Acclaimed Chef Ford Fry serves up Southern farmstead cooking based on seasonal ingredients at JCT. Kitchen & Bar, his restaurant in Atlanta’s Westside Urban Market. JCT. "I really enjoyed what would seem to be an ordinary type of fish such as the flounder I had and the salmon my friend had and have JCT turn it into a creative sensation for the pallet. The combination of ingredients was somewhat unusual but as they say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I can't wait to return for another go at it! Our server was also wonderful. The desserts were just okay. Try to get a chair that doesn't have a lip on the front of it because it can poke you where you won't like it after a while. Very convenient parking too. Don't forget to stop by Star Provisions on your way in to pick up a great vintage porto too."

"It was great. Crowded. The lamb shank special was delicious. Good wine. Sunday supper salad was inconsistent. I got a ton of frisee and barely any crunchy veggies. Frank got a ton of corn and no frisee. The deserts were ok. The fried pie was all crust with no filling so it was like a doughnut. The Toffee cake was good. All in all it was a good experience, just a little inconsistent."

"Love this place, great food, creative menu and a nice looking restaurant. I've been here twice for lunch and once for dinner over the past year and it's been good every time. Very consistent food but service could have been friendlier. The truffle-parm fries are good. My southern friend loves the vegetables and I liked the goat cheese pasta. JCT is always on top of my list of places to go and to recommend."

"I went for a business lunch and ordered the salmon sandwich which was WONDERFUL. I asked to have the french fries replaced with the farm stand salad to make it lighter/healthier. It was a terrific combination. Their fries are good but given how much they push the use of fresh ingredients I thought that should have been an option highlighted on the menu. Again, it was very good."

"This restaurant is better during the summer months when you can eat outside. It is VERY loud inside, to the point where you can't hear the person you're with. It's annoying spending an hour or two trying to read lips. It's also pretty cold with people constantly opening the back doors. All and all, not my favorite place. Better in the summer."

"The restaurant was running around an hour behind, so we weren't seated for our 8:30 reservation until almost 9:30. Other than the wait everything was good, but we won't return unless word of mouth tells us others aren't having the same issue.

"We dined on a Sunday, when the restaurant has a special menu: choice of a meat entrée (out of a selection of 5) and 3 sides for $24, a pretty good deal. Our entrees, pork and veal meatloaf, were good but the sides, including delicious fresh salads, were the highlights—thoroughly enjoyable. Despite a room that filled up rapidly, service was friendly and efficient. We look forward to returning on a night other than Sunday so we can try the regular menu."

"Wonderful! I was saddened they were out of fried-chicken already, but this gave me the opportunity to try the bacon wrapped trout that I had been anxious to try. The bacon had an unbelievable smoky flavor and the trout was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the sweet potato gratin but it was no where near as good as the amazing mac & cheese!"

"I really love this restaurant. This was my second visit, first for dinner. The deviled eggs are fabulous- the XVOO they drizzle on top is so delicious. My husband was devouring his short rib with garlic green beans and a sweet potato-Gouda gratin- he kept saying "the sauce just melts in your mouth like butter". My salad special with duck and goat cheese was one of the best I've ever had. I did not love the foie gras and chicken liver mousse, which ironically was the one thing I was most excited to try. Don't get me wrong, I could appreciate it, I ate it all, but I would not order it again. Our server Eduardo was great- informative and professional and at the same time casual and friendly."

"Food was really good. Just like a previous reviewer, interesting enough but not to "weird". Only real complaints were the seating (just awkward, chairs and booth style seats). And it was really, really loud. Like airplane hangar loud. Good for a group but not on a date (I was on a first date and couldnt hear.) But if you are looking for really good food and decent service, this place was good. I heard the rooftop bar is awesome and if they did something about the sound (seating aside) this place would be amazing."

"There were five people in our party and everyone enjoyed their food. No one left dissatisfied. The fried green tomatoes, fried onion rings, and deviled eggs were awesome. The only complaint was the spring water. It is brought to the table in a supersize bottle, which leaves the customer with no option to take with them what is left after they have paid several dollars for the water. Very low score for that considering how expensive it is for water. The water should be brought out in a container that the customer can take with them. I'll never purchase the water again."

"Appetizers were a fantastic start to the meal. Mac & Cheese was heavenly with the chicken. We got the last two fried chicken plates available that night and were very glad we did. All in all a great experience, I will be going back.

The layout and noise level of the dining room was a little different than I am used to but I quickly got accustomed to it. Drinks were on the expensive side but hey, it's a nice spot on the westside so that was expected. Service was good, it was little difficult to understand our server when explaining the specials due to noise + his accent. He definitely took care of us well though! Reservation was handled well, we sat right about when we should have. No complaints."

"Food was excellent. Only drawback to our experience is that we saw them serve are food to another table. The patrons at that table made the server aware it wasn't their food. The server took the food back into the kitchen and then brought it to our table awhile later. No one ever came to explain why the food was taking longer and we were sort of left wondering if the food the other patron had picked around at was the same as served to us. Overall though very pleased."

"Food was great! I didn't expect certain pairings in their dishes to work together, but I was very wrong. The pork was fork tender; it wasn't over-spiced but kept the natural flavor. The beef tenderloin was wonderful. I've also hear rave reviews of their muscles but due to the Valentines Day menu, we did not get to try them. Service was simple; attentive, but not interactive. I would definitely eat here again."

"JCT was recommended by a friend. I met another friend there for lunch. We had an 1130am reservation (opening time) so there really weren't too many folks there yet. Within a few minutes, they seated a group of six next to us. There were plenty of other seats/tables, but they sat them next to us. Hmmm. Service was fine. I had the fish and chips. The fish was fried perfectly, but it was totally tasteless. The accompanying dipping sauce was spicy and pinkish - not sure what it was. It didn't really go with the fish and they didn't serve any lemon. The "chips" were french fries. They were good, but needed salt. I ate about 1/3 of them - way too many served. The price was fair. My friend had the fried chicken and he enjoyed it."

"Went for the Valentine's fixed-price dinner. The food selections were wonderful and the execution was even better than expected. The staff was friendly, happy, and expedient. "I think our hostess that seated us could have been a little more friendly. Although she accommodated our wishes for a different table, we all felt like she was annoyed with us. We just wanted a table that was not beside a traffic area and the serving table, and since we had early reservations, there were plenty of tables. We had a good server and loved the food."

"We had a great time at JCT Kitchen except for the small fact that we were sat nearly an HOUR after our reservation time! What a disappointment especially since our reservation was not until 9:15. We did not get to our table until 10:25. This was a true letdown, and i'm not sure whether we will return our not. The food was good and our server was great! But, dont take a reservation if you cannot seat someone in a reasonble timely manner."

"This was my first time to JCT Kitchen, as recommended by multiple friends for both the bar scene, restaurant scene and the food. On a Saturday night, the whole upstairs bar area was closed for a party, very disappointing for a weekend night. The restaurant is very loud, almost to the level of a bar, and the crowd is very young, and this is coming from a 31 year old. But to sum up my food experience, everything was delicious, all four people in my party enjoyed all plates, appetizers, main courses and desserts. It's always a pleasure to see Southern Food gussied up. However, service was awful, bar service as we waited for our table, and table service. This fact is unfortunate, because I would have frequented this place for the food."

"Food was very good - Southern with flair. Although the fried chicken was raved about by the staff - it wasn't the "best I had ever had" by any means, but it was quite tasty. The special fish dish was enjoyed by my friend and I must say the Beet Salad was enough to leave me content before my entree even arrived - OK, I might still have needed the doughnuts, which I would say are a "must have". We also had the chocolate dessert which was fabulous. The service was wonderful - friendly, helpful, attentive, but not hovering. It was very loud, but not enough for me to say "too loud". Bon Appetit!!"

"The food was absolutely delicious. Just wonderful. I would offer two suggestions: Make sure hot beverages (coffee and water for tea) are brought to the table hot and remain so. Ours was not, so I asked for hot coffee. Our waitress brought it, and it was, indeed, hot, but she never checked nor asked about it again. By the second cup, it was too cool for me to enjoy. Secondly, we sat at the far end of the restaurant where the stretch of banquet seating is. My friend's seat was so low that I, on the chair opposite her, towered above her. She finally got up and fetched a pillow which she chose to put at her back so she could reach the table. Were I she, I'd have sat on it! Overall, though, most enjoyable experience."

"Sunday night supper is fantastic. A southerner's delight. Hot biscuits served with honey and apple butter melt in your mouth. A delicious four course meal starting with deviled eggs and farm fresh salad. Then choose your meat course. You can't go wrong with the fried chicken drizzled with honey or fried catfish. JCT Kitchen has their frying down to an art, perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Choose three vegetable sides for the table. All for $24! Hard to beat. Dinner from the regular menu on other evenings is equally delicious, just happened to be filling this out after a great date night for Sunday supper."

"The food was fine, however, the service was like that of a diner... This was our first time at JTC and the waitress seemed to want to rush us with our order. "This restaurant can't figure out if it wants to be a bar or a nice dining experience. The LOUDNESS and choice of music suggest that JCT is a bar, but the menu choices are a better fit for an upscale restaurant. The DIM lighting screams BAR. (One diner at our table actually pulled out his cell phone to read the menu while others at our table and around us were lifting their menus to get a source of light to read!) The use of long flimsy drapes to create "rooms" that were hung no doubt to soften noise and minimize the warehouse feeling of the place create chaotic traffic patterns for the servers. Everything about JCT is frantic. The food was good, but certainly not worth enduring such a frenzied atmosphere. Instead, eat at the bar upstairs."

"I heard lots of hype about the food from friends and the press. We were disappointed. Out of 4 dishes one was excellent (flounder over sauted napa cabbage), one was good (cracker jack salad) and two lacked flavor (duck confit app and braised lamb shank). I added salt, which is something I almost never do. I will return and not order any long-cooked dishes, which is my recommendation to others."

"Went on a Saturday night dinner date. Was rather loud for a date - a lot of people shouting over each other and the music playing. A better atmosphere for big groups then taking a date. "We just love JCT kitchen. We live just down the road and are so fortunate to have such a wonderful restaurant right in our neighborhood. A group of 8 of us went for dinner on Saturday. Everything everyone had was delicious. The Angry Mussels have to be the best in the city - I could just drink the broth. The braised short rib on the scalloped poatoes was what everyone had food envy over, and as always - the donought holes are a must regardless of how full you are."

"We had lived in Atlanta for three years and JCT was our favorite restuarant. After having moved out of state, we make it a point to eat there anytime we're in town. NYE was no exception. I had made the reservations a few weeks in advance and didn't notice that it was a prix fixe menu. We were dissappointed in the food for the first time EVER. I have ALWAYS loved the food at JCT, having tried several different regular menu items and specials in the past, but this was uninspired. We did go upstairs to the bar and were again delighted at the live music and cityscape...even though it was a little foggy. Of course, we will visit again soon. I wouldn't write this place off that quickly."

"we were seated at the table next to the kitchen. the upholstered sofa seating is so low i felt like a three year old! we were moved to another table but reluctantly by our waiter. there were 5 of us and the one hanger steak order for medium was purple rare and had to be sent back. it was very,very noisy and we had trouble hearing each other. the duck was great but the duck meatballs were weird; way too much of whatever spice was in there and totally overwhelmed the tiny, little meatball. great bread."

"I like JCT kitchen's food. They are not customer friendly though. I like the JCT Salad with Fried chicken on the lunch menu, they will not serve this at night. They offer the salad and they offer the chicken but will not put them together. I like to think a restaurant values their customers, I don't get that here. The noise level is unbearable,I have been many times but never at 7:30 when the place was full. I will never go back at that time- you can't hear anything, just a dull roar from conversations in a small room, with low ceilings and no acoustics. "Four of us had an early dinner, so the restaurant was very quiet. The food was very very good. Some of the dishes did not quite meet expectations, some far exceeded them.
