"I have been to the Old Mill Room on several occasions and have been fairly pleased with the food service and atmosphere. However, I took my wife and mother for dinner on Mother's Day and it was very disappointing. The price fixed menu was an assortment of underseasoned and poorly cooked dishes that not a single member of our party enjoyed. It was clearly a "dumbed down" version of their usual menu that just didn't work. It is not my last trip to the Old Mill Room but will never go for another occasion with a priced fixed menu."

"Due to a large, raucous party of women at an adjacent table, my group could barely converse. We were attempting to have a business lunch, and eventually had to remove ourselves to an empty room near the lobby in order to escape the din. Also, the wait staff needs to be reminded that in this day and age it's not always the man who pays. I was embarrassed that my male guest was presented with the bill for the entire group. I expect more grace and polish at the Boar's Head. Haven't been there in years, was looking forward to it, and came away vocally exhausted and disappointed, but the food was good."

"This was our third visit to The Old Mill Room at The Boar's Head. We live about 75 miles from there and find it a delightful day's trip for a wonderful mid-day get-a-way. We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary which was acknowledged with a special treat. Our request for a table by a window was made possible which gave a view of the lake and gorgeous flowers and landscape offered to complete our enjoyment of the entire Boar's Head experience.
On this particular visit, the selection of entrees was not, overall, as good as had been enjoyed on previous visits. However, salads and desserts were fantastic!
We have not been an overnight guest, however, will consider doing so in the future."

"The lunch buffet was a great value. We ate lunch here before starting our drive through Shenendoah National Park. Old Mill Room got us off to a great start.
The buffet had a nice variety of items. There was Carolina style BBQ, a chorizo gumbo, and a variety of desserts that were all very good. The bread pudding and creme brulee were the best items on the dessert tray.
We will definitely consider returning when in the area."

"We were married at the Boars Head Inn 27 years ago and were returning for an annniversary day lunch. The food on the lunch buffet was overcooked including the potatoes, vegetables, chicken, pork, and cod. The meat were dry and flavorless. Even the pasta dishes were tasteless."

"Always a pleasure to dine at the Old Mill Room! The food for the lunch buffet was especially good during this visit (business lunch with work colleagues), and the service was outstanding."

"We went to the Old Mill Room for Valentine's Day. Despite having lived in Charlottesville for years, this was my first dinner there. You can usually count on Valentine's day to be one of the worst meals of the year thanks to the overwhelmed kitchens. Not the case at Boar's Head! The food arrived quickly and was prepared to perfection. I'm not crazy about their decor, but there's no arguing with the food. I'll be back!"

"Thank you for acknowledging our guests's birthday! I didn't even request a dessert for her, and you came through; thank you! Wonderful service, excellent food. A little noisy towards the end (1:15 or so), but not too bad. The chairs need tightening before they collapse.....hope not. Thanks for a nice experience on this special occasion. Judy Collins"

"nice setting and excellent service, but the food wasn't up to the same level. It was fine, but not excellent, which is what I would expect from a restaurant of this price range."

"It was a very good dining experience on a special occassion. The dining area was spacious and suited for table conversation. The personel and wait staff were attentive and responsive. The food was properly described on the menu and prepared per instruction with nice presentations. The wine list was varied with a broad spectrum of options in selections of domestic and international as well as price. My last visit was some 15 years ago, due to relocation and travel, and I was not disappointed on my return. Oh, by the way, did I mention that evrything tasted great."

"The three of us each placed different orders. Of course, we discreetly sampled one another's meals. The rare filet was extraordinary. Fois gras - excellent. Scallops - very good. Lamb shank, not top on the list, but the "lolipop" serving of lamb was excellent."

"Something for everyone! The 5 of us enjoyed turkey clubs, BBQ salmon, peanut soup and crab cakes...All were very good...Even the ninety four year old, who is "never hungry", enjoyed her meal...I loved it when she wanted to lick the bowl to get the last bit of peanut soup!
Our server, Sabrina, was just outstanding and seemed to know what we needed before we had to ask...
All in all, the grandmother, granddaughter, aunt and cousins had a wonderful lunch at the Old Mill Room..."

"We had a party of six women and each ordered three courses. All of us were very pleased with the food, service and the wine list. Some of us had the misconception that it would be too stuffy, but in fact we were very comfortable. We had a cocktail at the Bistro before dining in the Old Mill Room. I will say that the dining room has a very quiet atmosphere so once or twice we had to curb our laughter. Definitely not the place for children or rowdy guests, but a terrific place for great food."

"Went with a large group initial orders were taken quickly. Well accommodating with two infants with our group. Food was good and overall portions were great with a reasonably priced wine list. Great time until it came time to pay. Server was rude when asked to split check and then argued when we said there was a rogue result. Overall fair time there but probably won't be back."

"As always, the Old Mill Room at the Boar's Head Inn is spectacular. The food is always excellent, the ambiance relaxing & pleasant, and the service impeccable. We have always enjoyed our experiences there, even as locals. We have enjoyed it so much that we are planning to partake of the special holiday events they offer -- Valentine's, St. Pat's, etc. We can't wait."

"My wife and I stayed at the Boar's Head Inn and had a delightful Saturday night dinner at the Old Mill Room. The atmosphere was elegant but not pretentious. Although the dining rooms was busy, it was quiet enough that we were able to converse easily. Food and wine were superb in all respects. Service was attentive but unhurried and unobtrusive. Dinner for two with amuse bouche, salad, entree, dessert and a bottle of wine, including tip, came to less than $200 -- quite reasonable for a dining experience of this quality."
