Entertain family, friends or business associates in our private banquet room, which can accommodate groups of 20, up to 200 people. Custom menu selections can be created to suit any occasion. The banquet room features a fully complimented bar, wood dance floor, and wood-burning fireplace.
Located along the North Branch of the Chicago River on Erie Street, The Erie Café serves prime aged steaks, chops and house specialties in a classic club-like environment.
"Needed reservations for four (4) last minute on a Thursday night. Called over to Erie Cafe and they were more than happy to take us in. This place is one of my 'goto' joints in the city. It's not a super busy place as not a lot of people know about it. But I like that because I can bop by pretty much any night of the week and get fantastic eats.
Portions are huge so sharing with your Wife, Girlfriend, SO, Date is an always an option.
The Prime Rib on Saturday is fantastic, but it does sell out, so get there early!!
Two-Thumbs Up!!"

"Consummate steakhouse. Pleasant patio on the Chicago River in season. Knowledgeable staff, no-frills presentation, excellent food. Large & small private rooms available. Never underestimate value of free valet parking in River North."

"Took my daughter here for a welcome home from college dinner. We had a great meal with good service and then watched the Bulls game at the bar with some of the other patrons. Great place to go!"

"8 of us dined and 4 of us had overcooked steak, lamb chops and chopped steak. the staff was appologetic. The bone in rib eye was exchanged for a prime rib rare. We did not have the lamb chops and the hamburger sent back because it was too disruptive to the evening of visiting. i would not recommend this restaurant/"

"I've been to Erie Cafe several times and to be quite honest, this visit will make me not want to come back again. I think it is really overpriced basic food. Had a petite filet that I asked to be medium well and it was absolutely charred. Our potatoes were overdone and dry. We had a group of 6 adults and no one really thought the food was that good for what we paid. Very expensive for the quality of food. Overall, disappointing."

"It was my 3rd time in Chicago and first time at Eire. I got the recommendation from a former resident of Chicago. We were a group of seven people from Denmark and I can only say we were very positively surprised. The food were excellent and accompanied with excellent wine thanks to a wine list which gave tribute to excellent wines from California. The ambiance in the restaurant was very nice and the interior made you feel back in the Chicago forties( although i am to young to remember :-). The combination of great food, great wine, interior style and great service from the waiter ( cant remember his name but he was from Mexico) made our evening at Eire´s Cafe an unforgettable evening which we will take with us back to Europe and recommend"

"Absolutely one of the best steak houses in the city. I've been here several times, from lunch on the patio overlooking the river to high end corporate dinners, and it never disappoints. I'll take a place with some history and character like this or Gene & Georgetti's over Morton's or Gibson's without hesitation."

"Erie Cafe is one of my favorite go to's. Not a lot of people know about this Gem. Food is Great, Service is Great, Their outdoor dining patio is fantastic during the summer months.
The portions are large, so splitting of Entree's is always an option if you're looking to keep the bill down to a minimum.

"Everything we expect in a restaurant. The steaks (filet Mignon) were tender, flavorful and cooked just right. The service was attentive and respectful (One of the support staff was at our table re-filling our glasses on a quite regular basis (we had walked miles throughout the day)). I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a healthy dose of "comfort" food, served in a relaxed and club-like setting."

"Went hoping to get their Prime Rib but it is weekend only. No worries, the Ribeye was outstanding. Calamari a different and tasty appetizer. Needs to be shared by 3-4 diners or you will be full by the time entree arrives."

"Made reservations on Open Table a few hours before, and when we got there, we had to wait in the front for over 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge our party. We were then told that they were running 15-20 minutes behind and we could have a seat at the bar. An hour later, we were seated, then had to wait an additional 20 minutes before our order was taken. The food is great, the wine was great, the service that night was terrible.
No apologies were offered to us."

"If you like large hunks of red meat done just right this is for you. A real guy place, that women enjoy as well. This was at least the 6 th or 7th dinner here, usually with a group of 4 or more. As usual, food was terrific, good wine listwith some reasonably price bottles. Attentive service. An pld favorite and will be back again."

"This place has slipped over the past couple of years, service wasn't very good, food was OK, but the prices have been significantly increased, also it was very empty. We have been going there for years, but most likely going elsewhere in the future"

"The server was so rude. He kept bumping into us while seated and had no sense of space. The food was ridiculously overpriced for the atmosphere. There are much better beautiful steak places in chicago. Can't believe this still exists. My husband ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done. When he complained about it, the waiter was rude and argued with him until he eventually took it back. Shocked this place is around. Never again"

"Very attentive service. Our waiter was wonderful. Good wine list. We were there on Friday night and prime rib was their special. It was very good. It was HUGE. You could definitely share. My wife had the mussels marinara. The mussels were huge and delicious. Large portion abound. If you're looking for a place off the beaten path and away from tourists (like us)this is a great place to try. A short walk from Michigan Avenue."
