"I brought my friend here for her birthday and we were so pleased! First off, every employee recognized her birthday, offered sake shots, etc. our hibachi chef was very fun and kept us so involved in the whole process. The food was fresh and tasty. When the bill came they had comped her dinner for her birthday, Would definitely return!"

"Have been here twice in the past two weeks and only dined in the traditional restaurant, the Hibachi side sounded like a hoot Excellent and artistic sushi prompt and courteous service"

"Restaurant week- three course lunch. I got yellowtail on fire as appetizer, amazing. However, the rest of the meal was very disappointing. The Hibachi Fillet Mignon was served with fried rice and some stir fried vegetables. The beef was cut into around square inch pieces. It was OK, nothing special about it. The fried rice was very oily. The vegetable was, I guess, eatable. I can definitely cook better at home myself. I tried ice cream tempura, recommended by the waitress. It was terrible. The dough was extremely thick and under cook, and the ice cream inside was mango. Personally, the whole thing just simply doesn't go together. Chocolate sauce was the only good thing about the desert. VERY DISAPPOINTED. low quality. not worth $20 +tip"

"Tempura was ok but too many potatoes and not enough real veggies. Good selection of sushi but chef's special sauce was too sweet for me. Sake was good but could have been hotter. Beautiful ceramic serving pieces."

"Ignoring the 9-year-old birthday going on at the table over, Osaka had a nice ambiance. Food was stellar - I prefer the hibachi over the sushi & sashimi, but they were both outstanding."

"Osaka has a surprising club/bar scene and restaurant crowd, while in a great overall neighborhood it is tucked slightly off the main road so others evidently have heard of this just off the street gem and flock here to get the specialties. I had a small wait for a table for the Hibachi Grills, I suppose that ought to be expected for a Friday night too. I ended up downstairs in the bar with a Sapporo. Good chatty bartender and club style music. Once Hibachi table was open a quick order of succulent Steak and Shrimp, and my vegetarian friend goign for the veggie combo, we got a talented chef of 7 years working the tables showing us all the tricks he knew. Lots of flaming fire. Good for a show and good eats at reasonable cost."

"we had the worse dining experience at this restaurant that we have had in a long time. We had our 2 kids. We were led to a room int he basement - a very dark dungeon of a room. The "chef" was extremely loud and catered to a young college crowd with lewd jokes and inappropriate antics. The food was not great. The loudness and crassness of hte chef made our 2 kids cry, who left the room and refused to come back in. We were able to carry our own plates to a separate room (bar area) so we could actually eat something. One waitress tried to help us some. But apparently there was only one server for the whole of the downstairs. So the service was AWFUL. No manager ever came to see what could be done to help etc."

"We got seated in the basement area. It was def not all the same decor they have upstaris. Let me be more specific, all you saw were brown walls. No paintings no decor no nothing. That was disappointing as I've eaten upstairs and it is very nice. The only thing that made my experience better were two bartenders at the downstairs bar. Brian and another guy (the only Korean bartender, sorry I forgot your name) joked with us. They saved my experience. I would still recommend this place. Thanks guys."

"Pricey but food good. Some menu items are lower so lots of choice if any on budget. Nice to go for your birthday as you get a free entree. I like the decor & lighting."

"The food was good and presented well, but the service was incredibly rushed and disjointed. The entrees came while we were eating the appetizer - crowding the table. 3 people at our table placed separate sushi orders and, rather than plating them separately, it was served on a boat. The boat wasn't arranged according to how we were seated - so my order was diagonally across the table from my seat (so I had to reach across my friend's plate to get to my sushi). We were finishing our meal and drinks when the bill came. We were there to catch up with old friends and instead felt like we had to rush through each course and finally paid, gulped down the rest of our drinks, and left. If we return, we'll sit at the hibachi."

"I have come here twice now, and it is a place we make sure to bring guests who are in Boston to see us! If you have a group, make sure to get seated at the hibachi table! The chefs are high energy and make sure everyone has a great time. They will squirt sake in your mouth, throw food, and put on a great show (only of course, to the level that people are comfortable). Above all though, the food is delicious!!! I could live on their fried rice. There also is a bar downstairs that plays music and has another "bar bites" menu, so save some room for another round after dinner! The menu is very extensive, and the staff is very accommodating. We will continue to come back here as long as we live in Boston."

"I'VE BEEN GOING TO OSAKA FROM THE DAY THEY OPENED. I LOVE THE LOCATION... THIS PAST VISIT REALLY LET ME DOWN... THE WIAT STAFF TRYS TO RUSH YOU OUT AFTER DINNER. THE ROOM IS FREEZING AND I ORDERED FILET AND CHICKEN AND IT WAS THE SMALLEST PORTION FOR $25.99. THAT IS $$$$$ FOR SUCH A LITTLE STEAK AND CHICKEN.. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!"

"My wife and I had a terrific meal here on Valentine's Day. We've gone here several times now, as we were more than excited to have a hibachi option on this side of the river. This time we just sat down for sushi. We sampled an appetizer and a series maki rolls, ranging from the extravagant Green Phoenix (highly recommended) to the modest avacado roll. The avacado on this night was simply mouth watering. Our server Daisy, was highly attentive, and did everything she could to not make us feel rushed through our meal, even as a crowd grew around the host stand. Everything, save a mushy spicy hamachi roll, was great, and after several tries here I can safely say Osaka is my new go to place for sushi blow-outs."

"My boyfriend and I went to Osaka for Valentine's Day and we were pretty underwhelmed by the whole experience. We made a reservation, but they clearly overbook, so we had to wait for almost an hour. I understand that this happens here and there, but it was happening to pretty much every party that was there that night. And our server clearly had too many tables to keep track of, because it took a very long time to even put our order in. Again, I understand that restaurants get busy (especially on Valentine's Day evening), but they should have handled it a lot better."

"The onion soup was delicious - best I've ever had - however the rest of the food was a little bland and could have used more seasoning. The salad dressing was especially disappointing. The portions were large, and the prices very reasonable."

"We love this place. Food is awesome and the chefs are great. My only issue this time was it was way too loud I couldn't even have a conversation without screaming. We sat in the back room. People were having fun but this time it was just way too loud. Otherwise this place is great."

"Lives it the first 2x there. This time food was burned, cold and sushi was small and my yellowtail and scallion needed a magnifying glass to see the scallion. Gave all the sushi back. Never going again"

"I have been to Osaka at least five times and have always had a great experience at the hibachi table. However, last night (Saturday 1/26/2013) I made a reservation on Open Table and when I got to the restaurant I was told my reservation was NOT for hibachi. The male host pointed at the reservation computer which showed my name with an "A" which he said was for a regular table instead of the "H" others had for hibachi. I understood there must have been a mistake in the reservation, but asked how I could make a reservation for hibachi next time. The host was VERY rude and told me it was done on Open Table. I reviewed the reservation process online today and confirmed there was no options for hibachi."

"Fairmont Copley Plaza Concierge - This is one of the best restauranats in the city/suburbs of Boston. From the staff to the amazing food, Osaka (originally from Northampton) is outstanding.
Have been there every 10-12 Days for the past 6 months."
