A Consumption Revolution in Uptown, Charlotte. Rooster's Wood Fired Kitchen, A Jim Noble Restaurant, will redefine dining out. A food and wine bar featuring an a la carte menu of comfortable Spanish, French and Italian influenced selections prepared on a wood fired grill, rotisserie and imported Italian oven. Rooster's is high quality and affordable casual cuisine combined with a local Southern boy's culinary impartations. The open kitchen centered in the dining room allows the guest to view the crafting of cuisine while dining at the kitchen's antique granite countertop on a hand crafted pub bar stool. Finishes of Leather, antique stone, beautiful crafted woodwork and wrought iron parallels the artisan architecture and design with artisan, hand crafted styled cuisine.

"For lunch, this is a great place.....great menu, good prices, awesome service, and nice interior.
For Dinner, things are a bit different. The menu is much more upscale, and set up differently. Everything is ordered seperately, so entrees do not "come' with anything. Its a bit harder to read and understand, and if you are not a foodie, you may not know what half the items are, however, the staff is VERY knowledgeable and are required to taste menu items.
The atmosphere is very nice with soft lighting and warm and woody interior. The servers are amazing...friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and provide superior service.
The food is wonderful! I tried some things I had never heard of! The portions are smaller,but delicious."

"Our server suggested my daugher and I share a salad, that it was plenty for the two of us...so we ordered the salad on special. It was last Monday night and we stopped in prior to seeing David Sedaris and The Belk Theatre. For $14 this salad was ridiculously priced... there was about 5 salad leaves torn and laying with about 5 pieces of asparagus and 3 1/2's of strawberries. Yes it was good but Wayyyyyy over priced . We shared it and were hungry the rest of the evening. I took offense and felt I had been ripped off."

"Extremely impressed with all facets of this restaurant. From the house-made charcuterie and overall cheese platter, to great Kale Caesar salad through to wonderful beef tip, hanger steak and pork dish. Great wine selection and sommelier recommendation to match food. Next time will sit up at the kitchen bar which was being run by the head chef just like all the cooking shows. Love this place and will return next time in town."

"Rooster's is DELICIOUS! The eclectic family style menu allows you to pick your main dish and side or sides to compliment your meal. My decision of the quarter natural chicken was divine, my husband chose the duck breast and was thrilled. My friend had the scallops and said they were wonderful. The view of the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant allows a birds eye view of how hard the chefs are working to prepare your meal. We will be back!"

"Loved the cheese and olive plates but that was about it. Extremely disappointed with the $9.00 "steak" burger that had tomatoes larger than the meat and it completely lacked any flavor at all. My side item of the french fries was the best part of my meal.
The $8.00 cheese cake desert was the worst ever and a hugely overpriced hockey puck. Not sure why a lemon cheese cake with blueberry compote tasted like smoke but it was not but lemon was not present in anything more than its color."

"Another rousing success for Chef Jim Nobles who has been a favorite of mine for over 20 years. My first visit to Roosters but a long time fan of his former High Point restaurant and Winston-Salem's Nobles Grill. I even recall the Greensboro effort fondly. Have also been to King's Kitchen with a fine meal. Every food detail is perfection whether it be the scallops, duck confit, or chicken dishes we shared. Family style vegetables with wonderful taste. A delightful mix of upscale Southern country cooking and gourmet cuisine."

"My husband and I took our families here for dinner and it was our first time at this location. The food was wonderful, as was the service, the only thing we just couldn't get past was the fact that our view was looking into the Urban Garden. Those floor-to-ceiling windows of bright white light really take away from the ambiance of the beautiful restaurant and the entire experience. I wish they could add cream curtains to hide the eye sore...it's such a wonderful space, but when you're looking at nothing but those windows it just ruins the mood and the lighting from the lantern over the booth. When we go back I will definitely ask for a table closer to the open kitchen."

"We love Roosters. GREAT food, great knowledgeable staff who can help with decision making since everything looks like something we'd want to order. We prefer sitting at the bar around the kitchen and watching them cook, but this was parents anniversary so we sat at a booth. They also loved it and can't quit talking about what a great meal we had. Favorites? Duck wings, chicken liver mousse, short ribs, veggies, kale salad...OK, everything."

"Service was very slow. Took forever to get drinks and a bottle of wine. Good food overall though. I ordered scallops and it showed up in some beet sauce and that takes away from the scallops. My friend ordered steak and it had so much sauce on it she couldnt taste the meat. She also said it was about 3 pieces of full grizzle. Probably should list the sauces you are going to drown the food in. Also, not sure if this is the same menu as South park but I used to love the polenta wedges over there. These taste like grits."

"Overall this was a great dinner. Food was really good and creative. We all enjoyed it and they didn't rush us.
Bar downstairs main dining upstairs. (they won't serve menu items from the bar to upstairs). Food was really good and deserves a 5 star but my NY strip wasn't a great cut. Everything else we had was very good and well prepared.
Only 2 negative comments. Server was reluctant to do anything "extra" but she did in the end (i.e. add onions to a wedge salad or change the gelato from coffee to chocolate on a desert). Second, the lighting in our booth was really odd. Went from one area dark to another area we all use to try and read the menu's."

"We truly enjoyed our dining experience at Roosters Uptown. We went to have dinner before attending the symphony and were greeted promptly, seated, and served drinks and bread very quickly. The service was outstanding. Our glasses were never empty, our food arrived quickly and our table was cleared as fast as we put an empty dish to the side.
The food was so flavorful and served in good proportions. The butternut squash soup and pork shoulder were just two of many things on the menu that we would recommend.
It is a lively place so it can be noisy, but not so much that it was unpleasant."

"Great restaurant. Delicious North Carolina BBQ pork shoulder! Exceptinal wine list. Loved the open kitchen, and smell of smoking meat outside the restaurant. Parking was interesting for a first-timer. Signs by the lounge entrance on street-level direct you to 6th floor of parking garage, but you may not see them when driving. I think their website should include parking info."

"On business travel, I made a reservation on Open Table for 1 person. When I arrived, they escorted me to the kitchen/bar. I requested a small table instead, and that's when they told me that, on Open Table, their single reservations automatically reserve a kitchen/bar seat. The host was polite about it, & took a tour of the dining room, coming back with "I can seat you at a table that has now just received their entree" as soon as they are done. Potentially a long time, in other words. Sometimes, the kitchen/bar is fine, but I didn't appreciate the presumption, and did not want to sit at the bar this time. It's loud (kitchen team yelling for the next order up) & warm. Bread served was shameful: stale and hard. My server, however, was great."

"They have very good food here with a really strong wine list. They struggle a bit with service, which can be hit or miss. I would say 75% of the time service is good and the other 25% of the time, it seems like someone very new who is a bit lost. They have dessert wines on the menu which is a nice touch, but like most of their wines, they don't store them very well (too warm, especially the reds by the glass) so you have to be careful that they haven't turned. They are usually willing to give you a taste of something if you are ordering by the glass."

"We didn't realize it was a la carte before we arrived, but after checking out the menu we were so happy it was! It gave us an opportunity to share and try even more of the delicious options! I wish we would have have time and room for dessert! Hopefully next time we will...which will be soon! :)"

"This was my first visit to the uptown location of Rooster's, but it will likely not be my last. I love the mentality of Jim Noble. Local, organic and fresh. It was probably the best corn that I have ever had in my life!
The location is perfect if you have plans for an evening uptown such as an event at Blumenthal, etc. You don't even have to go back outside in the elements to get there. Just use the breezeway. It doesn't get much better than that."

"I've been to Uptown Rooster's twice and the first (a Fri night) was a great experience:good food & service, perfect wine rec and an atmosphere conducive to good times. This past Sat night was exact opposite. The food that we received was good but they were out of 50% of what we ordered and we were told with no apology well after the order had been placed and we had to ask for a menu to see what else we would like instead. This should have been first thing offered. We were never sure who our server was since mulitple ones kept coming around and all were rude, incl bartender downstairs. Also, we could barely breath with all the smoke coming from the kitchen. Another friend had same smoke issue a diff night. Time will tell with this Rooster's"

"Great stop before an uptown event. Staff was knowledgable, efficient and very professional. My child uses a wheelchair and we were greeted enthusiastically at the door and assisted to our table with the upmost respect. Food was excellent but being served a la carte the portions were smaller. However after starting with a meat and cheese course we had plenty to eat. Thank you Roosters for a wonderful evening."

"This was our first time at the Uptown location. We visit the SouthPark location frequently. The food is always delicious, consistent and creative. The service is also impeccable! Probably the only reason I took off one star for ambiance is that the restaurant often gets quite smokey. I can smell the smoke on me later and it's not always welcome. Both restaurants need better ventilation."

"My wife and I visited Rooster's when we were in town for an event. I didn't have a recommendation to go on but liked what I saw from the restaurant's website (pretty slick as well I must say). We had the chef's special fish dish, mussels and a sample of their imported ham. The flavor of the food was outstanding with great presentation to boot.
We had a very nice and helpful server. She made some compelling cases to try various dishes and seemed to know the menu very well. We resisted the sales pitch for the bread pudding dessert though it sounded phenomenal.
The portion sizes were also great. To over eat, you would have to order multiple dishes/sides. If I make it back, I will definitely request a seat at the bar surrounding the kitc"

"My husband and I live uptown, so we have a great selection of restaurants to choose from, yet we always go back to Roosters. And there's no chance we won't go in if we have to walk past and smell the food! The duck ham on the charcuterie menu is the best I've had anywhere in the world. I would go there just for that! But then the hanger steak, and those potatoes...outstanding!"

"The atmosphere here is very warm and inviting; that combined with the need to share plates/sides makes this a great place for a date. There is a small amount of items available for vegetarians, but I left here hungry overall, but I'm fairly impressed at the options given this type of restaurant lends itself to meat-eaters.
The service is courteous and professional, and I didn't really leave the restaurant wanting much more. I would definitely recommend."
