"This year, our family dined at Sheerwater Restaurant in celebration of Mother's Day. We were a group of 9, including two 12 year olds. The service was very good and we were especially appreciative of the fact that the restaurant held our reservation even though Coronado traffic made us a few minutes late. The menu had something to please everyone and the food was delicious. The view from Sheerwaters is truly spectacular and we all enjoyed a beautiful celebration. We highly recommend this for your Hotel Del Coronado dining experience."

"I celebrated my graduation at Hotel Del and had a great lunch at Sheerwater Grill. My only complaint would be that the fries were a little over salted. I love the new DUO option on the menu. The goat cheese, sundried tomato, and pesto dip is FABULOUS."

"We had a small (8 people) private wedding party at Sheerwater. The wait staff was attentive and the food was very good. I had the halibut and it was cooked to perfection. We had a great time and the restaurant allowed us to bring in our own cake and they served it after the bride and groom cut it. We were outside with a heater due to the ocean breeze. The heater kept us all at the perfect tenmperature so we were able to stay outside for the entire evening. A very enjoyable and memorable evening."

"Followed a recommendation to have lunch at the Del Coronado for our wedding anniversary while in the area for a conference. Everything worked out very well and we had a very enjoyable lunch there. Food was excellent and service was good. Having a table at the edge of the patio on a sunny afternoon was absolutely perfect! Our server provided us a nice dessert to share for our anniversary and it topped things off perfectly."

"I have eaten here's many times before and the service has always been great. however this time our waiter disappeared for long stretches. Mind you this is a basic buffet for $26. You go here for the view, the ambiance and the service. Too often our drinks were empty with our waiter nowhere to be found and we were there very early in the morning so the place was empty. there was no excuse I could see for this. The food was good. if you want great go to the Crown Room upstairs for brunch."

"This restaurant has it on view. Beautiful setting. My husband had a good burger, but it was like $20. I had the calamari steak frites. It looked like fish and chips. It was way too breaded and terrible. Tried the fish and chips the day before and they were overcooked and also way too much breading. The Lobster Bisque was good.Also, ceasar salad was okay, but they couldn't provide any anchovies. Suprising at such a classic old hotel dining room."

"The front reception was disorganized, so several customers left, but we remained, as we had reservations. The reservations were not accurate, but provided us what we really wanted, which was to dine outside. "The Sheerwater food was very good - brunch especially. The outdoor and indoor dining is very nice and the view toward the Bay is lovely. We were especially impressed with the wait staff who were very nice and accommodating. One waiter took time to talk to an excited young boy at the table next to us about his experience at Lego Land. The waiter engaged with him in such an authentic manner, it was a pleasure to "over hear"."

person and other tables got the bread plate before their lunch arrived, but not us! I had the golden grouper which was wonderful. They did have a fruit bowl they brought out for the kids, that was a nice touch. Was interested in looking at dessert menu, but waiter took too much time to bring it, so we skip it. "Sheerwater is on the Pacific Ocean side of Hotel Del Coronado and the view is spectacular. However, we were disappointed with the service and with the substitution of fish in my husband's order. The salad and drinks were fine. My husband ordered sea bass for his entree, yet the waiter brought mahi mahi. When we pointed out the problem to the waiter, he was not surprised at all and just said "oh." Didn't volunteer to take it back and get the correct fish, just "oh." Seems we were taken advantage of and the waitstaff or kitchen staff thought we wouldn't notice. We were very disappointed and paid our tab and left."

"Food Descriptions were wonderful but delivery flavors were less than exciting. Also we both ordered fish and xxx but the servings were so skimpy that it felt like we were served only fish! The fish was done well and had good flavor but we wanted more of the sides. One thing that was wonderful was that in my Open Table reservation I had asked for a table very near a fire pit/place or heater and we were seated right next to the fireplace. Oksana our server was great. She took very good care of us."

"It's your classic $20 per plate restaurant. The food is better than normal. It is worth it to sit out side and enjoy Coronado beach. The seagulls are very friendly. The staff was nice and very accommodating."

"We were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. The food and service was excellent. The rib eye steak was the best I ever had. Thank you for the complimentery dessert. Dinner at the Sheerwater Restaurant is a must for any stay at the Del Coronado."

"Once in a great while you experience Utopia. Sheerwater will help you get there. Stunningly beautiful view.....esquisite food. The chilled seafood platter for 2 was the absolute best we have ever had. The smoked salmon on the platter was a thick slice with a rich woody flavor. This wasn't your New York or Philly lox!!!! Much better!!!"

"Finding a lovely place to make a vegetarian and a carnivore happy is always difficult. Sheerwater was able to make both of us VERY happy. Brilliant menu with lots of great offerings and delicious sides. (Vegetarians pay attention). Seeing that a fish entree had sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, I asked if I could have those with my Quinoa burger. Our server didn't miss a beat...he said absolutely. The tomato pizzetta was delicious and not skimpy for an appetizer. The burger that my husband had was fantastic. View was wonderful and the atmosphere casual. Would definitely go back again."

"Our goal for this dinner was to be, as a group from out of town, at the Del for its ambiance, but to still have a great meal. The fancier spot was booked and we were last-minute; so Sheerwater it was. And what great choice it was! Terrific food, a chilly evening on the patio by choice, since they were certain to put right next to a fireplace, and delightful food, all made it memorable.
The only fault I can find at all is that our party of seven had to be put in a location that was out of the way so as to be forgotten at times. But we were just fine overall. I look forward to pointing friends their way."
