Cappy's Restaurant
This casual, upscale restaurant offers innovative American cuisine including the freshest seafood from the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific, great steaks from Allen Brothers in Chicago, and regional and seasonal specialties. Daily lunch and dinner specials feature local ingredients whenever possible. The Kobe beef burger can be paired with hand cut French fries, crispy thin onion rings, homemade lemon-pepper potato chip or potato salad. There is an outdoor patio under a canopy of oak trees that's shady and extremely popular with locals and visitors to San Antonio. The brunch offered on Sundays features a menu of classic egg dishes, fire-roasted prime rib, Texas pot roast, jumbo lump crab cake, and top entree salads, chicken and seafood dishes. Cappy's has an ever-changing, dynamic and well-priced wine list, with great choices by the glass or bottle. Full bar.

"I wanted to talk with one of my professors and ask on issues of academe and higher education. We dined outside and we able to have all the privacy we needed and great food. Both of us had salmon dishes which could not have been any better. The waiter provided all that privacy while still providing timely and professional service."

"Actually,our wonderful Mother's Day dinner at Cappy's started as soon as we walked in the door.We were warmly greeted by all staff in the nearby vicinity.Our fabulous server,James,was friendly yet VERY professional (super-impressed how he efficiently worked the full Mama's Day tables in his section).He easily answered all of our menu questions and expertly conveyed and delivered our special preparation requests (I'm a huge "on the side" and "please modify" gal!).As the title implies,our wonderful meal began with the yummy house made bread, followed by DELISH shrimp nachos and charbroiled oysters.My son devoured his grilled cheese,my husband swooned over his pot roast dinner special and I devoured the seafood platter.Toffee pudding is a MUST"

"Love our visits to Cappy's. It is our favorite and most reliable dining experience in San Antonio. Minutes from the house, but miles better than my kitchen. We choose Cappy's whenever we want a nice dinner with nearly 100% certainty of an excellent experience (food, service and environment). Highly recommend!"

"I have been a patron of Cappy's for years and the quality and presentation of the food has consistently been great! In fact it has been going upscale for some time now, starting years ago as a fun place to go that had good food and now being a place for fine dining. The menu, while not the most extensive in town, offers a good variety of fine dishes and simpler fare as well, all very well done...in a very pleasant atmosphere."

"I reserved a table for 6, but had to change on the spot when 7 decided to attend dinner. Cappy's immediately set up a very comfortable table for 7. Very professionally handled.
My wife and I have been going to Cappy's for many, many years. This occasion was my business retirement dinner. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent, as usual. Wait staff are great, very knowledgeable, very professional, and very helpful. They are always accommodating on requests out of the box.
Cappy's even substituted a much more expensive fish since the fish special had been sold out for the same price as the special!! Highly recommended!!"

"My fiancé and I were just visiting San Antonio for a couple of days and I saw the great reviews Cappy's got on TripAdvisor. The great reviews are well warranted. The food was spectacular-one of the best I've had. The service was great as well. I ordered a previously unknown to me fish entree and our waitress was able to answer the questions I had about it. The prices are in the mid to high range ($25+ for most entrees). But the food is well worth the price. I'm sure Cappy's would be a great restaurant for special occasions."

"We booked a late dinner - 9 pm and ordered appetizers and an entre; however, at about 9:50 pm the staff began to clear the adjacent table tops, fold napkins, noisily making ready to close the restaurant. By 10 pm it was clear that the waiter wanted to go home and rushed our meal. He cleared my guest's plate and silverware at least ten minutes before I was finished. We ended our meal without a dessert or coffee service since it was clear that the restaurant was closing and staff anxious to be done for the night. While the food was good and ambiance always warm, the service was anything but inviting. So beware - if you make a late night dining reservation, eat fast and hold the dessert and cofee!!"

"I was disappointed in the menu selections. Almost all of the entrees were fish. Very few beef entrees. The beef entree I selected was expensive ($35). It came with steak fries which had some sort of breading on them. I would have preferred plain fries. No bread was offered until we asked for it. I can get better food for less money elsewhere."

"We were very happy with our selection of Cappy's. The food and presentation were both excellent. Our server, Pat and the Restaurant manager were both very attentive and accommodating to our every need. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Cappy's to anyone looking for an indigenous destination to enjoy great service and fine food while visiting San Antonio."

"There is nothing trendy about Cappy's. The emphasis here is on what really matters. Cappy's is a comfortable and beautiful space with unfailingly good food and unusually thoughtful service. We have been coming here annually for a special event, and Cappy's always makes us happy. Though this is close to ranch country, the fish and salads are exceptionally good. I've lived on three continents and traveled on others, and Cappy's may be the restaurant I like best, anywhere."

"Perfect from start to finish. Our reservation had a table waiting and our waiter there within 90 seconds. Staff was courteous, knowledgable and exceptionally nice. Glasses were never empty. The food was superb. Possibly the best brunch we have ever had. The manager checked on every table and sent complimentary dessert when he heard it was our anniversary. We had truffled eggs and lobster, eggs (Benedict) Louie, and steak frites that melted in your mouth. We will go back again and again. Loved it"

"Awesome. One of the few places deciding on what to order is a pleasent ordeal - virtually every item on the menu is 'I want that!'.

"We dined on Valentine's Day for dinner, arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were told there'd be a few minutes' wait. The waiting area was already fairly full, but we were the next ones seated -- so good for them for seating people with reservations first.
The meal was very good, as good as I could expect for this price ($125 at the bottom line including tip and tax for 2 entrees, 4 glasses of wine and dessert). Our server was attentive, well versed on the menu, and offered good suggestions.
The building itself is interesting. It was a little noisy with a full house, but not so much so that we had to raise our voices to hear each other.
We'll be back!"

"My wife and I had valentine's dinner at Cappy's. I had the bass plate. Really good.My wife had the bass and shrimp with oysters and she was very impressed. Cappy's is a perfect place for brunch or a romantic dinner. I have been going to Cappy's regularly since the '90's and have never had a bad experience.

"My wife and I visited Cappy's for a special occasion with reservations. We were early so had a couple of drinks at the bar and an hour upon arriving we were sitted. To their credit it was a very busy night and they handled us very well after being sitted. This is a great place to eat and drink, while being taken care of from start to finish. I will visit Cappy's again soon! Great job guys."

"Cappy's is the type of restaurant you wish was close to your home. Marie had the paella and I had the fish -- both featured on the daily menu. Two of the items were as good as we have had, and another was actually better. Of note, we have 9 years living in Spain, Germany (twice) and Austria (Vienna) -- and traveling extensively; 3 years in Seattle and 6 in the Washington, D.C. area -- we know great food and this place has it. The fish was outstanding, broiled and sitting all proud on top of mashed potatoes. Marie's warm spinach salad was very good as well. The game breaker was the plum apple 'crisp'. It could compete well anywhere. The service was very good as they are well staffed and friendly. Go, you will enjoy!"

"I have been to Cappy's several times for lunch but this was my first time for brunch. We got there early (11) before the rush and it was perfect timing. But everything was great (menu choices/drinks). I'd definitely go back for brunch or lunch and recommend it all the same. =)"
