The Little Village - Downtown
A modern take on the original Village restaurant (established in 1947), our reputation is for serving Baton Rouge’s finest Italian, Prime Beef, Maine Lobster, Veal and fresh Gulf seafood. The Downtown location features daily specials, a full bar and can accommodate private parties for up to fifty. We also have space for up to 15 guests in our bar area where dinner is also served.

"We went to The Little Village to celebrate the end of another LSU semester. The Downtown location is my wife's favorite restaurant in town and the service and food never disappoint. We highly recommend the Palermo special."

"This was my first time at The Little Village. The appetizers, bellinis, and entrees were delicious. The menu had so many options that I felt the usual anxiety I feel when I want to order one of everything on the menu.
We got the fried green tomato appetizer as well as a loaf of the bread. Both were excellent. For my entrée, I got spaghetti and meatballs (I had to go traditional) and these were good as well. I ordered tiramisu for dessert and wished it had more flavor. I ended up eating my mom's cheesecake.
The service was unmemorable, which I guess is good because they weren't intrusive and I never felt neglected.
Will definitely go back."

"Was in Baton Rouge on vacation and this was one of the few places available, so decided to try it - was glad I did!
The bread is to die for! A must have if you visit. I had a caesar salad to start which was one of the best I've ever had - very garlicy! And then the pasta with meatballs was absolutely perfect.
Although the food was great, the biggest thing that stands out was our server. It was a busy night (lots of prom parties there), but our server was attentive, friendly, helpful, quick, and professional. Quite possibly one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had!"

"For lunch the noise level is just ok, but for a quiet dinner I have now discovered it is a very poor choice. The noice level is absurd!
PLUS the hostess wants to seat everyone in sequence, fine for Europe!, but when you have a room full of open tables in Baton Rouge, I do not want to be seated at a 2 top between one of the few other customers and a wall!

"As always, the food never disappoints. The Lobster bisque was especially good and I am still having dreams about the desert: Sticky Toffee Pudding and Salted Caramel Ice Cream with caramel sauce you pour over the top of the pudding. It was absolutely delicious."

"I was disappointed once again with my food at the Little Village. My wife and I each had specials. Mine was average at best, but hers was awful. A filet stuffed with seafood stuffing that was so salty that it was barely edible. Our meal totalled over $150 and was just not good. We won't be back."

"Another outstanding visit to the Village. This wait staff is great. Each helping the other to see that your dinner experience is great. We started out with a couple cocktails. New Bartender that knows his drinks. Started out with Lobster, crab, and crawfish rolls. So good. Of course we had to have some of that fine bread with the olive mix. After a good house salad, we finished the meal with a bottle of wine with the Steak Palermo. It was to be cut with a fork tender. If you never have tried this, do so on your next visit. Little pricey, fifty, but it is great."

"The Little Village is a beautiful space and the food was top-knotch. But like some times before the service stinks. Our waiter, "D", seemed to be very preoccupied, or bored or distracted constantly. Had the feeling that he didn't really want to be at work that evening. I always as a rule leave at least 20% tip but that night, only 15%... This restaurant has great food but with the poor service, it will be a long time before we go back. I also noticed that there was no staff, other than the pretty hostess, that had an actual smile on their face or had a happy disposition. maybe its not a fun place to work."

"The menu is varied and offers a nice selection for lunch. My seafood Canelloni was good, but my wife's steak was overdone and too saturated with butter. We did not have time at lunch to request another properly cooked steak. She said it was good but she had to drain much of the butter and oil from it before she could eat it. The bread is fantastic, so be sure to order a half loaf with the meal."

"I visited the downtown location last Thursday for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ribeye special. Our server was excellent. I don't recall his name but he has a dark complexion and a thin build. He is to be commended for his professionalism and attentiveness. I mistakenly left a personal item on the table and he ran down the street to bring it to me. Please thank him for me. "Litle Village is our favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. We prefer the location on Airline Highway because the service is superior! The last two times we dined at the downtown location, the service was slow. We had to remind our server that we ordered wine. Saturday night, our wine sat on the bar for 20 minutes with our server passing us several times. Finally my husband went to the bar to pick the wine up for us. The manager never came by to apologize. The food was fantastic all always. Our dining experience at the Airline location is always excellent! We will not frequent the downtown location again."

"Dinner was fine, but not exceptional. I'm a vegan and ordered just sides--salad, baked potato, steamed broccoli and asparagus. The potato was small and ordinary, the broccoli was cool, and the three stalks of asparagus was way overpriced at $11. The specialty bread was quite good, as were the seafood dishes my wife and our friend had. Both ladies were pleased with their meal and said their fish dishes were perfectly prepared. We were happy with the wine selections and the wait staff. Brittney, our server, was delightful. With tip, $183.70 (3 people) .
Next day we ate lunch at Parrain's where the meals were just as good or better, larger portions, and less expensive; sides and cocktails were exceptional With tip, $106.76 (4 people"

"I rated 4 stars due to my overall impression of Little Village on previous visits. On this visit, I chose the linguini with clams, something you don't see a great deal on menus in the South. Not a good choice. Bland, no flavors of garlic or wine. A few littleneck clams were supplemented by chopped canned clams. Quite a few wines by the glass were unavailable; the server explained that they were in the process of changing the wine list. Lesson: stick to the red sauce menu items."

"My first time since they moved from their old location downtown. I wasn't that impressed. The building is nice but the food is overpriced. I've had better Italian for half as much. Also, they were not very accommodating for a friend with food allergies."

"My husband and I have been going to The Little Village for a very long time and I have not ever had an experience like this weekend. They were very busy with prom and the table next to us got special treatment. They are suppose to know how to handle a crowd. The waiters would cater to the big tables and would just drop our food off and go. We like to go there because they make you feel special, but not this night. The food was very good, but I think the waiters were a little overwhelmed. I will go back there, I just hope they get a little better when they are that busy I like the special touch they usually supply."

"The half-loaf or whole loaf of bread is the best you'll ever put in your mouth. Unless you don't like butter or parmesan cheese - then you should skip it. I can't recommend it enough.
The Fettuccinie Alfredo is second to none. The fresh pasta is perfectly cooked with ample sauce. And if you add shrimp or chicken you won't be sorry.
And they cook fish here as well as any restaurant on the planet. Our Sea Bass was cooked to perfection, rich with flavor and perfectly flaky. Outstanding.
I don't come to (or drive through) Baton Rouge without stopping here for a meal."

"We are self employed and enjoy taking new clients to your house. Unfortunately this visit was a let down. 2 out of 3 meals were below par for Little Village. This will not stop us visiting again. This visit however was disappointing and unenjoyable."
