Big Papi's Grille is an upscale casual restaurant designed to appeal to a wide audience, with featured menu items including natural steaks, gourmet burgers, entree salads, and much more. BPG has several dining options, including table 34; a semi-private 20 seat dining area preferred by Big Papi and his family and friends. We also have a private dining room for 60 people and patio dining with "loungy-comfy" furniture. Of course, don't miss all the Red Sox/Patriots/Bruins/Celtics action on our many HD TV's.

"We enjoyed our meal. Some members of our party had fillets that were very enjoyable. One member had swordfish that had a very interesting flavor. We all loved the chopped salad and the sweet potato fries. The server was very attentive. We will definitely dine there again."

"Simply poor food. The quality of the steak was poor and the preparation was not as ordered (medium+ delivered for medium rare). Sides were unimaginative and poorly executed (greasy fries, undercooked asparagus). Hope Papi keeps hitting, 'cuz restaurants aren't for him."

"The wait staff were exceptionally good. We were seated right away, made a special request and they accommodated us (we did have reservations). The food was outstanding. I had the twin filet mignon while others had filet mignon - all were cooked as requested to perfection. The steak melted in your mouth and was very tasty. It is a bit pricey but well worth it."

"Our dining experience was ok. I'm not sure that we would go back though. We arrived a few minutes early and sat at the bar, which was nice, the drinks were good, but expensive. We were then seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant,(I had requested a booth when I placed my reservation),so after waiting a few more minutes, we were moved to a booth in the bar area, which we were comfortable at, however the bar area was extremely loud, but once the crowd thinned out, was more tolerable. Overall the food was good and service ok."

"I'm not hugely impressed with Big Papi's Grille. I live 5 minutes away so I've gone a few times. Usually the food is just average. They have great martinis, but the food itself is mediocre. I think the appeal of this restaurant is that it's a novelty. At this point I will only order a burger or something similarly easy. It's not worth the high prices for a steak or expensive entree. One time I did spot Big Papi in the restaurant with Kate Hudson and A-Rod! But not this trip. However, our waitress was very good. We were there with a party of 7, two of which were children under the age of 6. She was very accommodating, especially when my mother spilled a large glass of water. The waitress immediately and graciously cleaned it up."

"This was my 2nd time at Big Papi's. I ordered the Big Papi Cosmo at $9.50 and wasn't impressed. It tasted like koolaid. I had the salmon spinach salad and did not like the dressing. It was too sweet and the spinach was smoothered in it. My friends had a burger and fish tacos and enjoyed it."

"We recently visited Big Papi's Grille for a special evening. Even though we arrived later that our reserved time (limo problem), we were seated within 5-10 minutes. Our waitress was very frie ndly and even took a picture of the group. Our appetizers arrived in a reasonanble amount of time and were very tasty. The atmosphere was very romatnic and casual. It was perfect for the occasion. The ony downside if there as any was it took quite a bit of time to serve the entrees, other than that we were pleased and would definetely visit again!"

"Great spot. We meet up with family and the 8 of us had a wonderful meal together. The children loved the atmosphere and found it special to be sitting at table #34. "We weren't sure what to expect since usually a celebrity name doesn't come with a celebrity chef and good food. We were pleasantly surprised when we had dinner last Saturday night. Our reservations were at 7:30pm and we were seated promplty. The prices were similar to the previous steak house that was there (Met 9) but the entrees were not ala carte, thus resulting in a lower cost per person (~$35 pp). The tuna tartare appetizer was terrific and the fish was very fresh. The petite filet mignon was so tender you didn't need a knife and the chocolate cake was perfect. All in all, we had a great time and look forward to the next visit."

"We've tried Big Papi's several times since it transitioned from the old Metro 9. Each time it seems to be finding more of an identity of its own,which is a good thing because at first it seemed like the best part of Metro 9 was lost and replaced by....well, not much of anything but a few baseball lithos in the bar. This meal was well prepared, in fact the lamb chops were absolutely excellent and the sides of Dominican rice and asparagus were perfect. Cocktails are first rate, and a glass of wine ordered with the entree was both delicious and a decent value (for a change. Unfortunately the server was an amateur and showed only bare minimal interest in his job until our beautiful 25 yr old daughter showed up. Then at last some service!"

"We visited on Feb 13th, one of the few restaurants with an opening at 7:30. Not an ideal romantic restaurant for Valentines weekend but we were pleased nonetheless. The food was very good quality and the diverse menu allow you to try something a bit out of the ordinary. The Calamari was the best we have had (and we have had many variations) although it would have been nice with a few banana peppers tossed in. The Filet and Kobe meat loaf were both very good and the side dishes complemented the entrees. It should also be noted that the wines were very reasonably priced. Overall, a very good experience relaxed atmosphere and diverse crowd. Not a grand slam but a rare triple that is nice to find."

"Casual dining. Good hamburgers and steaks. Fun place to see Red Sox memorabilia. The walls are decorated with Big Papi and Sox pictures. TVs are easy to see in the bar area with big comfortable booths. Dining room area is nice. The decor is simple and pleasant. We prefer the bar area. The staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a casual dining experience where you can wear your jeans, this is the place. It is nicer than the "99" and Applebee's. We will go again."

"We went for valentine's day and enjoyed the food very much. I started with a caesar salad and my husband had a salad with apples and walnuts, both of which were wonderful. I had the salmon and my husand had a steak for our entrees. We also ordered a dessert but felt it was a little skimpy. That was the only bad thing. Everything else was wonderful and we would recommend this restaurant highly. We will be back."

"Overall, the dining experience was exquisite. My best friend and I had made reservations online and showed up an hour earlier to enjoy some time at the bar. The bar staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We found it to be a relaxing, perfect place to get out to, on a Saturday night. Ladies, your man cannot say no to taking you out there b/c there are plenty of TV's with non-stop sports to watch. Besides, it is Big Papi's Grille! When we were seated prompt to our reservations, we experienced excellent service by the wait staff. Our food and drinks arrived with perfect timing and the drinks were mixed perfectly. I have to say it was impeccable service and the enviorment was enjoyable. Recommend to everyone!"

"The food and service was very good. But not over the top. I think it is the menu that stood out. Offering a wide range of options from casual fare to an excellent choice of steaks. The baseball theme is not in your face, but rather subtle. I even took a some hard core Yankees fan there and they didn't seem to mind. If you prefer a more casual experience reserve a booth in the bar and you can watch sports on several wide screen TV's. They have struck a perfect balance between and formal and casual dining experience."

"I had read some reviews for the restaurant that said the food wasn't good, but I'd also heard from people that the food was good, so I was intrugued to see for myself how the food was. I dined with three other people and everyone loved their food! It was very different and original. The service was very good too. "Overall I was very pleased with being there. My server was a delight. She frequently checked with us to make sure that we had everything we needed and that we were pleased with our orders. Even though it was a little busy, when she stopped at our table she made us feel like we were the center of her attention. One of my pet peeves about a restaurant is when you have to search for your server for drink refills or for questions. Our server seemed to stop by just in time through out our experience. The food was very well prepared,seasoned, and presented professionally. I will be speanding many evenings at Big Poppi's in 2010."

"Everything was great. While I forget her name, our server was fantastic, informative, and very responsive. My son enjoyed a stroll around to view the photos and artwork and I had fun helping him identify who was who in the photos. I had the All American burger and was twice reminded of how it would look as I ordered it well done. Again, the server was at the top of her game!! Seeing the outdoor patio on a day when the wind chill was 5 made me pine for the upcoming summer so I can take my wife there and sit outside."

"We went to Big Papi's for New Year's Eve. At the suggestion of the server, I went with the Lobster Special for $43.00. The food was very good, however, for $43.00, it was a very small chicken lobster. For that amount of money, the lobster should have been bigger."

"Went with GF Sat night Our waitress was pleasant and attentive but not overly. Only thing was initially we did not get our bread until after we ordered cocktails. We ordered a recommended bottle of wine and they brought a different year, I tried it and it was not very good so I sent it back. No problem with that. We ordered mussels which were excellent. I ordered a wedge salad and while good it could have used more dressing and thicker and more bacon. My girlfriend ordered a Filet Milgnon and it was average at best. I would have sent it back if I ordered it. I got Rack of Lamb which was overcooked and not too tasty Brownie Sundae was awesome. Overall like the RedSox this year the meal left a lot to be desired."

"Server (Tina) was very friendly and helpful. Did not enjoy sitting near front door but the decor was great for the children. The calimari and shrimp appetizers were excellent. Adults had chicken and red snapper dishes which were both good. Kids couldn't finish the burgers from main menu so would stay w/ the kids' menu. Had hot stuff added to the fish dish ("single" level) which was OK. Sampled the "home run" version which was the equivalent of liquid fire. Overall, good experience and would return provided desired seating location, etc."

"Our food was prepared well, but slightly over-priced. I had the salmon ($19), and it was good, but not at $19. For Framingham and the service, this was a $15 dish. My husband ordered the Spicy Burger. He said it was decent, but the spices over-powered the actual burger flavor. The service was just OK. Our server was friendly, but often a bit too friendly-she interjected stories, while my husband was in the middle of talking to our party. The food runners passed our meals from the far end of the table, rather than bringing it to our side. We waited 20+ minutes between courses, had to hunt down the final bill, and had to make multiple requests for drinks. This would be fine at a Chili's, but not with white table linens and a $150 bill."

"My husband and I went to Big Papi's for the first time with several of our friends. The food was excellent, hot and delicious and the beer was cold!!! Our waitress was excellent, very attentive and quite pleasant.

"This was our firt visit and we were very pleased. The food was very good. Steaks cooked just as I ordered it. Salad was excellent and more than plenty. We only had one complaint in out group of four, that the coffee was cold. Wait staff was prompt in gettig us new coffee. Our waitress was exceptional and allowed us to have a great visit with our friends and never felt rushed. We will return."

"We were there for son's birthday dinner (age 16) and wanted to try the place out (and the baseball aspect). The portions were large and extremely delicious. the staff was excellent even when it got very busy. We were not rushed out when it got busy as we were lingering after our meal and desert (free to birthday people).You can stay with traditional food or try the different taste and versions of american steak and potato eating. We will be returning again."

"I was disappointed that the steak was cooked on (what I assume was) a gas grill with no hint of a wood smoked flavor. The atmosphere was nice. We were a little unlucky in that we got a waitress who just wasn't very good, though she was nice and tried hard and that is the most important thing. It was just hard to get things taken care of. She brought me a dry baked potato, and I was almost done with my steak before the fixings finally arrived. Because the wood smoked flavor is important to me, I will not go back."

"all 4 of us enjoyed our dinners very much. The filet mignon was delicious and cooked exactly to order. The ahi tuna was delicious and plentiful, but beware of the spiciness. The rack of lamb was good, but a much smaller portion. The restauarant was great with food allergies and making appropriate substitutions. When making a reservation, be specific whether you want to sit in the noisier bar area, or the quieter dining room. We asked for a booth and they first tried to put us in the bar in a booth. They do have booths in the dining room as well. The sports memorabilia on the walls is fun to peruse. Service was great.
We were surprised at how good everything was as many of the reviews we read were not glowing."

"I went there for a first date where having a conversation is an important thing. The restaurant was full but the noise level was not that bad. They space out the tables enough so that this works. The portions are not too big and not too small so you can finish them there without feeling stuffed. I had the salmon. It was fresh and excellent. My date had the vegetarian risoto. I thought it was good, but she said there was too much goat cheese to finish it. The other items on the menu looked good too. This is one of those places that is not afraid to serve rare meat if you ask for it so if you like that sort of thing this is your place."

"From beginnning to end.......Excellent! We've been wanting to try Big Pappi's Grille and sometimes when you dine at a novelty restaurant although the experience is good,the food is not so great. "The twin filet mignon is a great value and was perfectly cooked and served. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special night out. The ambiance is very nice, the food is top quality, and the prices are just at that point where you don't need to keep this in mind only for the most special occasions. When you're wanting out of the cookie cutter chain restaurants and yet not wanting to go to the expense of the top of the foodie categorie independents but still want a very well done meal, this is the place to go."

"My wife and I really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was as good if not better than some of the big name steak houses in Boston ie. Grill 23 could not match the food here.

After we arrived we were hussled off to a small room in the back with a table of 20 teenagers and as we began to sit down I could not hear my wife talking. I asked the hostess to please provide us with an alternative table. At first she looked surprised at my request. She returned about five minutes later and we sat down in the main restaurant area which was more relaxed and I could hear my wife.

We ordered salads which were excellent followed by the petite fillet which was one of my best ever. We looked at the desserts but they were not too appealing."

"We had wanted to try Big Papi's Grille ever since it openned. My family of 4 went there on a Sunday night, 6pm reservation. The restaurant was mostly empty except for several tables of crying babies which were annoying. I had dined at the prior restaurant, Metro 9, several times and found the experience to be very good, so I was optimistic going into Big Papi's. Overall, I am not in a hurry to go back. Many photo's of David Ortiz and his teammates at the Sox were interesting..but the whole experience left me a little flat. The food was ok, nothing special, but the wait to receive our food was long, about 40 minutes for 2 Burgers, a Filet, and a Salad."

"The menu selection was adequate but the price levels neither matched the quality or presentation of food expected.The owners took a white table restaurant interjected a celebrity prescence, added more casual theme menu items and split the difference on menu pricing. The bottom line it does not work for this patron.

In this economy if you want me to spend a little extra money you better give me a little something extra in quality of food, plate presentation and/or ambience. When I arrived on a Friday night at 7:30pm and it isn't that busy I should of known I was going to be disappointed.

Big Pappi appears to be a great guy but he needs better advice on where he invests his money. Nevertheless I wish them all the best of luck."
