman."

"The food was fantastic and the staff were attentive and friendly. However, beware...the restaurant is small and they pack the tables very close together. We were lucky that a table of 4 reduced to 2 and allowed both tables to have an excellent lunch. I think my review would have been very different if that had not happened."

"Great for an early pre theater dinner or after the theater. The menu changes often. Make your reservations way ahead as there are only a few tables. Small, charming and intimate. Signature pork chop dish was outstanding according to my husband. I had the monkfish. Not to my liking but would go again and try another dish. They only serve wine and wine cocktails. They are very accommodating to vegetarians and will create a special plate. Would recommend!"

"Went here for lunch with a friend. We made reservations, and were seated promptly. The space is super cute and charming, the service was very friendly, and the food was excellent. I had the burger, which was amazing, and my friend had the chicken cutlet which she loved. We split the brussel sprouts which were good, not great, have had better. Overall a great place for a cozy lunch."

"Absolute neighborhood gem! Great food and ambiance. I went on the early side to avoid a wait with 3 other people. The hostess was very nice and greeted us at the door. We had 2 dozen oysters for apps to share at the table. The oysters of the day were very crisp and delicious. I had the steak and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Mouth watering! I had a taste of the pork chop and I was debating about ordering that too! For dessert I had the warm pear crisp which I ate entirely. The ambiance was inviting with candle light which made conversation easy and intimate. Make reservations! Definitely my new go to spot!! Perfect for date night and a double date. Will not disappoint"

"The place is charming and the staff is terrific. The menu is creative and the food is nicely prepared, but we didn't find that the restaurant lived up to its glowing reputation. The dining room is way too dark, for once thing...one of us ordered the whole fish and found himself struggling to avoid the tiny fish bones in the near blackness of the room. The lamb shank was tasty but not falling-off-the-bone tender as advertised by our server. The pear tart was ordinary and rather bland. But we would give it another try because it's hard not to like the place."

"Living in New York City most of my life, dining is a large part of the cultural experience that I deeply value. The expectations of that experience (for the amount of money spent on dining) has been refined throughout the years. One non-negotiable is attention and detail and care of the waitstaff. The obligation to "read" the customers needs and provide individualized customer service based on those persevered needs is the benchmark of a competent server. Sorry to say, The Liitle Owl fell short in this category, and to that end short-changed me and my guest of a totally satisfying dining experience. A little kindness and specialized attention goes a long way in this city. However, food and atmosphere was exceptional."

"Although I had dinner with my sister we noted the lovely candlelit relaxed ambiance that would make for a very romantic evening. The service was great very attentive always ensuring our drinks were topped up. We both had pork chop as we had heard good things. Wow! Never had a pork chop as tasty and succulent in my life! My sister had chocolate soufflé and I had a coffee although I did try hers and it was delightful. A must try for NYC locals and visitors alike. Wonderful evening!"
