"This happening place is in the center of vibrant Old Town Pasadena yet feels private and exclusive located through a small Florentine arcade and up a floor, it's open and breezy yet cozy, it's a refuge and a getaway so close to home. The food is wonderful, the drinks sublime, setting memorable, service present always yet never over present, the music enjoyable. Great Place!"

"As you walk through the door before you is a beautiful, unexpected deco staircase. At the top is the entrance to the restaurant. Beautifully appointed. We sat at a round table for six. Waiter appeared and took drink orders and answered questions. Appetizers arrived promptly after we ordered. They were devoured immediately. I had the slow roasted pork. Best I've ever had. The portions are generous, everyones dinner was cooked to perfection. Will be back again to try other dishes."

"Not as good as other evenings.... A Wednesday night and fairly quiet. We missed the Kim Chee Tacos which have been removed from the menu even though a big favorite. Big mistake! I went there looking forward to having those for dinner. Very disappointing, don't remember what else we ate ( party of four)

"All around great spot, love the ambiance and the food. It's somehow loud and energetic but yet still romantic. I went with my girlfriend and we sat at one of the back tables away from the bar, we still felt like we were part of the scene and the people watching was great but we could hold a conversation using our inside voices. Love it, we'll be going back often. The Margherita pizza and short ribs were both amazing."

"Problems in the kitchen and wine list availability. The first two bottles of wine we ordered were not available. The seafood risotto was way too spicy -- not even the waiter knew that the chef spiced it up so much. We all agreed it was inedible. My entree of the sea bass was so miniscule, that it was hard to believe that it was a high priced entree. Overpriced for what was delivered. Per the menu, it appears Vertical is in search of its identify. We left feeling unfulfilled and frankly ripped-off. We will not be back."

"Arrived for an early pre-Pasadena Playhouse dinner and were seated in the bar side of the restaurant for the first time. Because it was early, it was neither crowded or noisy and very pleasant. Enjoyed sliders, salad, calamari, and grilled asparagus along with glasses of chardonnay and malbec. A very pleasant dinner and made it in plenty of time to the play. Park in one of the nearby structures rather than paying the valet $10."

"We have visited Vertical Wine Bistro on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed our experience. This particular visit was the best one yet. The atmosphere was very appealing and our meals were outstanding. The only aspect that surpassed those parts of our experience was the service. Our waiter, Eric, went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. He is a true professional that is better than any marketing firm a restaurant could hire to do PR. His demeanor, service and recommendations were all top-notch. With ambiance, food, and service like this, one can't go wrong."

"We were at Vertical Wine Bistro prior to a show at the Pasadena Playhouse. I don't drink but my son with whom I shared dinner, loves great wine and reports that the wine list is extensive and varied and the wine he enjoyed was wonderful. The food was terrific - I had the slow roasted pork and my son had the hanger steak. High quality, very unique and interesting taste, beautifully presented food. The service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant highly."

"Vertical was very disappointing all around. For starers, my wine was corked and this was clearly visible from the color and obvious 'corked' nose....this is supposed to be a wine bistro..... It seemed that the wait staff was too thinly stretched; our waiter was well intentioned but just overwhelmed. The kitchen clearly cannot handle a busy Friday evening (but this was 9 pm so not that busy), and after waiting almost 50 minutes for our main course it was mediocre at best. We were seated in the front part of the restaurant adjacent to the bar area and the sound level was deafening. We have been to Vertical three times previously, this was our last."

"I was introduced to this place last year and have been back several times. Every meal was fabulous with a great selection on wine and drinks. I like the option of the smaller plates to share, but everything is so good, I usually end up taking home leftovers (happily!). This particular time, my soup never arrived before my meal, but when I mentioned that to the waiter, he had fresh soup brought to me at no charge. It was delicious and you can't beat the price."

"We have eaten at Vertical many times, but this was our first seating in the new dining area that faces Raymond Ave. it is not as private and romantic as the "back room". One meal was delivered 10 minutes after two of us had been served. (Party of 3)

"Loved everything about this restaurant. The ambiance could not have been better. We were seated in the back room right next to the fireplace .. very romantic.The food was terrific. I had the slow roasted and my husband had the lamb shank. Both so delicious. And there was no skimping on portion sizes .. we both left with "doggie bags." From the moment we walked in, all the staff were warm and friendly and enthusiastic. We felt right at home. We will definitely be going back."

"Four of our six courses were wonderful, and two were not. Our waiter was pleasant, informative, and generally timely, although he disappeared a few times when we needed him. A great place for wine and hors d'oeuvres but the dinners were not memorable."

"We first got seated right next to the piano, with live music that would have felt a little weird. Per request they moved us to the back which was much better. The food was great. The server was really friendly and helpful. The food was really good. I would go back here again."

"I took my girlfriend for her birthday and the place is very nice but I think she would of preferred something more romantic. Seems more like a place for a casual drink with friends or a fun night out. Tables are very close together and we found it hard to talk with people sitting very close on both sides of us."

"A great vibe in the heart of Pasadena. Our first trip after reading about it. It was just as advertised. The food was unique and we felt like it was a great change of pace. The lighting was perfect for the location. Will make sure it is one of our regular spots. Drove from Santa Clarita just to try it out. Glad we did."
