"Reconstructed warehose without any warehouse feel. Food is the star but this place is big city, and an easy walk from great hotels, science museum and Jazz and Blues festival, in season. I've been here many times on quiet dates, and once when a nice waitress helped cut food for our 5 children. Not your mafioso Italian, but gormet dishes served under blown glass chandeliers. Lydia knows how to turn out quality nouveau Italian, and the price is exactly what you would expect to pay for a quality dining experience!"

"First visit for brunch but will be back. Brunch was a set price, fair price for all of the options. Over a dozen entree offerings providing hot fresh food instead of some brunches that offer buffets. The Sunday Sauce was hearty, tasty, and enough for multiple meals. "I had made reservations for ten, but five more joined us at Lidia's. I told the host I needed to add more to our graduation dinner and he said give him a few minutes. When we were seated at our table it was covered in 2013 confetti. The added touch of a plate of Tiramisu decorated with congratulations was a very pleasant and wonderful surprise. The servers and other guests gave my graduate and family a very memorable evening. Amazing atmosphere, food, and staff."

"This place has great food and is very pretty but can be very noisy if they are packed, Service the night we were there was just ok, however they were very busy and I think the waiter was doing the best he could considering her had several large parties and there was just the two of us. Would definitely go back the food is always great!!"

"I was told Lidias was a great place to go by a coworker, and on their reccmedation I had high expectations. Upon arriving I was informed they were overbooked and even though we had reservations we would have to wait. After nearly 30mins we were offered seating outside which we took even though we didn't want too. The Patio was loud from ambient noises and the I early obnoxious sever. After ordering it took 45 mins to get our food, which was bland and uninspiring. Though the dress code was stated as business casual many of the patrons were in shorts and T-shirts. We will not be returning to Lidias as they were unable to live up to the most moderate of expectations. I would advice those looking for a nice intimate location to go elsewhere."

"Several in my party had the Pasta Trio ($17 or $34 with salad and desert), in which you are served 3 different pasta dishes with unlimited refills. One of the three on this particular evening (can't remember the name) was just so-so, but the other two were fantastic - everyone wanted second helpings on the stuffed ravioli and the other one - some fettucine dish. I was a little dismayed by the wine prices, but I realize that's just how it is at places like this - $60 for a bottle of wine that you can probably get for $10 at a wine store. I really appreciate how easy it was to make reservations through this opentable.com system - Lidia's even called me several hours before to confirm. I would definitely recommend Lidia's to my friends."

The time between courses was excessive, so much so that i had to inquire as if food was ever going to arrive after the salad course.
The service was not quite as attentive as it should be in a place of this caliber. They also didnt provide steak knives to cut the dishes that required them....they also do not offer the frill service of pepper grinding or extra parmesan cheese.
Quite a few of us ordered the Pasta Trio...which was excellent....but they did not bring it around very often as they said they would.

"I was very impressed with the service and atmosphere created by the staff at Lydia's. When we walked thru the door and announced who we were and our reservation time the host wished both my wife and myself a Happy Anniversary. The person who seated us did the same. Our table was specially decorated for the occasion and was in a perfect location for a romantic dinning experience. Our Server also greeted us in the same manner. The food was excellent and upon finishing our meal, we were pleasantly surprised by the presentation of our dessert. Lydia's went over and above to make our anniversary a fabulous dinning experience."

"I visited Lidia's for the first time this past Saturday. It was by far the best Italian food I have had in America. It can definitely compete with the great Italian food in Italy! The service was excellent. It was also my birthday which they brought me homemade mint ice cream with a candle to wish me a happy birthday. They really went all out! I would highly suggest this restaurant to any Italian lovers. It is great for a special occasion."

"As the title states, this is our "go-to" restaurant when we want to celebrate any type of event. It never disappoints. On this night it seemed that the wait staff was a little short staffed or perhaps our reservation was at an odd time and we started our meal when everyone else was winding down which presented some issues for the wait staff. The Pasta Trio was fantastic as always. I ordered the gnocchi as I usually do and it was good but quite salty. Almost to the point where I could barely taste the pasta trio items that I tried. Either way it was still a fantastic meal at a fantastic establishment. Highly recommend."

"A group of six of us had dinner earlier this week. The ambience and environment were spot-on perfect for a business dinner. The wine selection is well done, with something to satisfy any palate.
Portions were good size and came out fairly quickly. The wait staff were attentive but not intrusive. They had a firm grasp on the various menu items, as well as specials and could speak in detail to any questions asked by the table.
We came away impressed and eager to return when business brings us back to KC."

"My husband and I have talked about going to Lidia's for ever. We decided that this year for his and my birthday we would take the road trip. I made the reservation and explained that it was for his birthday. I choose the triple pasta since Lidia is known for the pasta. We had bows with veg., ribbons with ragu and ravioli. The bows were under cooked you could see it, the ribbon/ragu was soooo salty and the ravioli were ok. I mentioned it to the server. She told the manager and she took it off our bill. I said that wasn't necessary but she insisted. My son was there the week before on business and also decided after me talking about it decided to go. And said the pasta was so so and one was over cooked."

"Nice ambiance and service. I read reviews before we went and got the Trio - disappointing, it was a lot of noodle and not much protein. Dessert was ho hum.So, as an earlier reviewer noted, I'd probably like it better for lunch, but all things considered not enough bang for the buck."

"Wonderful Staff food everything was perfect until our dinner fell apart with a 25 minute wait between starters and entry. Nice recovery but PLEASE I had 9 guest who were all looking at me their host with WFT??? I would have gladly used a prefix menu with limited options to prevent this very embarrassing delay."

"I had the Thursday evening special of chicken, potatoes, and sausage with Balsamic Vinegar. It was a large plate of all the items cut into pieces topped with the Balsamic glaze. It looked like a plate of indecipherable brown pieces. It was unappetizing looking and not tasty at all. I was very disappointed and will not take guests from out of town back there again."

"Expected a little more items on the menu. Food was very good. Dined at the bar and service from Bartender very good. I think it was Joe, but not certain. Mildly surprised at cost. Lower than I expected, with exception of dessert while was very small.
I would definitely go back and highly recommend. Not your typical Italian"

"My wife took me to Lidia's for a birthday brunch. They recognized my birthday when I entered the restaurant, they had flowers on the table and a gilato with a candle for dessert ( they had cake on the buffet). The brunch, as usual, the service at Lidia's is first class."

"We went to Lidia's for a birthday brunch and noted the special occasion when making our reservation. It was such a treat to arrive to our table and find it had been decorated with confetti. We loved that Lidia's took the extra step to add something special to the table for the occasion.
The brunch was excellent! We all ordered something different and couldn't stop raving about our meals. Cannot wait to return!"
