"John and Jordan made sure that our every need was taken care of in a non rushed and engaged manner. The food was great, especially, the mushrooms in parchment!! The Trout and the Duck were both excellent and I recommend Select highly.
The lighting was right on for a romantic dinner and I was just all around happy with the experience."

"So dinner was great, the food was delicious and we had a nice bottle of wine that seemed well-priced. HOwever, the address listed for the restaurant in OpenTable was incorrect, so we were late for dinner by 20 minutes. Other than that, a nice evening..."

"Had a spinach salad and this was the worst spinach salad I have ever had. There were tons of potatoes in my salad. Who puts potatoes in a salad? It was served with baked chickpea something or other. Potatoes and chickpeas with spinach, with no other fruit or vegetables in the salad. It was very disappointing. An effort of a fancy menu and new owners to cheap out. Won't be going back."

"First time being there and I was very happy with the night out. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once inside the whole world changes. The service was excellent and so was the food. Food is well priced for what it is. Only thing that was lacking was the dessert and drink selection. My wife and I had appetizers (gnocchi fondue, french onion soup) and entrees (pheasant, duck) but no dessert. Food portions are pretty generous, we didn't have much room left for dessert. The french onion soup was disappointing, it was made 'modern' not the way you would expect with french onion soup. Everything else we got was really excellent. My wife and I would definitely be back more in the future."

"Servers are friendly, well-informed about menu items and unobtrusive.
The menu has been recently updated and is not reflected on their website so be warned. The sea bass and cod entrees in particular were sadly missed.
We had issues with some of the dishes - particularly the pork which was almost entirely composed of fat. There is nothing worse than attempting to chew a lump of pure white fat but this was what was presented. The problem was rectified with another cut of meat which was greatly appreciated, however we were told the cuts of meat are inconsistent - with some being largely fat and others less so. This didn't seem like adequate reasoning and it only served to ensure we would not order that dish in the future."

"We had an amazing dinner, their new menu was out and absolutely everything we had was outstanding. I had their new Pheasant entree and I have to say, the chef certainly has outdone himself. The Pheasant is my new favorite! The appetizers had been a hit with everyone, the duck poutine and tempura baby tomatoes, awesome. Deserts were a hit as well. Thank you for another wonderful dinning experience!"

"To be honest walking up to the entrance you are hesitant as to what you may find behind the doors, this truely looks like the proverbial hole in the wall. Luckly we have taken this path and ventured into the unknown, what an amazing experience. This is a hidden gem, showcasing the Edmonton downtown food scene. Not a large menu which means what they do they do very well. and the wine list has something for every taste ( and price ). Do not forget to make reservations... or you will be left out in the cold. And end your meal with a blueberry tea and the cheese cake in a jar... you will be glad you did :)

"Select has a charming atmosphere. Though seemingly casual from the outside the inside has a romantic evening ambiance with warm lighting and wood tones. The menu is varied and has something for every taste. The risotto was amazing, the cod was light and delicious (though a bit rubbery in texture). Salads were light and flavorful.
The service was a little too attentive for my taste. Our server, though very nice and friendly, came back every 10 minutes to check on us, take things off the table, refill our waters (even though they were almost always more than half full). It was a constant interruption and more than I would have preferred. Our table was nicely set apart from the others but was fairly cool next to the window."

"This was the second time I have dined at Select since it was bought by a new group of owners and I was blown away by every dish my son and I had the pleasure of tasting. The new chef has certainly put a stamp on the Edmonton dinning scene. I can't wait to go again which I am this week for a business lunch. I can't wait to see the lunch menu and find a new favorite lunch hot spot."

"Our server (sorry, have forgotten his name) was excellent with his service and patient with our group. He was very informative about the menu and happy to entertain and suggest substitutes for a particular dish. I haven't been here in several years since before the renovations and found that although my fave tomato soup missing, the food choices good (realizing of course the menu is about to change over) and covers just about any taste. My only issue is that the room is too openbright and I would like to see more of a wall effect between tables using plants? Helps to absorb sound and keep things a bit more private....more condusive to a "romantic" meal. Thank you."

"Saturday night date-nite for my wife and I. Met with a very warm welcome as soon as we came in the door. The ambiance is remenicent of some of the more established, independant restaurants you would expect to find in New York or Chicago, unique! Service was friendly and upbeat but not over the top or pushy. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was excellent (loved the mussels). Pace of the evening was perfect, the server was attentive but we didn't feel rushed in any way.
We wil be back!"

"This was my first time back since the re-opening under the Select banner. Safe to say I'll definitely be back, as the food was great and the restaurant was everything it needed to be for a nice "date night" dinner out for two.
