"Great meal and close to home! Very good margarita, nachos, guac, pea empanada, fish taco. Service was very good - although drinks were a little slow in coming - but not to the extreme. Great spot that I have to remember to put on the "everyday" list. And, the decor is quite nice too. Thank you!"

"Great food, great service and great look. Being a vegetarian often causes me to a "vegetarian/ vegan" restaurant, which isn't always the best for my carnivore boyfriend, or to give up my choices and eat salad at most restaurants. La Calaca Feliz has options for everyone. I'll defiantly be back."

"We go to La Calaca Feliz whenever possible. It's great for Bloody Marias at brunch or the Enchiladas con Meriscos (Seafood) at dinner. Our four year old loves the Mac & Cheese Tacos (sorry, they're only available for kids), and I love the Mezcal Mule (though they go down a little more easily than they should).
Pro tip: When making a reservation via Open Table, tell them in the "special instructions" you want the Crab Fundido as soon as you get there. You look like a rock star, and you get a really, really good appetizer right away."

"My girlfriend and I went to La Calaca for some good food after we hit the titanic exhibit at the Franklin Institute. We had a pretty good time. It wasnt the best mexican food I have had, but it was pretty tasty. The pork belly gordita and the domingo sundae were outstanding. the tacos and the bone marrow were just ok. Great tequila selection. Definitely some wasted young girls that were obnoxiously loud in there too. It was a very interesting group of people dining to say the least."

We had the Nachos de la Casa (favorite in the city - you can barely find a chip not covered in cheesy goodness), baja fish tacos and enchilada con mariscos - all delicious. "After living in Fairmount Area for the last 4 years, this was a much needed addition! Have gone to the bar before (great margaritas and sangria), but 2 nights ago we finally decided to go for dinner and were not let down. The shortrib taco app special was AWESOME. I had the chicken enchiladas with mole and my fiance had the seafood enchiladas - both were amazing. I really don't have anything negative to say other than we wish prices were $1-2 less, but to have this quality of food in our neighborhood, I guess I shouldn't complain."

"We have not a single complaint to register from our dining experience at La Calaca Feliz. The food was excellent, as were the drinks; the service was friendly; and the space was festive and artfully decorated. We previously read a different review, which suggested--incorrectly in our opinion--that this restaurant is trying to mimic another well-known Center City establishment featuring Mexican fare (one at which we've eaten several times). Not only do we disagree with the comment, but we like La Calaca Feliz even more and will look forward to taking the short cab ride from Center City to Fairmount when we're next in town and in the mood for Mexican."

"This restaurant is gorgeous inside. "Chicken with mole sauce was delicious, as was the wild mushroom tacos, and the warm chocolate cake with banana ice cream for dessert. Good draft beer selection and I liked that white wine sangria! The service was very attentive and friendly, and although the place had hard surfaces and is clearly a hot spot on weekends, the noise level was actually fine. Thought our salads were a little too salty, and conveyed that to waitress, but otherwise would give this two thumbs up, and return."

Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and unpretentious. Lastly, considering the high quality of food and service one would be expecting a high cost and would be more than willing to pay that cost had that actually been the case. The price is right at this wonderful Fairmount gem!"

"I highly recommend the $29 tasting menu. It says 3 courses, but you actually get many dishes. I got to try everything that interested me on the menu. The food was great--especially the guacamole, the ceviche, the grilled shrimp, and the flat bread with cheese and brussel sprouts. The chocolate cake was disappointing but the banana ice cream was very good. Our server was extremely pleasant and attentive.
My only complaint is that they would not seat me until the other person arrived. I always see that as pushing you to have to buy a drink at the bar."

"The food is very good, fish tacos are really good but bigger than the server described. Margaritas are made with real lime juice and are delicious. Only con is that the dining room is cold (meaning temperature)for winter dining. Coffee drinks and hot chocolate are tasty but not hot."

"La Calaca Feliz is definitely a neighborhood gem. The food is delicious. I especially like the fish tacos, the freshly made guacamole and the albondigas. Their margaritas are not overly sweet and contain just the right amount of tequila. The waitstaff is always in a good mood. The restaurant is energetic (read: loud) so if you're looking for a fun night out with friends, this is the place. If you're looking for an intimate dinner, go elsewhere. Also, I highly recommend reservations. As I said earlier, this place is a neighborhood hot spot so it gets crowded quickly!"

"Met friends there on a Friday night. This is a kitchen that interprets Mexican cuisine and does not claim to be 100% authentic. Since some of us enjoyed the "tasting menu" which is a multi-course sampling of many of the dishes that are served a la carte, while someone else in our party ordered a fish dish and another person had the beef dish, it could be said we had a fair range of the food that was offered. Everything was excellent. Service was attentive.
My husband and I had been here previously and had wonderful meals each time while for our friends, that evening had been an introductory visit. They said they would put the restaurant on their list of places to return to as my husband and I have done already."
