Lidia's features authentic, Northern-Italian dishes. Every item at the restaurant is house-made, entirely from scratch, with the best ingredients available. Breads and desserts are baked in house daily and each salad and entree is prepared fresh. Every day Lidia's offer a sampling of seasonal, daily-made pastas, as well as risotto and polenta dishes. Plates are refilled as often as you like by servers carrying pans of freshly cooked pasta through the dining room.

"Lidia's was spectacular, as always. Earthy, real, yet truly fine and inspired. I ordered the Mediterannean Sea Bass and was absolutely dazzled. It was perfectly prepared without breaking the calorie bank. I was once lucky enough to eat Chilean Sea Bass at the major port where it arrives. It was delicate and divine - one of those "foodie" moments. This fish was its equal...unbelievable.

The Happy Hour at Lidia's is a delight, as well, very generous in the in-house made breads, spreads and oiives, and the new crunchy chi chi beans are fun and delicious!

Chef Cody and the staff are so great, and the service staff is always top notch - management knows their stuff..."

"Very disappointed - the food was poor quality. My daughter and I go here for our "special" dinner when I get to visit her, and it has changed dramatically in the last year. The only thing that made it bearable was the service, which was very good. The osso bucco was fatty and the risotto was chewy and bland. Lidia would be extremely upset that this food has her name on it! My daughter and I are going to have to find a new place for our dinner."

"I love Lidia's. I've been going there so long that I consider this elegant restaurant to be a 'family dining' experience. I know most of the personnel and they know me.

One of my guest this time happens to be a vegan. She was so impressed with the way the staff accomodated her needs, from furnishing a different salad other than the house Caesar to giving her a special gnocchi dish as one of her pasta-tasting trios. She really appreciated the special service and raved over the gnocchi."

"Service was top notch. Some of the food was absolutely top notch but we were disapointed with a couple of our courses. Even with the disapointments in a couple of dishes the the good dishes more than made up for it. We tried the grilled octopus and the mushroom dish as appitizers. Was very suprised at how well the octopus was prepared, some of the most tender i've ever had. The mushrooms were recomened by our server and were very good also, maybe a little too much cheese? Second we had the wild boar ravioli. The actual meat inside the ravioli was superb but it was covered in a lemon butter sauce, could have done without. Pasta course was great. For dessert the sorbet tasted like cardboard? We will be heading back to try more dishes"

"We hoped to participate in KC Restaurant Week, but were not offered any special menus. Our server was pleasant but brought our check without asking if we wanted anything else like coffee (which we did) or dessert. I have been to Lidia's many times and always like it. This time it was a ho-hum experience. If it was my first time there I am not sure I would go back. Food was okay but not outstanding."

"Loved it! Absolutely beautifully decorated. Please be reminded that this is "Northern Italian" so even though Lidia's does offer several house made pasta's, there are a lot of seafood options as well. The sauces tend to be on the lighter side also, which you will appreciate when you try to fit into that swim suit!"

"We LOVE Lidia's!

This was our second visit. When we have out of town guest, we take them here... its our new "spot."

It is NOT cheap. Our bill for 4 adults with drinks was more than $300.00 so it is a special occaision type of place for us. Tons of food and dont skip the dessert!"

"The service we received did not justify the price point. The small details were lacking: communication between server and kitchen wasn't efficient, wrong salad came out, heavy dependence on salt, coffee had grounds in it. Also, we carefully informed our server about the vegetarian in our party to ensure her experience was excellent - she was immediately was offered meat containing dish by a kitchen runner. I wish I could say that these are isolated incidents bit I cannot - after several trips to Lidia's over the past few years there has always been good but over salted food and service issues that were enough to damage the experience."

"I have been to Lidias in the past and the food has been much better. The resturant wasn't very busy when we were there. The appetizers were good, but the pasta trio I had wasn't very good and the other dishes ordered in our party weren't very good either. Shrimp were overcooked in one dish. Gnocchi Duck Grazetto had too much tomato. Lasagna wasnt good. Overall, I dont think i'll be back soon, too expensive not to have good food. All in my family are big foodies and their comment was, "Mom you can cook better that this"! Good for me, not for Lidias! The atmosphere is always lovely, and service was great. We did enjoy the wine very much, great list with knowledgable staff to advise on the list."

"The food was great as usual! I have two complaints -* The tables were way to close to one another! I couldn't focus on my conversation due to the tables next to us being to loud.* Tried to get a drink at the bar with my wife before hand and didn't get acknowledged! I will not return to Lidia's for any holiday celebrations again, however, I will eat there on non-holiday events b/c we enjoy the food!"

"We chose this restaurant based on previous experience and for the specialty menu - the Feast of the Seven Fishes! Time between the first and second courses was a bit long, but the food was excellent. The entrees were wonderful, my husband's salmon was perfectly cooked and our dinners came to the table hot. The waitress was charming and attentive. We enjoy Lidia's and will be returning soon."

"Lidia's is always superb with excellent service and wonderful food. There is never a disappointment. My last visit, I enjoyed the Holiday "Seven Fishes Dinner." It was even more delightful than my usual dining there. This is one of my favorite restaurants worldwide. "We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Wonderful bread and spreads were brought right away. The waiter explained the daily specials and was knowledgable to suggest wine for my selection. The food was excellent and the dessert was wonderful. our extra food was boxed up and put in nice bags to take home. We are from Omaha and my daughter and I came a few weeks ago and we made a special trip to KC to bring the whole family this time."

We were disappointed when we brought a very special bottle of wine to share with our friends and were not allowed to pay a corkage fee and drink it. Wine list was extensive there but not the same as a special bottle with significance with friends. Took away from the overall enjoyment.

Also thought it was tacky that the $28.00 bottle list did not have dates on the wines.

"Our meals were outstanding as was the service. I ordered the special of the night, Feast of Seven Fishes. I ordered the swordfish as the main entree since I had never eaten this fish before. Unfortunately, it turns out I am not a fan of swordfish, but every other dish I was served was spectacular as was my husband's meal, the gnocci with duck. They do not offer a kids menu, but did their best to accomodate our three year old. It is quite loud and seating is very close together. As a result, I heard all of our neighbors conversations as clearly as our own. Overall we enjoyed our visit very much and will certainly return the next time we are in Kansas City."

"After just giving a GLOWING review at TripAdvisor based upon three weekend brunch experiences, I was in KC midweek and tried lunch. The soup (almost always a combo of some bean and some green the server informed me), was corona bean and escarole, but was bland as can be. I then had fettucine with sausage and broccoli raab. I love the slight bitterness of broccoli raab, but it didn't appear that the tepid plate of pasta I was served had any in it. The server sent it back to the kitchen and it came out HOT, but still no sign of any broccoli raab. The server was well informed and very eager to please, but the kitchen failed on this day."

"Excellent food, friendly and flexible staff. There were 7 of us, and Lidia's had put us at a small round, we asked if we could move to a bigger 8 top table and they easily complied. We heard so many times, whatever you want it is up to you. Super accommodating. Great Italian Wine List with wines at $28 per bottle. The Chicken in Lemon, Olive Oil and Capers, is to die for, the flavors are so good. Finished with a decaf Cappuccino, which is the best I have had since I was in Italy in 2008."

"Very busy Saturday night. Drinks came pretty quickly, and very good appetizer shortly thereafter. Longer wait for entrees which were generally good: Pasta Trio--very good as always. Lasagne also good per usual. Salmon entree--fine but unexceptional. Lamb chops marketed as special of the day were very disappointing.I get much better chops at the local supermarket which carries very good, tender Colorado lamb or Costco which has very good Australian chops. Lydia's chops were very tough, cooked rare instead of medium as ordered, and contained an unacceptable amount of gristle. Chops were also unsauced and would have benefitted from a mint vinaigrette or red wine pan sauce (whichis how I reheated the 2 remaining chops of the three I was served)"

"We made our reservations for 8:15 pm and there weren't people waiting for tables when we arrived. We still had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seated. The pasta trio was average. The dessert and salad were great. Overall the food is somewhat overpriced, but the decor was wonderful. Tables are placed closely together and the acoustics make it loud with a full dining room, so this isn't the best place for an intimate evening."

"We went there for the Thanksgiving meal and were very disappointed.

The waiter seemed to have forgotten us after he greeted us and gave us an opportunity to make two of our only decisions on the special menu. (entree and choice of soup or salad) Apparently he thought we were really slow to make decisions as he gave AMPLE time to decipher the meaning of life. (and no they weren't busy)

The soup and salad were good. The pastas were good. The deserts were OK.
Nothing special about the turkey. The ham unfortunately was unidentifiable as ham if you had been blindfolded. No flavor no taste. The four of us agreed between mediocre service and uninspired food we were all just disappointed. It seemed to be a waste of calories."

"The six of us had a wonderful evening at Lidia's. The lovely room was only outdone by the excellent service and the incredible food. My grilled salmon was perfect and my husband said he would order the duck and potato dumplings again. The quail and pasta trio was a big hit with our friends. The plate of cookies and homemade ice cream with Happy Birthday written in chocolate was such a cool topper to my birthday evening."

"I loved the atmosphere...but the service wasnt too good. We couldnt nderstand our waiter and before we had even ordered he sent out caesar salads that came along with a meal that he had described to us. I guess he thought that by asking about a certain meal meant that that's what we wanted? The food was good...but not fantastic. Overall it was a good experiance, just had it's kinks."

"We brought relatives from California over the Thanksgiving holiday because they enjoy watching Lidia's cooking show. I've been there a few times and it's been pretty good, but for some reason the food and atmosphere was better than I remembered. One of our guests, an Italian who loves food, had the lasagna bolognese and said it was better than her Mom made (sorry Mom)! It was a bit brighter atmosphere-wise than I remembered. Overall great experience and I'll put it on my list to return."

"All 3 in my party ordered the pasta tasting. I think this is a great idea. However, the pasta was not very hot when it arrived at the table because it is served int he pan in which it is cooked. I also though that the pasta choices were not too adventurous. They did not have exceptional or memorable flavors. The restaurant is attractive, and the service was attentive."

"The signage was terrible. If we had not been looking for it, and had a map and a Palm Pre, we would not have found it and would have just gone to Jack Stack. The service was not good. Our server seemed nice and professional, but after we had our meal, she disappeared. We did not see her for 30 min, by which time we were asking the bus boys for assistance. Two of our party had coffee (which needed refilling), and two of our party had never-ending pasta dishes (which needed refilling). Of course, she showed up at the end of the meal. The food was very good, very enjoyable!"

"I was so impressed with everything from my visit from the beginning to the end I would suggest Lidia's to anyone whether they know who she is or not.
The staff was nothing short of amazing, friendly, willing to suggest an item or wine and did not overkill with the standard "is everything to your liking?" that too many ask and do not really mean. I was able to speak with the Manager, the kitchen Chef and our server to thank them all for the wonderful dinner and service.
The food was so much more than I had expected, the flavors were amazing, clean and clear what you were eating with the best ingredients and cooked to perfection.
I am looking forward to trying out another location as I travel!
Do not miss this restaurant!"

"Wow! Everything was perfect! There is still an establishment that honestly cares about the customers they serve. From our initial greeting to our farwell we felt like a valued family member. We chose the unlimited pasta menu as this was our first visit to Lidia's. Honestly, we couldn't finish our first serving as the portions were generous but it truly was a remarkable value. The desserts were pure genious, we ordered a tiramisu (lightest we have ever tasted) and a wonderful apple cake served with a demi-scoop of cinnamon ice cream served on what was a delightful velvet bed of the silkiest applesauce ever made. I wish all restaurants took the personal pride that Lidia's Kansas City does in their establishment."

"Lunch on a beautiful autumn day with old friends. We sat inside, but next to window at a round table great for conversation amongst the 5 of us. Menu seemed limited & different from what we had previewed online. Turnip scallion soup was yummy. Other than that, each of our lunch selections were disappointing, very mundane, nothing special, didn't really live up to the billing on the menu and not really worth the price. (Greasy fried potatoes wrapped around a miniscule amount of shrimp or sausage...I can go to IHOP for that.) It was a busy weekday. Service was poor. It felt like we were being ignored. I have eaten at Lidia's before and enjoyed it. This was the first lunch experience & worst experience that I have had there."

"We went to Lidia's for Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good. The Antipasto and Dessert tables were great hits. Interesting flavors and combinations. We tried everything and it was wonderful. We ordered our entrees off the menu, and selections ranged from the Filet to Octopus to Frico's, which are a signature dish for Lidia's. Of all the entrees, only the Frico's were slightly less than expected. It's a carmelized cheese envelope with your choice of fillings. It was just a little saltier than what we prefer. Otherwise, everything was great."

"it was a good italian place. i think i expected so much more. we only had pasta - perhaps oso buco would have been more of a memorable experience. the patio would be amazing in warmer weather. we sat in one of the booth tables and the space between each table was less than 8 inches. the skinny lady at the table next to ours could barely squeeze out. so it was a little close for comfort."

"Excellent food and service. The pastas were wonderful of course (especially the flavorful mushroom filled ravioli - the pasta was very tender). The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Local (within 100 miles of the restaurant) ingredients are used (except for wines and some cheeses) and everything is made from scratch on the premise. Portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. On a friday evening there were young couples on romantic dates, families with children, groups of friends, older tourists (us) and local foodies. The restaurant is a beautiful space. Enjoy!"

"The location was about the only thing that I really liked about this place. I had the pasta trio and the only thing I "kind of" liked was the butternut squash ravioli.

"We did not care for the pasta. The one with the sausage in it tasted horrible. Looking around the room nobody was eating that one. Was expensive for what it was. Did like the ceaser saled! Probably would not go back or recommend."

"I ordered triple pasta............the squash ravioli was good. The fettucini was like my Moms old (but good)noodle casserole and the bowties with marinara was way too plain and uninteresting. A disappointment for "what you are known for". Goat cheese cheesecake interesting. Ambiance outstanding...."
