Our Pizza is a true traditional Neapolitan Pie. The dough must be fairly soft, slightly chewy, thin, but crispy as well as a bit charred with a high border "cornicione" (which is "the frame" of the pizza).
The Neapolitan Pizza is all about "balance"… The tomato must barely cover the dough and should not be precooked at all. The mozzarella fior di latte must be sliced in a few small pieces and should not be spread to cover the tomato.
Basically if you are looking for lots of pasty cooked tomato with funny Italian seasoning and a lot of melted processed mozzarella then you are in for a very disappointing meal. We hope you’ll order something else from our great menu.
"Dined here several times and will never go back . Pasta and meatballs were fast food chain quality. Service was terrible. Pork tenderloin was so tough no one could eat it. Bartender did. Not know how to make a mixed drink. What has happened to this place?? Quality and service sub par."

"We have been here countless times and yet to be disappointed by a meal here. Yes, we do have some misses on some occassions but the meal is generally saved by the other hits we are fortunate to have ordered along with the sole miss. Our recent favorite is the pancetta wrapped bacon that is grilled to perfection. Crisp yet tender, salty from the pancetta and yet with the asparagus sweetness. I could polish off a whole plate of them myself but there's certainly enough of them to be shared. We are also fond of the lasagna and of the pizzas, particularly the white ones."

"We are regular diners at Pizza Vino and always have a great experience. This was the first time for our friends and they complimented the food and service. We introduced them to the affogato espresso dessert with a shot of amaretto liquer over the top."

"Since the restaurant lauds its homemade crust with 00 flour, imported San Marzano tomatoes, and homemade mozzarella, I ordered the Pizza Margarita, which is basically those three ingredients. The crust was quite good, but the pizza was very dry. Not horrible, but not great either."

"Piero's has excellent food. The table service was great. My only complaint was that we had reservations but still had to wait just as long as other people that walked up. Not sure why that happened. The food was worth the wait."

"Picked up my best bud from the airport & stopped by on the way home. Sat outside & had a great meal. We shared a Caesar salad which is always top notch. Pizza truly authentic with a thin crust to die for. This always makes for a great breakfast the next day. My friend had their special of linguine with clams & she devoured it. Wait staff efficient & friendly. Always a place to count on having a pleasant dining experience."

"Amazing pizza! Authentic pizza oven which cooks at 800 degrees so thin perfect crust and pizza. Calamari perfectly seasoned and better than 4star restaurant down the street. Loved to and menu items reasonably priced."

"If you make a reservation ask to be seated in the open air area. El Paseo is a nice drive with luxury stores - a great place for a "paseo" (a walk) after your meal.
They hardly give you any bread (4 really thin slices) of house bread with two oil dipping sauces - chili oil (lightly spicy), crushed garlic oil (nice kick of garlic.)
Calamari were good - could have been crispier. Aioli with it was delicious - tart and creamy. Lasagna with a crisp Italian sausage was amazing - huge slab with with what tasted like mascarpone mixed with ricotta and noodles that appeared homemade. The meat sauce was rich without being overly acidic or too heavy in tomatoes.
The white pizza with braised chicken spinach, garlic and artichoke hearts was gre"

"So glad Pizza Vino is in Palm Desert. Nice to have a REAL Italian Pizzeria bistro style restaurant that is not a chain with fresh ingredients. If you enjoy Italy, you will love it. Very authentic and fabulous! Loved the arugula salad, beet salad, and pizza!"

"Best real Italian Napoli style Pizza outside of Italy that I have been able to find so far in the USA made in wood fire oven. Not the americanized type of pizza. Amazing black mussels in tomato sauce that tastes like it was made by an Italian Chef. Will be back!"

"True authentic Naples dining...especially when it comes to pizza. This restaurant was spot on. The best minestrone soup I've ever had...very clean with the right amount of vegetables, and a tremendous flavor. Pizzas were perfect...not too watery from the cheese the way Naples pizza can sometimes be. The tomato flavor of the sauce was superb. The bread was served wrapped in paper, and tied up in string. I've not seen this before...a very nice presentation. We paid the $15 corkage fee, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Only complaint...felt a little rushed to turn the table:/ Can't wait to go back to the desert just for this restaurant."

"I read great reviews on this place, and decided to try it on a recent trip to Palm Desert. I made reservations for 8:30. We arrived at 8:25, and the host told us it would be a few minutes. We were finally seated at 8:50. I don't understand the point of making the reservation. The table we received was the worst one in the restaurant. It was right in between the door to the patio and the host stand. We felt in the way, and not comfortable. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, and another reason we tried this place was because they had vegan cheese. We wanted to share a pizza, and they wouldn't regular cheese on one half and vegan on the other. So we had to get two separate orders. Overall, the only staff that was friendly were the bussers."

"Melissa, the general manager, continues to provide an excellent experience by overseeing a hand picked staff. Our server, Cliff was knowledgeable and offered suggestions for both food and wine when asked. His recommendations were spot-on. The quality of the food combined with excellent service and reasonable prices keep us coming back."

"Our second visit. This visit was with friends, one of whom requires gluten-free. In his opinion the gluten-free pizza was the best he's had in the Desert. The service was wonderful, both courteous and efficient. This is now to be one of our regular destinations in the El Paseo area."

"This was my very first visit to this restaurant and what a joy it was. From the moment I walked into this restaurant I felt welcome. I was immediately welcomed and felt this way throughout my meal. Michelle was most solicitous and made sure that all of our needs were met. The owner of the restaurant also came over and introduced himself asking how our meal was.
Three of us found our meals to be most delicious. We had pizza, beet salad, and the tuna special. This was followed by the fried nutella ravioli with fruit compote. WOW. I can only say that I wish I lived closer and could frequent this restaurant weekly. I have recently visited Italy and found his meal to be better than meals I had in Italy.
This is my new favori"

"We all ordered Pizza. Each one was delicious and spared no ingredients. However, when we asked for a box to for the leftover pizzas to bring home, we asked to not have them overlap and mix together in one box, but they still threw them all together in one small box one on top of each other. It's a minor point but it is part of listening to what the customer has requested and providing proper service."

"Piero's Pizzavino has deservedly become our most favorite restaurant in the Dessert. The food is outstanding and is complemented by an expansive wine list. The staff deserves only the highest praise. Everyone from the bussers, servers, chef, and manager are totally attentive to the diners. We are treated as welcome guests and not just customers. The manager, Melissa, has catered to our every whim on each of our visits. On one visit, the owner walked around the restaurant to thank each patron and inquired as to the experience. During our last visit this week, the executive chef came to greet us and asked if we had any suggestions. The consistency with both the food and service are commendable. The cheesecake is a must! "This was our third or fourth time at this restaurant over the past year and a half. The pizza menu seems to have a reduced the number of choices, and the quality, while still good, seems to be declining. We will probably try the new pizza restaurant at The River in Rancho Mirage the next time we're in the mood for outstanding pizza."
