The Libertine Liquor Bar celebrates the untamed, pioneering American Spirit with a focus on classic cocktails, craft distillers, boutique wines and an ever evolving menu to best accompany them...
"Restaurant's name says it all: it's primarily a liquor bar, which happens to serve some pretty good food. Atmosphere of the place is designed to appeal to young, trendy, hip types -- totally black and noisy. "Music" was inexcusably loud; and even with very few patrons, the joint was too loud for conversation. Server never asked whether we liked anything we ordered, which was somewhat off-putting, especially since we ordered drinks from the website menu which are no longer on the menu presented. While this place would definitely appeal to a particular clientele, it does not deserve mention as of one of the 25 best restaurants in town, per Indianapolis Monthly."

"The cocktails and food are both outstanding, great atmosphere and exactly what downtown needed! One of our favorites in Indy by a mile - don't miss the bacon flight and if you get lucky and they are on the menu, the brussel sprouts."

"Interesting drink menu, focused on prohibition-style cocktails. As vodka had not gained popularity at that time, gin, wiskeys, etc are the main fare (along with local craft beers and a nice wine list). Food? You have to start with the Flight of Bacon and my spouse indicated her wedge salad was delicious. Try the salmon burger....it is quite messy to eat but it is well worth it.....and they will give you more napkins.
Looks like a hip place for the night crowd!"

"We went early (5:30) for drinks and a bite to eat before a concert. It's quiet and laid back at that time, but was getting crowded and loud just a little later. The music is a tad too loud for easy conversation so once it fills up, "energetic" may be an understatement. The cocktails are very good, interesting mix of flavors and they will customize them for you, making it sweeter, or less sweet. The food is excellent. They aren't afraid to try interesting combinations of flavors and it's usually a one-of-a-kind dining experience."

"I always find the Libertine to be Indy's best mix of fabulous food & cocktails, unparalleled service, and amazing ambience. Don’t let the name fool you- this little “Liquor Bar” has a full menu. I’ve tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointed. This is by far Indianapolis’s most unique dining and cocktail experience. A definate "must" for anyone who appreciates quality."

"The bacon & deviled eggs appetizers were excellent as always. The salmon burger was amazing! The zucchini & butternut squash pasta was different but very tasty. We have never been disappointed with this place."

"It just wasn't our "thing". It might be someone else's. Somehow we thought there would be more comfortable seating. Something more intimate. Very small place."

"Everything we had tasted awesome, but the main dish portions are quite small. Don't go there starving! Perfect place for a light meal like appetizer and drinks."

"Great experience. Food was as noted on the menu, and more. Drink selection great, but the service from the bar was a bit slow. Keep the drinks coming!"

"The Libertine had great reviews on other sites, but it was such a disappointment. We were a party of 7, and were there for about 35 minutes before the drinks arrived. The food menu looked awesome, however they were out of about 50% of items. What they did have was not well prepared, blend, and generic tasting. I have high expectations in a restaurant for service and food if I am going to pay $50 per person. They failed both. The only good thing about this place is the bar; drinks were good, the list is impressive. Their name says a 'liquor bar', so they should stick to that and not mess with food."

"I had scoped out the menu well in advance and chose this restaurant because of the (supposed) availability of some interesting dishes. However, I found out that literally everything I wanted was unavailable at 7pm on a Wednesday--no bone marrow, no trotter cakes, no steak, no rabbit. Nothing else really appealed to me; the entree menu especially is quite limited, so when 2 of the 5 or 6 options weren't even available, I couldn't find an acceptable substitute and ended up ordering a small side dish for my meal. In fairness I should say that we were treated to a complimentary order of mussels due to "mistake in the kitchen," so that was a nice touch, but I would've preferred being able to order a meal I wanted."

"Five of us enjoyed cocktails and oysters on a late Saturday night. Great drinks, the raw oysters were a little heavy on the vinegar, but otherwise great. Service, ambiance, and drinks were all spot on. Definitely recommend the Libertine and will be back."

"Good food and good service; The Libertine is a creative place with an interesting and quirky menu. Drinks took awhile to make their way to our table, but if the company is good, you won't mind- they're worth the wait!"

"It was our first time going to the Libertine. Walking into the restaurant/bar I really liked the lighting and the ambiance. After sitting down a server came over and asked for a drink order. Being our first time there we really didn't know what to expect. We were made to fill like we didn't know anything about the bar or the 1920's/prohibition era. Benjamin never offered to really explain much to us either. After taking our orders he didn't bring them to the table another server did. The menu isn't that impressive and is more for an acuquired taste and pricey. Benjamin never came back to offer refills or take a dinner order. He had a larger party that he paid more attentiontoo. We paid for our drinks and left without eating."

"Food and cocktails were inventive and tasty, and the ambience was stylist and not stuffy. Jowl bacon in the bacon trio was really fantastic. Service was friendly and attentive enough. With a reserved party of 6 and empty tables they squeezed us at a table for 4. The guy next to me couldn't get his second leg under the table and had to have it half out in the waiter's aisle. My recommendation is max 5 people at the 4-person tables. If you want to accommodate larger reservations either put 2 tables together or get some 2-person tables and turn them lengthwise so you can seat people on opposite sides. Also some of the main dishes were absurdly puny (veggie pasta for nearly $20)."

"The bacon flight is a must! Reservations are important and they will call if you have reservations and don't arrive within 10 minutes. The drinks are variations of common fare with some interesting additions and combinations."
