"It was marvellous! We had a lovely time. Casual dining especially if you want to sit outside in the summertime :)
Authentic French food in perfect portions. The food is so flavourful that you get full on small portions. Only thing was that when they renewed our bread for a second round, it was cold and stale:( that was not so good but everything else was fantastic!"

"We gathered to celebrate the engagement of my son. He did his research and picked Cafe Provence for the occasion. We had a truly wonderful evening. The food was just excellent and the servers were very attentive but not hovering. We will certainly come again!"

"Everything we had was excellent. My husband and I try new restaurants often, but had never been to Cafe Provence. We both quickly decided it is a new favorite place. There are very few times when we walk away for a $150 dinner and say "that was worth it", but we did at Cafe Provence. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was fabulous."

"This was our first experience and we chose it because of Zagat. We were overwhelmed with this small restaurant, tucked away in the Prairie Village Shopping Center. My wife had the dover sole and I had the "special" (wreck fish, which I had never heard but the server recommended it). Both dishes were spectacular. I also had escargot and they were as good as any I can remember. All in all, it was a wonderful evening."

"Cafe' Provence is our favorite restaurant in KC. We love the owners and their attention to our satisfaction through attentive and unobtrrusive service. "My wife and I had dinner there on 5/17/13 for our anniversary. It was outstanding. We shared Bleu cheese stuffed dates as an appetizer. She had potato/basil/leek soup and Halibut, and I had the endive salad and the duck entrée. We also shared the Coquiles St. Jacques appetizer. We enjoyed all of our choices. We shared the chocolate mousse dessert also. Both of us highly recommend Café Provence."

"We enjoyed the food at Cafe Provence despite the table we received. Although there were plenty of tables available, my wife and I were seated at a table that was located at the intersection of the kitchen and the dining room. It didn't make for a great experience even though the food and wine were fine. We went for my my wife's birthday and it made it hard for us to talk and enjoy our meal with nearly every person who came into the restaurant, went to the bathroom or in/out of the kitchen passing around our table. Probably won't go back unless we are with another couple. All of the tables for four or more people are fine."

"Did not live up to expectations. Service was lackadaisical. Restaurant tables were crowded together. Noise level was a bit high. Menu had changed from the on-line version. Of the three in our party, one (me) had endive salad and escallop de veau. Excellent. One had Caesar salad and salmon. Poor and fair, respectively. One had mussels, because the steak au poivre she had picked out on-line was not available on the modified menu. Mussels were barely edible, as they were smothered with raw onion. Wines were good. Price was about the only thing that was up to expectations, unfortunately. It's a neighborhood restaurant for us, and we really wanted to like it. We won't be back."

"Having driven by several times, my wife and I decided to try Café Provence after reading the Zagat reviews. So glad we did! And, wish we didn't wait to discovery this neighborhood gem. Our seating was earlier in the evening (5:45)and the crowd was a mix of young and old (a high school prom couple to senior citizen retired). We could tell that many of the customers were regulars as the wait-staff knew them by name. Overall - GREAT food. We had the salmon and scallops for starters. And the veggie plate and salmon for dinner. The apple tart dessert was wonderful as was the Millionaire Coffee. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was friendly and neighborly. We'll be back"

"Cafe Provence was perfect for a rare evening---a one to one with my sister who I don't see often due to "geographic" reasons. "It was our third wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The waitress was very attentive, yet unobtrusive. My wife had a soup du jour, cauliflower, and it was excellent -- very fresh and clean. I had the classic French onion, and it was spot-on. We ordered a special, which was grouper, as well as the Cote de Boeuf Braisee. My wife loved her grouper, and I can say the same for the Braisee. The greens were suited nicely to the shortrib, while the onions, potatoes, and accompanying sauce rounded out the taste profile. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Gateau au Chocolat, while my Tarte au Citron was wonderful, meaning that it wasn't too sweet. I enjoy tart lemon flavor, and it can be hard to find in a restaurant."

"This was wonderful. The food was delicious. I had the scallops and the sauce was delicious. My friend had the quiche and loved it. My other friend had the chicken with mushroom sauce, it too was delicious. Have to go back b/c I am going to try everything on the menu but salmon....quiet, charming and tasty...no wonder it was listed in USA Today's top 10 list."

"Outstanding ambiance of a family owned restaurant and all the servers are family members. The food is outstanding. The restaurant is not large and has a distinctive, welcoming personality. I drive 80 miles round trip to dine at this restaurant. That should tell you something about how good it is."

"My wife and I recently returned from a week in St. Martin and St Barth, this local establishment absolutely rivaled any meal we had in that week. The service was beyond compare, and we left feeling like we had known the staff for years. The food was amazing at every course. The setting was perfect, intimate seating. The bartender, The wait staff, the owner, the chef, all turned out to be a family, and it showed as we felt we had been invited to dinner rather than reserving a table. Can’t wait to return!"

"Fabulous experience. The food was exquisite: well- prepared, creative, flavorful, not too heavy. The service was outstanding. The dining area was cozy, intimate, well-designed. It is clearly one of the better, if not the best, French restaurants in town. We had the stuffed mushrooms, a cheese plate which was generous and paired with fruits and accompaniments to delight the tastebuds. We then enjoyed the scallop entree which was heavenly, well-cooked, and just the right amount of sauce. My son had the salmon with puff pastry which was light, delicate and flavorful. The desserts were so well-prepared, that even though I am not generally a dessert person, I was devouring every last bite. No to be missed!!"

"Chef and restaurant are gaining terrific local praise. I couldn't wait to check it out. I was not disappointed but was not taken to a "whole different level" of dining either. For Kansas City, this is about as good as it gets. Unfortunately, that's not saying a whole lot either. This is good food prepared very well. My daughter had the filet and it was extremely good. I had the veal and thought it was good. Steak portion was good. Veal portion was on the small side but typical for french food. Mushroom appetizer was perfect, and the desserts were really, really good. I only do decaf at night and they had very good french press decaf. It was perfect with my creme caramel. Great spot for a special occasion."

"My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Cafe Provence. We had been here several years before and had a nice meal, but this visit was exceptional. Both of us enjoyed every bit of the meal. The chicken dish was perfectly prepared (moist on the inside with crackling delicious skin)and was one of the very best pieces of poultry I've ever had at a restaurant. The menu was seasonal and fresh. The service was friendly and efficient. It was our best dining out experience in Kansas City in several years and reminded me a bit of outings years ago at the long gone Metropolis and Cafe Maison. We will be returning soon."
