Bluefin is an upscale seafood bistro reminiscent of New Orleans with finer dining on the second floor and a hip indoor/outdoor bar on the first. Bluefin specializes in fish flown in from all over the world, as well as live Maine lobster, Alaskan crab legs and our crowd-pleasing bouillabaisse. The eclectic wine list has offerings from all over the world, with roughly thirty by the glass. Live musicians perform upbeat Jazz every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

"We had a terrific table with a view of the mountains. Don't order the mango daiquiri if you're expecting fun and fruity - it tasted like cold medicine. Our server's recommendations re: the food were spot-on and everything was delicious. He seemed to forget about us after he delivered the food, though. It took a lonnnng time to get out of there and we nearly didn't make it to our movie."

"Had another excellent meal at Bluefin, with personable, attentive service. Our entrees included: cashew crusted mahi mahi and scallops. Both were cooked just right. We sat downstairs in the bar area. A band was playing, so it's noisier, i.e., more energetic, than upstairs.
We have eaten here numerous times, including two weeks prior to this most recent visit. The food and service are consistently outstanding."

"I have been wanting to dine at Bluefin for years and finally made it a priority. I was spectacular! We had made reservations and were going to be seated upstairs in the formal dining room but the wait was a bit longer than anticipated. Coupled with the fact that we had arrived early, we decided to grab an open table in the bar downstairs. This was a wonderful turn of events as the bar had live music and great service. I had the pickled trout appetizer which was fantastic down to the coleslaw garnish. All three of us had fish entrees: the trout, mahi and the escolar special. All were absolutely delicious. The wine pairings suggested were perfect. Desert was equally delicious."

"Server was horrible, very unattentive, absolutely no personality. We waited 20 minutes between receiving drinks and the server coming back to our table to take order. And she did not offer appetizers or give us an opportunity to request an appetizer, she dashed off to quickly with the drink order. we had to ask about what specials were being offered. She never once asked how our meal was or checked on us, nor did she fill our waters. However, she did fill waters for surrounding tables. Also, she did not give us her name. The bussers/runners were very pleasant and as attentive as they should be. They did most of the work! I gave been to this restaurant many times before and had a much better experience."

"We were seated right by the kitchen door. Every employee who rushed past our table bumped into the back of the two outer chairs. It was very distressing to be constantly bumped into through out an otherwise wonderful dinner. We asked our server if she could do something to get them to stop; she tried but to no avail. The bumping was sharp enough that the employees had to know they were doing it. My recommendation: remove those two outer chairs; make it a two person table."

"I enjoyed having a special night out. The food presentation was lovely and out waiter was informative and bantered with us in a good hearted way. All in the party enjoyed their meal and continued to say we made a good choice to eat here. We ate upstairs passed on other reviews. No real view but the restaurant is tucked back from some retail stores so gives it a "hide away" feel. The house merlot was excellent."

"Being from a costal region, it is hard to find satisfying seafood in the desert. Bluefin was able to meet my expectations and then some. A nice jazz duet was playing when we arrived and we were still able to enjoy the ambient music from the upstairs dinning room. What was most surprising was how much smaller my bill was then expected. Overall, great seafood dinning experience, great indoor + outdoor settings, and reasonably priced."

"The food, as usual, was excellent. I have never had a dish that was anything less than wonderful at Bluefin. Their seafood is always cooked to perfection. "I read some reviews on this place before dining there myself and, while I don't doubt that some people may have had issues with the service, my experience was quite the opposite. The service was quick, witty, and very courteous.
The food was very well prepared. I had the oysters and sea scallops and my date had the clam chowder and crab legs. Both were flavorful and the seasonings both complimented one another and folded together in a certain harmony. Overall the food was worth coming back for.
The wine list, though relatively short, did not contain any wines I, myself, would not drink. I had the Whitehaven '07, which was a strong addition to the overall meal.
I highly recommend this venue, if you are looking for outstanding quality."

"I highly suggest this wonderful place. With exception of the calamari, everything was beautifully prepared. Calamari was too chewy, cold and kind of weird really. All others were done well."

"Our lunch was fabulous - good portions and priced right. I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and the host, David, greeted us with a "chef's selection" just for me. What a relief! My friend had fish and chips - she praised the light batter and great flavor. My grilled salmon, served over spinach was perfectly grilled and seasoned. Our server was well informed, attentive and was able to suggest a few nice wines. We dined at noon on a Monday and were one of only a few in the restaurant. I'd like to see more "buzz", but will definitely go back."

"Soup spoons for soup would be a great idea. Table spoons were ridiculous.
Lentil soup was under cooked.
Ceasar Salad was limp
Bouillabaisse was fantastic
Presentation was ordinary
Both chowders were tasty - again soup spoons

May have second thoughts about going when hosting out of town guests"

"Bluefin was an absolutely beautiful restaurant. Everyone in my party loved that you had to walk up a wooden spiral staircase to get to the dining room. They definitely excel when it comes to the ambiance! Service was also wonderful! Our server was knowledgable and made us feel very welcome. I started with some oysters on the half shell and they were amazing! I also enjoyed my entree of ahi tuna over a napa cabbage salad, yum! The only down fall was that 2 of my guests ordered the lobster roll as their entree and one guest got a lot of lobster in theirs while the other guest only got two pieces. All in all this was an enjoyable dining experience and would be a perfect location for a romantic dinner."

"Our New Yesr's Eve dinner was superb. They changed the sides for my husband and, for the first time in recent memory, he didn't leave any vegetables on his plate. My scallops were delicious, but the accompanying risotto tasted wonderfully decadent. The steamed mussels were served still steaming and were obviously checked so that NO bad mussels were found in the whole bowl! Our accompanying wine was delightful, the service was thoughtful (they even created an alternative when no wine chillers were available), and the decor appropriately festive. A WONDERFUL EVENING!"

"Bluefin is our favorite seafood place in Tucson. They always seem to their specialty just right. The pecan crusted mai-mai is one of our favorites, but all of heir seafood is wrth the stop. Not impressed with their salads as much and we rarely have dessert. The venue is warm and friendly and the people are professional in a friendly, engaging way."

"Blue Fin has been a favorite of ours since it opened. For the most part Blue Fin has been pretty consistent in both food and service.Entrees were very good,scallops were outstanding, the fish and chips satisfied my New England cravings, but a little too much celery in the Lobster Roll. Our server did a nice job but the timing in the kitchen seemed to be off. There were six of us and the restaurant was not that crowded when we arrived but it seemed to take an unusually long time to get our main course served. Our server must have noticed the delay and commented that the food was coming up "right up". It arrived about 15 minutes later. Sometimes these things happen. The bar is fun,and in nice weather the outdoor patio is a great place to dine"

"We love Bluefin as the seafood is always fresh and prepared well. Only negative on our last visit was that there was a little too much oil or butter used in preparation. I had the crusted MahiMahi with sweet potato chips and sauteed spinach. Fish was absolutely delicious; however there was a lot of excess oil/butter on the plate from all three items. That was my only complaint, and dining companion thoroughly enjoyed his fish & chips. Keep up the good work!"

"Very good service, capable and friendly. Pleasant dining room. The fish seemed fresh. The sauces were so-so, not bad, but not top notch in flavor. The bouillabaise which we had leftover was actually better the next day. There were some good and inexpensive wine choices."
