"Cole's is a very comfortable and inviting place with amazing food. With a menu that offers something for everyone and daily specials that do not fall short of the rest of the entrees, this place is a must go. It's not exactly cheap but I feel it is well worth the money and will be my regular special occasion dine."

"Coles 735 Main was recommended by a friend to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful, the food was excellent and the service was first class. I am reluctant to write this review as my wife and I would like to Coles to ourselves but which such outstanding food, service and management I just had to let everyone know what a great place. "Terrific service. We could not get a cab back to hotel because they were all in Louisville for the derby. Our waiter took it on to solve our problem and actually called his girlfriend who took us to our hotel. Wow! Try the fried avocado with crab meat appetizer. First time I've seen it and it was great. "Outstanding…My wife and I went to Coles 735 Main on April 20, 2013 to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. We started with the Apple Cider Pork Belly appetizer and it was outstanding, servers 2 nicely. I then had the Grilled Caesar salad and my wife had the Crispy Pancetta Salad, both were very fresh and favorable. As for the entrees, my wife order the Black Angus Falls NY Strip, this was a perfect piece of beef!! Cooked to perfection and served with potato cakes and fresh asparagus. I had one of the specials for that evening, a heavenly bone in pork chop, cooked to perfection and served with braised kale. I do not know how but I managed to have a piece of their house made carrot cake and a perfect cup of black coffee!! We will be back."

"We have been to Coles one other time. We really liked this restaurant, so we decided to go back for our anniversary. The mussels were incredible on both visits. I could make a meal just out of the sauce and some bread.
I had the pork shank which was very good, but not quite as good as the duck breast from the last visit. My wife was not in love with the stuffed trout but loved the risotto. They took the trout off of our bill even though we insisted that it wasn't necessary. We finished with the chocolate bourbon ball torte and key lime pie which were both outstanding.
The service was great and made up for the fact that my wife didn't care for the trout. This is a great restaurant with excellent service. A little pricey, but worth it"

"This spot has had many incarnations, and they've finally gotten it right! This was our second visit, and it definitely lived up to our expectations after the first. The salmon, the scallops, the big eye tuna are all excellent. And we loved the special av9cado salad. The service was very good, attentive and prompt without being intrusive or making us feel rushed. "Wish I would have found Coles on my first night in Lexington, rather than my last. Food was delicious, service was pleasant & attentive, tables were nicely spaced. Try the panko avocado - yum! "Our first time at Cole's provided us with an excellent variety of choices on the menu to include some vegetarian choices and quite an extensive list of wines to choose from. Upon arrival, the exterior of the restaurant was not as we would have pictured it and might mask the great ambiance we encountered inside. Therefore, we will call this a neighborhood gem that might be overlooked if one didn't know about it. Our server, Audrey, was very attentive to our every need and was knowledgeable about both food and wine selections. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night, yet we received great service. The breaded, stuffed and baked avocado appetizer is highly recommended."

"We have been here at least three other times since this restaurant opened about a year ago, but this was our first visit in a few months. On this particular Saturday night, the restaurant was full and lively. This has clearly become a very popular spot. Service was quite good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, and all staff seemed to work quite well together. The only sour note was at checkin, where one seemingly distracted young greeter walked right in front of us, practically stepping into us, as the other gestured for us to follow her to a table. No hello, welcome, apology or anything from the first young woman. Food was very good; prices seem to be a bit higher than before."

"This was a first time visit to Cole's for my grandson and his girlfriend and I know it won't be the last. We shared the Duck Tacos, Panko Fried Avocado and the Wild Mushroom Bruschetta. For our entrees we ordered the Seafood Medley, the Amish Chicken and the Wild Mushroom Encrusted Beef Shoulder. Enjoyed by all. We finished up with Black Raspberry Chip Ice Cream and hot Chocolate Chip Cookies (which made my grandson swoon as the chocolate melted from the center). Sure looking forward to another great meal very soon."

"I found this restaurant using Open Table since I had no experience or leads on my recent visit to Lexington. All the stars and praises by others are well deserved here. I was given very good care by Melissa/ Melanie (?) from the moment I sat down. She made some great suggestions starting with the fried avocado's. I have certainly never had those before and I must say that besides being a work of art on the plate they were delicious. The house salad had a nice mix of greens and candied pecans which made a great setup for the main course, the bone-in filet with demiglace. This special was a very tender and flavorful cut of beef that really hit the spot. The bourbon-ball chocolate flourless cake made a perfect ending to a great meal."

"Another visit to Cole's and it was great as usual. We are growing fond of the waitstaff who even remember our names. This time, our family of three dined on the vegetable stew, NY Strip, and salmon. All dishes were excellent as was the butternut squash soup. We especially like their house salad and usually split this as it is quite large. The waiters will bring the salad out already divided onto two plates which is much appreciated. Cole's is not a cheap place to eat but it is consistently good and actually is priced a bit lower than some of Lexington's other high end spots. We ended up taking home some leftovers."

"This was my third visit to Cole's. Three out of three consistency is great. This time, four of us had a delightful dinner. Each had a different entree and all reported a great meal. My wife, a true foodie and former restaurateur, raves about the braised short ribs. We were seated in the middle of the dining room and I was concerned about that at first; however, the ambiance was very good. Not too quiet and not too noisy. We were greeted at the door by Cole and the hostess and quickly made to feel welcome. Our server, Billy, was exceptional--very helpful and accommodating. We will be back for sure. Cole's could well be the best restaurant in Lexington."

"Took my wife for her birthday. the food was fabulous from the appetizers to the desserts. Only complaint - if considered to be so - is that I felt the menu was a little red-meat heavy - altho I had the Big Eye Tuna which was great. Will definitely return and recommend to others!"

"We recently moved back to Lexington and had dinner at Cole's on a Saturday night....I want to say that we were seated promptly and our service was attentive. My wife had the Lobster Bisque, Scallops and Bread Pudding , I had the beet salad, veggie pasta. The soup and salad were very ok, the soup lacked the the rich creamy flavor you want with lobster bisque and could have been canned . The salad had a few beets and some greens, Maybe I was expecting more. The scallops were good quality , and the pasta was not really edible. The waiter and manager wanted to exchange the pasta but, I really saw no reason to order something else.

"This is the second time we've been to Coles 735 Main. It has a very nice atmosphere and ambiance. White table cloths and very comfortable seating. Love the fun pillows on the booth side against the walls. I had the snapper special. It was absolutely delicious and presented very attractively on the plate. My husband had the braised short ribs and that was also delicious. I hope all continues to go well for this restaurant. We will definitely be back. I would say this is a restaurant that has adult appeal. The atmosphere is sophisticated, romantic and cozy."

"We loved to bench seating with the eclectic pillows-very clever
The food was outstanding! Fresh, perfectly prepared, and attractively presented.
It was a slow night , and we were well served. I think the service would be equally good on a busier night too.

"Decided to try something new and so glad that we did! Everything was delicious & service was great! Definitely going back when it gets warmer out so that we can sit on the patio :)
My only issue is that the bar area is tiny & it looked like they sat a larger party there which made it even smaller. I would suggest not having low sitting tables in bar area & just a couple of high tops."

"We went to Coles for Valentine's Day. When we made our reservation through Open Table, and even when we checked the restaurant's website, we saw no indication that the menu that evening would be prix fixe. Maybe it was there and we just missed it. Regardless, whereas we were looking forward to a particular appetizer and main courses, we were met with very limited options that we ordinarily would not select and more food that we ordinarily would eat (e.g., appetizer and dessert for each of us). Overall, the food was very good, though, and the service was outstanding; the ambiance was pleasant, as well. We'll just be paying very close attention when making reservations in the future to see if there are any menu surprises."
