The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
Our Regional Southwestern Grill with spectacular views and fresh mountain air is nestled at the base of the breathtaking Santa Catalina Mountains and was once the site of the famous Flying V Ranch. Today, the Flying V Bar & Grill and manager H. Rock Saul, offer guests sweeping canyon views, glowing sunsets and of course our famous Tableside Guacamole. Chef de Cuisine Josh Willett showcases his twist on traditional American cooking with Spanish & Mexican influences, while focusing on locally sourced ingredients. Favorites from the grill include ahi, a variety of steaks & his famous baby back ribs while he puts his own special twist on some regional favorites like duck confit quesadilla, chopped shrimp flautas & pork chop mole verde. Our Patio Menu offers a casual small bite menu with everything from lobster tacos to tamale-fried calamari. Gather at the bar or on the patio fireside with friends to sample one of 70+ tequilas, sip one of our signature cocktails and enjoy the view.
"Great food and outstanding service make this one of our favorite places to eat. The deck is the place to dine as the view is very relaxing. Table side guacamole is a must!!! We already have our next reservation set."

Review 3 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"We went to the Flying V (with friends) for our 62nd wedding anniversary and everything was perfect, especially the staff. We were greeted at the host desk with enthusiasm and our waitperson, Josey, couldn't have been more charming and accommodating. The food was excellent. All in all it was a perfect way to celebrate a wonderful 62 years."

Review 4 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"Pleasant enough, but not particularly memorable. Creme Brulee was more like whipped cream under a thick layer of melter sugar. Our waiter was excellent."

Review 5 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"I ate here twice, since I was staying at the resort and there were few other restaurants in the area. It's not terrible, but it should be much better for the amount they are charging. Service was very good one night, and abysmal the other night. For example, I had not finished my salad, and the server simply shoved my entree next to it on the table, without waiting for me to finish. We were rushed from start to finish. The servers were not rude, simply untrained. Am I being picky? When entrees are over $30, I think that I should expect better service. Similarly, some food (guacamole, salad) was excellent, and some poor (overcooked dry pheasant). For the money, it should be much more consistent. Nice view, though!"

"Guacamole served table side was superb! Scallops were also excellent! We had a lovely outdoor table overlooking the waterfalls and the 18th green. Very enjoyable evening out!"

Review 8 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"When I made the reservation on-line, I made a comment that we were staying at the hotel and this would be a birthday dinner. I was very impressed that the staff was aware of this a week later when we arrived for our dinner. They had reserved a lovely window table for us and presented my husband with a delicious birthday dessert with candle. All without me having to remind them when we arrived. Fabulous service!!!"

"The only issue we had was with the salad. It was just too bitter to eat and enjoy. Not sure why but all the ingredients had a bitter unpleasant taste. Can't remember what salad it was, but was first on the list for $13. Thanks."

"Requewted window table was provided. Rack of Lamb was fantastic and ribs had an amazig amount of meat on them. They did not taste warmed up like they do at many restaurants. A great place for my wife's birthday!"

Review 18 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"Service was very slow. Waited 15 minutes for our first cocktail. ordered another as soon as first was delivered and took over 15 minutes to get delivered. The trout was not seasoned and had no taste, perhaps frozen to long. The Oso Bucco was dry and over cooked. The potatoes gratin seemed to be scooped from a large pan. My serving had a rounded corner as it was from the corner of a large pan. We ordered the Carmelized Banana Split for desert. We waited and waited and when we asked what the delay was, we were told that they had to go to the hotel and get bananas. When they finally arrived, the bananas were not carmelized. They seem to have been put into a hot pan for about 5 seconds and then served. We would not recomend this resturant."

Review 19 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"The entire experience was extremely disappointing. We were celebrating our anniversary, so I requested a table with a view. Unfortunately, the way the restaurant is set up it doesn't take advantage of it's location. The food was was mediocre at best. After we had finished our meals, the server brought us dessert menus. We decided against ordering in fear of being disappointed again. The waiter brought our bill and we paid it. As we began to exit the restaurant the waiter approached my husband and said he was on his way to deliver the dessert he had in his hand to us. He said it was a gift from the restaurant to help us celebrate our special day. We thanked him, but were not inclined to return to our table at that point in time."

"Lamb, tuna, and daily special of scollops--all perfect. Table-made guacamole and margaritas to start. Wine list OK, with some gems, like the Primativo."

Review 21 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"Outstanding food, superb service, overall experience was phenomenal! We will definitely return! We were there for a surprise birthday dinner and even the waiter got in on the surprise! The evening was wonderful! Absolutely loved our experience at the Flying V! Aside from the food, the ambience was relaxed yet luxurious. I truly felt I was at a high end restaurant in NYC. The entire experience went beyond my expectations. I was also surprised at the amount of food you received as well. In comparison to other resort restaurants, the quantity and quality of the food far exceeded the others! A+++++!"

"This is the only restaurant at this resort worth considering. The other food choises here are very average and do not reflect well on the Loewes name."

Review 26 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"This was the second time for my wife and I to visit. We were not staying at the resort either time but had read good reviews, so we made an excursion over to Ventana Canyon from the Westin LaPaloma. Both times, it was well worth the effort. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We received plenty of attention during the entire meal, beginning with the tableside making of fresh guacamole, and continuing throughout the meal. The chef did a great job of tailoring the entrees to meet the dietary wishes of my wife, and the food was delicious, from the skillet cornbread to the Tuna and New York Strip main courses. We will definitely be back."

Review 27 for The Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
"Another somewhat enjoyable visit to the Flying V, but a little less so than in the past. It was just crowded enough that there were no window tables available (even at 6 PM) and the view is a major part of the appeal. It was noisier than usual and the prices had increased. The air conditioner made it quite cool (in January) and it is almost too dark to read the menu that is printed in a small stylized font. While the food and service were above average we probably will not return for a while."
