"Zambri's. Walk in and the day's stresses drop away. Light and airy Prosecco on arrival, a succulent perfectly-prepared salmon over polenta, with a full fan of crispy broccoli (who knew this was possible?); house-made sausage with farfalle: delectable, but Fred really misses the maccheroni. Relaxed meal, friendly service, Zambri's always lives up to my expectations and surpasses them."

"Wow, what a happy surprise to discover that Zambri's did brunch? I had no idea until I arrived for what I thought was a Mother's Day lunch, but they had a terrific brunch menu. I had the meatballs and eggs, which was FANTASTIC! The eggs were perfectly cooked and obviously free range with terrific dark orange yolks, and the meatballs with the eggs was such an interesting combination and all served on top of firm polenta with a lovely tomato sauce. A truly great brunch experience."

"Met a good friend for lunch on a sunny workday. Server was friendly and attentive. My friend had the Hawaiian pizza which was very good. I had the Italian Cobb salad which was a bit lack lustre to be frank. Needed more bacon and walnuts and came with a wobbly deep fried egg - not my thing.

"I took an aging friend to lunch (before going to the Symphony performance), and chose the restaurant I knew she would enjoy. She did.
I enjoy dining at Zambri's, since I love the food there. It's the Italian food I really enjoy. Unfortunately I don't get downtown often, so can't be there as often as I would like. Will most likely be at Zambri's when I get back from Tuscany and am craving the "real thing.""

"The atmosphere is nice.The service was excellent. A small note would be I was first seated at a bad table in an empty restaurant,in the back by the cash register..I was willing to tolerate it. Then my server requested that we relocate outside of the restaurant to the atrium "dt.error". I did have to ask for wine when the entree came.we were given a better table eventually then the fire alarm went off. My guest really enjoyed her salmon.(stating it was cooked to perfection.)I regreted my choice. My swordfish was disappointing.lost the eggplant, fish over done? I was hoping for something more..the polenta was heaven. The Tiramisu not so great..missing marscapone? I would come back for drinks and appys.Pricy not great for dinner"

"We were very happy with our table. Although it was busy our server was prompt in taking our drink order. Not so prompt in actualy delivering it however, and had to be reminded. This naturally resulted in our appetizers showing up shortly afte rour cocktails. Unfortuynately that was compounded by one of our main dishes (the lamb shank) being so tough it was hard to cut! Not acceptable at these proces"

"Food was good but the service was slow. 1.5 hours between appetizer and pasta. No apology or explanation until we inquired after one hour if our food was coming. We saw two tables receive their food and leave and we were still waiting for ours. We were a table of three people, I could understand if we were a large group. Apparently the reason was a big table came in and jumped our order in the kitchen. Poor excuse!"

"Been meaning to go here for a while and finally got around to it. We had three dishes: custom pizza (tuna and cherry tomatoes), veal milanese, and salmon with broccoli and polenta. The pizza was quite good - thin crust cooked perfectly, tuna was not overcooked and the background sauce a nice complement. The veal milanese was not good - an overcooked, breaded cutlet that tasted like it had come from a bag of frozen cutlets obtained from restaurant supply; coating was hard and crumbly, veal mediocre. This was identified as a signature dish but it wasn't what one should sign. Th salmon was cooked well but the polenta was a gooey mess that looked like an inner tube surrounding the dish. On positive note, a Sicilian wine was excellent."

"My wife had the Beef Tenderloin and I had a Halibut dish with coarse root vegetable mash, browned butter, and toasted almonds. Dessert was chocolate gelato affogato and a chocolate pudding with caramel, all very delicious. Service was attentive and friendly, and the location is attractive. Being slightly out of the downtown core, street parking is available not too far away. Their online reservation system is very convenient. Highly recommended."

"We were looking for some place within walking distance of our hotel while in Victoria and found this listing on OpenTable. Sounded great from the other reviews. Walking by and judging from the outside, you might pass it by because it is in a modern office building, but don't let that fool you. It claims to be Victoria's only authentic Italian restaurant, and the food definitely lives up to that claim. It is excellent, as is the service. We couldn't have asked for better. When in Victoria again, we will definitely go back."

"Met a new-to-me person there for a business lunch; she quite enjoyed it. The coffee was outstanding; always important factor to me. The roasted vegetable sandwich we both had were a bit disappointing, skimpy on the veg, with airy bread. But the service was very pleasant."

"I've previously always been impressed with Zambri's food and enjoyed my meal very much. This time, during Dine Around, my husband and I weren't impressed. I had the $30 menu and he had the $40 menu. We each had a different 1st course and didn't feel that our food was more than average in taste or flavour. For the pasta course, he had the tagliatteli and I had the rigatoni. We both felt they were quite dry and could have used more sauce. I felt my rigatoni could have been very good with more sauce and far less salt. It was so salty that it was not enjoyable. My husband had the lamb shank and I shared some of his. We both felt it lacked great flavour and it was dry.
The dessert was only just fine, not exceptional."

"Zambri's has been a long-time favourite; I've been going since well before it moved to its location on Yates and Blanshard. When the place was smaller, I would almost without fail have an eyes-closed-oh-man-this-is-so-fantastic moment. That hasn't been happening so much since the move and expansion. But the food quality is generally solid and service has been great: friendly and knowledgeable. Not so much on this evening: the waiter was largely absent; never asked how things were; and gave mediocre wine advice. The food was OK, but the lamb was pretty dry. I probably won't order from a promotion menu again.
I'll return, for sure, and hope the excellent service and good quality food are up to past standards next time."

"Zambris is one of the few dining experiences that consistently exceeds our expectations. Whether lunch or dinner the food is incredible. What really is mind blowing is the service, the staff are attentive and knowledgable to say the least. Make sure to reserve a seat though."

"Very good and reliable menu that has imagination around typical Italian usuals. The tiramisu is one of the best, in my top 5. You can always trust the menu to excite.
Though it is a little on the noisy side, that speaks to the good times being had by the customers. Otherwise Zambri's is a great place for dinner out any night of the week or for a special occasion."

"Decent food, but not worth the price. The service wasn't great (they didn't even ask if we wanted coffee after our meal, they forgot to put a candle on my husband's dessert for his birthday). The set menu for "Dining Around" was good but the cannoli dessert was not good and very small. The lamb shank was not very good. The tagliatelle with gorgonzola, leeks and candied walnuts was exceptional though. As newbies to Victoria everyone raved to us about Zambri's but I won't be rushing back."

"I booked on the spur of the moment, didn't know Dining Around was happening, but was happy to try one three course entry and then one item from the four course set...lamb shanks. The shanks were very tough and had to be sent back. I had the three course with cold pork slices before and they were okay, pork was tasty, but too cold for a cold night, nothing that special, and my pasta entree had flavour but was boring...lots of noodles in a Cream sauce with a few tiny green onions and too few sugared walnuts!
My dessert was the special chocolate filled cannoli...the centre was nice but the shell was tough, hard to break.
My mother had the tiramisu and that was very good, as was the wine and the service."

"I've been to Zambri's on many occasions and always enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere. This time was for a lunch meeting. I thought they would be packed so made a reservation but there was ample seating and we were given a big table where our group could discuss business over lunch. The server was great, she was attentive but not too much. And she didn't say "how is everything tasting?" -one of my small irks these days with servers. The food was as tasty as ever. I had halibut and clams with polenta which was topped with fresh arugula. Yummy and flavourful! Definitely still one of my favourite restaurants in town."

"The food is always delicious. We have no doubt when we go there that the dinner will be excellent.
Do wish that spaghetti carbonnara and mushroom risotto would be on the menu occasionally. Remember them from the old location."
