Lidia's features authentic, Northern-Italian dishes. Every item at the restaurant is house-made, entirely from scratch, with the best ingredients available. Breads and desserts are baked in house daily and each salad and entree is prepared fresh. Every day Lidia's offer a sampling of seasonal, daily-made pastas, as well as risotto and polenta dishes. Plates are refilled as often as you like by servers carrying pans of freshly cooked pasta through the dining room.

"I requested a secluded, romantic table and was treated to just that. The server was helpful and accessible, but not ever-present. The food was amazing. The attention to detail from the chefs and the wait staff was all we could ever ask for. We will definitely be back."

"service was excellent---very professional, knowledgable, and friendly-----atmosphere was different than what i expected---not a typical quiet and low-key italian restaurant-----much more of a "celebration" personality to the entire experience-----and the food was very good----we had 4 people in the group and i made sure everybody ordered something different so we could sample----consensus was that everything was above average. with a few items being really really good."

"My party of four grew to 11 at the last minute. Two phone calls and 5 minutes later, no problem. Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and highly recommend wine list and variety of entrees. Server, actually an ambassador on behalf of the excellent kitchen staff, was efficient and a real pleasure to work with. Five Stars!"

"Great restaurant with superb food, nice atmosphere, and excellent service. We tried the three pasta dish where you can get as mush as you want and each pasta was so good, we had a tough time making a decision for seconds. Highly recommend Lidia's for any occassion."

"my dining experience was average. there was nothing special about the food. it was overpriced. the waitress didn't smile the entire time we were in her care, and she never came to our table to check on us after the food was brought to us. the man filling the water glasses was the best part of the restaurant. he was attentive and very friendly. i woulnd not recommend Lidia's to anyone."

"It was a birthday, and although that was mentioned when I made the reservation, apparently there is no attention to the "notes for maitre d".
Otherwise, the services was excellent as always and the food was prepared for me - I don't eat seafood, so the shrimp dish was prepared without shrimp. it wasn't just taken out."

"I was so impressed with everything from my visit from the beginning to the end I would suggest Lidia's to anyone whether they know who she is or not.
The staff was nothing short of amazing, friendly, willing to suggest an item or wine and did not overkill with the standard "is everything to your liking?" that too many ask and do not really mean. I was able to speak with the Manager, the kitchen Chef and our server to thank them all for the wonderful dinner and service.
The food was so much more than I had expected, the flavors were amazing, clean and clear what you were eating with the best ingredients and cooked to perfection.
I am looking forward to trying out another location as I travel!
Do not miss this restaurant!"

"Food was excellent, ambiance conducive to the restaurant type and better than most restaurants of this menu fare. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the specials and the menu in general and attentive to all our needs as guests and patrons. Prices were reasonable for the items ordered with specialty items more expensive, as expected. All dishes ordered were prepared properly with wonderful aromas and flavor. Portions were larger than expected for the price, making them a great value. Enjoyed the evening and will definitely return again to try other menu items."

"Wow! Everything was perfect! There is still an establishment that honestly cares about the customers they serve. From our initial greeting to our farwell we felt like a valued family member. We chose the unlimited pasta menu as this was our first visit to Lidia's. Honestly, we couldn't finish our first serving as the portions were generous but it truly was a remarkable value. The desserts were pure genious, we ordered a tiramisu (lightest we have ever tasted) and a wonderful apple cake served with a demi-scoop of cinnamon ice cream served on what was a delightful velvet bed of the silkiest applesauce ever made. I wish all restaurants took the personal pride that Lidia's Kansas City does in their establishment."

"The food was very flavorful and the service was outstanding. The creativity to combine certain flavors together is unique. We really enjoyed their special November menu which hightlighted squash in the appetizers and entrees. We had the Bruschetta from the November menu and it was fantastic. "I have dined at other restaurants owned by Lidia, and found this to be somewhat disappointing. The pastas were bland and watery, but at the same time, other entree's sampled were very good. "Lunch on a beautiful autumn day with old friends. We sat inside, but next to window at a round table great for conversation amongst the 5 of us. Menu seemed limited & different from what we had previewed online. Turnip scallion soup was yummy. Other than that, each of our lunch selections were disappointing, very mundane, nothing special, didn't really live up to the billing on the menu and not really worth the price. (Greasy fried potatoes wrapped around a miniscule amount of shrimp or sausage...I can go to IHOP for that.) It was a busy weekday. Service was poor. It felt like we were being ignored. I have eaten at Lidia's before and enjoyed it. This was the first lunch experience & worst experience that I have had there."

"We went to Lidia's for Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good. The Antipasto and Dessert tables were great hits. Interesting flavors and combinations. We tried everything and it was wonderful. We ordered our entrees off the menu, and selections ranged from the Filet to Octopus to Frico's, which are a signature dish for Lidia's. Of all the entrees, only the Frico's were slightly less than expected. It's a carmelized cheese envelope with your choice of fillings. It was just a little saltier than what we prefer. Otherwise, everything was great."

"it was a good italian place. i think i expected so much more. we only had pasta - perhaps oso buco would have been more of a memorable experience. the patio would be amazing in warmer weather. we sat in one of the booth tables and the space between each table was less than 8 inches. the skinny lady at the table next to ours could barely squeeze out. so it was a little close for comfort."

"Excellent food and service. The pastas were wonderful of course (especially the flavorful mushroom filled ravioli - the pasta was very tender). The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Local (within 100 miles of the restaurant) ingredients are used (except for wines and some cheeses) and everything is made from scratch on the premise. Portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. On a friday evening there were young couples on romantic dates, families with children, groups of friends, older tourists (us) and local foodies. The restaurant is a beautiful space. Enjoy!"

"I ordered triple pasta............the squash ravioli was good. The fettucini was like my Moms old (but good)noodle casserole and the bowties with marinara was way too plain and uninteresting. "Food was, in every regard, and every morsel, excellent. Top-notch ingredients, lovingly prepared with obvious care, and a menu with great and varied (within the scope of the cuisine) selections.

Wait staff was attentive, polished, friendly. Checkout staff, too were personable and helpful.

Our table of three enjoyed fritto misto (shrimp, calamari, julienned zuccini, and fine strands of onion, lightly breaded and deep-fried); a steak and pesto panini; Caesar salad; a very refreshing beet and pear salad; an aromatic zuccini and butter-bean with rosemary and roasted garlic soup; a tiramisu that was so rich and so delicious that for the first time I understood why it is so widely offered; and assorted cookies with espresso-doused gelato"

"We truly enjoyed Lidia's. The wait staff were attentive & delightful. The wine list extensive, reasonably priced. The $28 bottle of Chianti-Tico went well with our food choices. The food was outstanding. We shared the zupppa de mer- fish stew. Our friends had the Osso Bucco, a little on the fatty side. We had the Frico, a stuffed fried potato, the special salad with pears, walnuts & gorgonzola cheese on mixed greens. They were more than happy to split our entres, appetizers and anything else. The desserts-3 types of gelati-cherry, salted caramel and blueberry, and the tiramisu surpassed our expectations. We were neither rushed nor hurried. Highly recommend Lidia's and make reservations."

"This is my 7th visit to Lidia's with my family. We made our reservations for the brunch & we were late on getting an accurate head count, so we were not able to get in until 1:00PM.
I chose the Salmon for my main course. Two others did also. It ws without a doubt the best salmon I have ever eaten anywhere and I have eaten alot of salmon in my 78 years of life. Others selected the three pasta dish and I do not think it was as well received.
Oversll, the food was incredibly good. If there is a concern, it was that the antipastie was obviously well received by the patrons before us, because some items were
not readily available and we had to wait until after we had consumed the main course before the regular items were replenished."

"They treated my group wonderfully. We were going to homecoming and have received under-par service from other restraunts restaurants probably because we are teenagers. The Lemon Chicken was delicious - lots of wonderful tartness, with a nice amount of olives and capers, Osso Bucco was tender and moist with a tasty accompaniment of cheesy orzo, but the pasta trio was way too low on flavor with about a tablespoon of sauce on each of the 3 pastas. It is definitely worth giving a try, especially to enjoy the renovated rail-car building (look up high to see some fabulous blown-glass chandeliers in whimsical colors), but order something other than the pasta. (Kind of too bad since they pride themselves on their pasta made fresh daily)."

"We celebrated a good friend's birthday with dinner at Lidia's. Four of us had the pasta sampler that night, and all three pastas were excellent. "Very disappointing...waitress was great but the food was well below par..I had glazed pork ribs with red cabbage salad...very tough even with a steak knife...salad tasted like nothing but vinegar...manager did waive any charge for the meal...my wife had duck and gnoche...not much duck but lots of gnoche mushed together...all in all a wasted anniversary dinner..will not return.."

"The food and service was wonderful - as always. However, this is the first time I took a special friend for their birthday. I was happy to see the restaurant brought out a special dish of birthday goodies with Happy Birthday written in Chocolate even. My only complaint is when that special birthday dessert, $7.50, was added to my bill at the end of the night. When spending $250 for three diners, I would expect the restaurant not to charge me for the birthday cookies and candle.

I was still a good experience and will probably go back in the future, but I will not be using this restaurant for special occasions anymore. I considered this a missed opportunity for what was otherwise a perfect dining experience."

"Their 3 Pasta selection is always good. Brunch offers great selection from salad bar (self service) and then the entree and as much as you want on the pasta, followed by self service dessert. Wine offers good selection. Outdoor patio is available. Normally, service is outstanding. Our server was slow getting back to check that we were ready for food. We had a 2 pm play so had reservations for 12:15 to allow ample time. Lidia's is one of our favorites."

"Lidia's brunch is an elegant bargain. Dining room is pleasant and sunny, the terrace is large and inviting. Nice view of city and union station. There are three brunch courses, at least two of which include many seasonal dishes that are very well prepared. Many nice small touches also, like three types of butter, assorted fresh rolls/scones at the table, and good coffee. Fresh squeezed orange juice also available. All this for a very reasonable set price. Dinners also include many local, seasonal items, very well prepared. Dining room is nice for special occasion. And bar area, with the huge fireplace, is nice for casual drinks/dining. Service staff is professional. Feels like a happening place"

"Although we thought the restaurant itself had a cool feel and our wait team was great, we just did not care for the food. I was anticipating something special, but honestly, the pasta dishes were very plain and unflavorful, the salad mediocre and the desserts were just very odd combinations that did not work. While considered a little expensive, we typically do not care about the price if the dining experience is good. On this trip to KC however, felt like we got more enjoyment and bang for the buck at Winstead's!"

"We had the special 3 pasta dinner. The alfredo with shrimp was the best of the 3, but it only came with 4 salad size shrimp. The ravioli was ok, but i got four. The pasta with egg plant had about one teaspoon of eggplant. This meal wasn't as goog as an OLIVE GARDEN SPECIAL. The ice cream for dessert came with a side order of carmel corn that was burned. That should have never left the kitchen."

"I had personally been to Lidia's myself twice at lunch time. My sister was in town from San Francisco CA and my brother from Chicago IL and so 7 of my family members went to Lidia's upon my suggestion. I can honestly say this was the best experience eating out that I can think of in a long time. From the hostess point to the very end of the meal was simply perfect and so enjoyable. Our waiter was outstanding and made sure to explain everything to us and offered suggestions that were a hit! "My date and I enjoyed the Pasta Fixe... actually too much food for her. The idea of a three course meal with that great of service was awesome and we enjoyed it very much. There were a couple large groups that seemed to be having a good time as well. The interior was interesting and as an interior design student it provided quite a conversation piece. The brunch looks more our speed and we planned on going back to Lidia's to experience that. I personally enjoyed the freshly made pasta and all the food we ate was made just right. The host didn't follow the special request I sent so I recommend not even bothering. Overall very good."

"This restaurant always meets my high expectations. The food is superbly prepared and plated and the staff is friendly and warm. By far the best Italian food I've ever eaten. Great selections and authentic as you can get in this county if not in Italy. Tomato festival menu was terrific with heirloom tomatoes throughout each of the three courses. Prices are high, but match quality and aren't out of the ballpark even for those on a budget for very special occasions."

"Lidia's is my wife's favorite restaurant. The atmposhere is exceptional, the service is superior, and the food is extraordinary. It is usually a place we visit when we have a date night; however, on this most recent visit we took our children (ages 14, 8, 4) for lunch. The lunch menu is a shorter version of the dinner version and we did not have a problem finding something for our children to enjoy. "Everything was fabulous from the reservation to the host arranging cab service for us after dinner. My group really enjoyed the experience with the only complaint being the entrees seemed a little bland. However, it was a relaxing and enjoyable evening with great service and atmosphere. Thanks!"
