Schiller’s Liquor Bar is a casual neighborhood restaurant with a continental menu.
Dishes include rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes, steak and French fries, fresh fish of the day, a selection of pastas and sandwiches, and a market oyster bar. We offer a seasonal list of house cocktails created by our own bar staff. The wine list consists of 3 wines – CHEAP, DECENT & GOOD….CHEAP is the best! Schiller’s Liquor Bar is open daily for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night supper.
The owner is Keith McNally and the chefs are Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson, who are also the executive chefs of Balthazar in Soho, Pastis in the Meatpacking District, and Minetta Tavern in Greenwich Village.

"The food was terrific, across the board, and the service was impeccable. The noise level is a bit out of control, partly because people shout even when they're a foot away from one another, and partly because the walls are covered in subway tile, so of course sound bounces everywhere. I will certainly go back, though I would probably be inclined to go at an off hour, so that conversation is easier."

"because you won't be able to talk to anyone sitting at your table. the noise level is so high that it's overwhelming. everyone seated near me was eating in silence with a deer-in-the-headlights look. we left and found another restaurant after waiting over 10 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us at our table and the noise level was so high that it wasn't relaxing.
i don't know how the food is because we didn't eat but there's no way to avoid a rating on this survey.
i frequent balthazar and pastis but schiller's wasn't up to par."

"Vibrant, noisy, full of people. Warm welcome, great staff. Typical bistro-type food - good quality - tasted OK. We both had a glass of red and white wine - not memorable. All in all a fun night - the ambience and the welcoming staff made it happen. The food was OK, but nothing special."

"A wonderfully high-spirited restaurant with outstanding service and a friendly approach. The crew at Schiller's really know how to create a hot spot for the neighborhood as well as tourists and other guests."

"I made a reservation for lunch and got a call the morning of, informing me that a private party would be kicking us out a bit early. Worried my dining partner would have an unpleasant first experience at such a great restaurant, I reluctantly kept the reservation. Glad I did! The food, as expected, was wonderful, and our server was so gracious"

"Schiller's is so much fun. Looks very cheap Parisian and has a very vibrant ambiance. We had lamb meatballs to start- they were incredible! The Moules Frites was tasty and the Trout cooked perfectly. Wine was weird- our waiter suggested the "decent" red- it tasted like grape juice. The "good" red tasted like it had turned. I settled for an Amstel. All was fine!"

"Arrived on time for our reservation and was immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess who knew exactly what kind of table I had requested. She offered me a choice of two and we sat down. Shortly after our first round of drinks were delivered, she came by and offered us a larger table in a great location and even helped us move our glasses, etc. She came by the table several times to check on us. I thanked her profusely for taking such good care of us.
Our waitress was also exceptional. Very friendly and energetic. The support staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful, as well.
Note: This is a great place to drink. The food is OK. Fills up quickly. VERY LOUD. Great Service.
REPEAT: VERY LOUD"

"It was simply too loud, we could not hear our selves talk at the table. The food was very good, my muscles were excellent, but it was just too loud. It was crowded with some misbehaving children and not pleasant. I would not go back on a Saturday night, maybe a weekday lunch or when the outdoor seating is open"

"Boffff....c'est ce que je dirais.... Je considere cet endroit comme un bon restaurant pour les gens du coin mais pas pour les touristes (comme nous). Nous sommes peut-être mal tombé, mais notre serveur était vraiment désagréable et paraissait impatient. L'assiette de nachos en entrée ainsi que le plat principal Steak frites était très bon par exemple."

"Delicious cocktails and fun dinner with my husband. It was super crowded but we still managed to find a seat at the bar and then had an awesome corner table with a great view of all the action. Highly recommend - will be back!"

"The restaurant was very busy - but the hostess sat us right away. We had a reservation for 4 - our table was unforunately right by the door - we didn't complain, because we were really there for the food and good company. Our water came over to bring us water - was very pushy and spilled water all over my friends place setting. He did not appologize or clean it up - and continued to neglect our table and rush us through dinner.
Great food, cool setting, horrible service.
I suggest going to Pastis (another restaurant run by the same people) instead of this place in the future."

"Food is good, decor retro/Old Europe and lovely, but the NOISE was deafening on a Friday night. We asked several times for the music to be turned down, but it wasn't. We had to yell to hear each other at the table and frequently had to ask the waiter to repeat himself to be heard. It was loud enough that I would think twice before going there again."

"We were there on a Saturday for brunch, very excited by the menu. Most of the food going past looked fantastic; our meals were certainly good, but not outstanding - the omelette a little bland, the huevos rancheros also under seasoned. the eggs with mushrooms and bearnaise were good, but not great. Very popular place, interesting crowd, great glasses of bubbly, and a good value, but we thought the food would pop more. Everyone was having a very good time, and we may give it another try - it comes highly recommended by East Villagers in the know."
