Classic Gotham Steakhouse located in the ultra chic Meat Packing District, established in 1868. The restaurant maintains it's strong relationships with their butchers, allowing them to get their first pick of beef. Nothing but prime dry aged meat - always has been and always will be. Winner of the 2006 Wine Spectator Award. Lobsters ranging in sizes from 4 - 13 lbs., sushi grade tuna, sockeye salmon, Colossal crab meat and shrimp so big they are referred to as small bananas.

"We really enjoyed our dinner at The Old Homestead. Our 7 year old daughter was with us and they went the extra mile to make her feel welcome! Caesar was our server and he was stellar.....the maitre'd/host treated her extra special too! Wonderful dining experience!!!"

"The overall dining experience was ok. I did not enjoy the $41 burger, to me it was a dry and for the price I think it should be served with regular french fries and not tater-tots. The presentation of the burger was very poor. The salmon on the other hand was delicious. The resturant is very loud, so don't expect to have a private conversation. You have to practically yell at each other in order to have any kind of conversation. The service was poor. I thought that it was just the table that I was at but, I noticed the table right next to us was treated the same. I experienced it for myself but, I doubt that I will return in the future."

"I was very disappointed. We had our wedding anniversary and we are not going out very often, so this was a special occasion. First of all the ambiance was plain. The table setting contained two plates, cutlery and two glasses, three quarter of the rest of the table was empty. It took 10 minutes until someone showed up with a menu, another 5 minutes to fill our glasses with water, another 10 minutes to take our order even so we indicated we were ready to order. No complementary bread or anything. The steaks were good, the vegetable soggy and the baked potato very dry. Overall a big disappointment for the money we had to pay."

"My third visit.I made two bad choices - an error in communication brought me soggy fries instead of their excellent steak fries - the prime rib was dry and tough, stick to their steaks.why they have such poor quality prime rib on the menu is a mystery to meMy wifes lamb was excellent."

"My friend and I went to the Old Homestead because we had heard so many great things about the Kobe Burger. We were not disappointed. Serious burger-philes will not be either. This is a no-gimmick burger with the best possible meat. That being said, the burgers did seem to take awhile to reach us and the restaurant was empty. The atmosphere was a bit stuffy but service was fine - nothing outstanding or negative. Overall, a great place for a special occasion or if you want to impress."

"Not really too excited about my experience here. The waiter was a nice gentleman but we had to ask for a wine list and never got told any specials (perhaps there were none). I had taken a client there and her steak was brought out while she was still halfway through her salad. My steak was requested medium and delivered medium/rare (more towards the rare side). The mushrooms were blah.
I just think in NYC with all the options and at this price there are much better places to go."

"The service was great and sides delicious. The steak was ok, I've had much better at other less expensive steak houses. I would not go here if you are looking to have a quiet or romantic dinner. The acostics were horrible, you almost had to yell to be heard. Also the two top tabels were very small and made you feel cramped when the food arrived. Overall I would give it a C+ but wouldn't go back unless to have apps at the bar."

"We came for the burgers that was highly recommended by Bon Appetit. My husband had the 20 oz burger and I had the steak. Both were excellent. The waiters were very attentive without being intrusive. The place where we sat was a little cramped( there were 7 of us) but the food and service more than made up of it.I highly recommend it.
Although it would seem sinful after the meal we had the chocolate cake and pecan pie too. Who know being bad could be so worth it."

"disappointing. The steak was dry and the service was awful. We had to ask our server for condiments three times before getting them. We usually love the Old Homestead, but this experience has turned us off. There are plenty of quality steak houses in this city!"
