"We told our waiter we were headed for a play and wanted to make sure we had time for dessert before we needed to leave. He made sure everything was served in a timely manner without rushing us, and we were out on time, after delicious dessert (the chocolate mousse is wonderful!)"

"Bar staff was friendly and attentive even though the bar was busy. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and explained the menu items. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary and were given our choice of free desserts. We live in Venice and this was our first but will not be our last visit to Darwin's."

"Food was fantastic. Darwin's skirt steak lives up to the hype. Marinated 24 hrs, tender, and flavorful. Arctic char is like a non fishy salmon. Fig marinade is fabulous. Both paired well with an Edmeades red Zinfandel. Any appetizer is a great choice. Don't miss Darwin's when you visit Sarasota!!!"

"Have been to this restaurant many times but this experience was overall a miss rather than a hit. Mixed fish fry, Jalea, was overcooked resulting in very dry fish. The side of yucca was hard as a rock and inedible. I think it was just a rare off night."

"Unfortunately only a few of the dishes served lived up to restaurant's reputation. Good reviews for the lobster taco (small plate) and the clam chowder. The Thai lettuce role was just okay and the quinoa and shrimp was overly salty (too much soy sauce) and had only two small shrimp. Although the flavor was good, the pea rizzotto was a thick lump of mush."

"First time visitor and were very pleased with the menu, service and ambiance. Who would think that Peruvian food could be so diverse. The preparation, presentation and attention to detail were evidenced in each dish.
We will be back to try the Ahi Tuna. Had a taste from a friend and it was delicious. The poached pear were very different and wonderful.
This is a "must go to" restaurant!"

"This was our second visit to Darwin's on 4th in a week, and the food didn't disappoint. We wanted to return to try some of the items that intrigued us from our first meal, so we tried some of the native Peruvian dishes. They were all beautifully prepared and tasted fantastic, especially the Mixto Ceviche and the Crab Meat Morada. The Cornish Hen A La Brasa was a huge portion and very tasty. This time, we left room for the Tres Leches cake, which was both moist and delicious. Highly recommend Darwin's on 4th! Our waiter was not as attentive as the first time, when Kendra was our server, but he had several tables to keep up with. Overall, it was another wonderful experience and we'll be back."

"We have been to Darwin's several times and have never had a bad meal. This time we started with the chopped salad. The salad was actually chopped and had a lot of interesting ingredients. It was very hard to taste the dressing so we wanted to flag down our waiter to get more dressing. It was difficult to catch him. When we finally did catch him and he brought the dressing it was very good. I had the Arctic Char which was delicious. My husband had the beef stir fry which was also delicious. We would highly recommend them. We will go back often!"

"What a fabulous dining experience!! We were new to Peruvian cuisine, but our server, Kendra, guided us thru the menu, she also selected 4 samples of beer for me to try from the microbrewery and they were all delicious!! We had salmon ceviche, the quinoa dish and the sushi-type rolls (potatoe). The flan was excellent!! We also enjoyed watching the chefs cook and assemble the dishes!! Top notch and a gr8 experience!!"

Kendra was our server, and did an awesome job, including suggestions for appetizers and main courses. We snacked on plantain chips and yucca, had the Thai Shrimp Spring Roll starter and feasted on Braised Short Ribs (a native Peruvian dish) and Duck. "Fabulous restaurant. Lots of fun. Not overpriced.
They are known for their beer sampler...4 small glasses so you can sample some of their many house brewed beers. So we were surprised to be told that out of our group of seven, only 3 of us could have one because they are too much work to pour! But we still had a great time."

"We had a fabulous experience at Darwins! There were 8 for dinner so everyone enjoyed plenty of tastes of Peruvian influenced food. I had the tuna ceviche small plate to start with sahimi grade tuna pieces on thin slices of watermelon with an amazing sauce.wow! Most of our party chose the short rins and everyone was pleased. I am not a beer drinker but tried the Darwin brewed beer in two varietis and really enjoyed both. The service was friendly and informative.
Desserts were great as well. We look forward to our next visit!"

"Phenomenal place. A fusion with Peruvian roots. Loved the industrial decor, a very relaxed environment. This restaurant has an excellent menu, well executed by the kitchen. Award winning beers micro-brewed on location. Perfect-sized portions. Focuses on the food and not the pomp. Not quite a Michelin, but very good."

"The food was amazing the only problem is narrowing down your choices to just one! My only concern both times we have been at Darwin's is that the server who is very nice has almost impossible to find when you need him and he has no back-up support, even the water person is MIA. It did not ruin our dinner but it very frustrating when you need something and no one is around. Since i live far away, I am coming with Tupperware so I can order extra to go and so all of the great sauces do not leak out of the cheap plastic "clamshell" style they currently on to my backseat!"

"During Early Bird dining, we sat at a table in the bar and throughly enjoyed our small plate orders of both PEI raw and New Zealand roasted mussels, cold fish and calamari. My husband sampled one of the micro-brewery beers while I enjoyed a $5 Chilian Chardonnay. The our waitress was very attentive and efficient. We will enjoy looking forward to enjoying a full dinner at a later date."
