"We attend the CLO every year and have been to Vallozzi's a number of times. The food was fine however the service was (being kind) lousy. The server was unhappy that only one of us consumed alcohol. She did her best not to be available whenever something was needed. When we ordered desert, we waited 25 minutes. The desert never arrived...just the check which included the desert. She simply said she forgot and begrudgingly had them removed. As we were leaving the hostess offered us desert at no charge after the show which was unacceptable to our friends. We will not be visiting there again."

"The food was excellent and the menu was varied. Dining before the theatre, the service was very good and the waiter accommodated our deadline without making us feel rushed. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other menu selections. The location is very convenient to the Cultural District."

"This has quickly become my favorite downtown restaurant for lunch. It is also terrific for dinner. I was impressed that the waiter remembered the wine I ordered several weeks before on the last occasion I was there."

"My husband has been to the restaurant before but I had not. We went there for dinner to celebrate our 11 year wedding Anniversary and had a fabulous time. The service was great. The food was fantastic. We definitely will return."

"Really enjoyed our first visit to Vallozzi's. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Many creative items on the menu that I'd like to go back and try. My buttermilk fried chicken was delicious."

"Disappointing. Main dining room very noisy and loud. Upscale pricing for average food/service. No wow factor for the price. Many other upscale restaurants nearby that have great food and better ambiance/service that are worth the price, Habitat, Capital Grille, Meat & Potatoes, etc."

"This restaurant was advertised with a 15% coupon in the circular that we recevied with our season tickets for the CLO. We thought we would try it and we were pleasantly surprised how wonderful it was!! We had a waitress that knew the menu, made suggestions and answered our questions with a great attitude and a smile. She also did not rush us through like some places and it was great that the manager came over and asked us about our dinner and experience!"

"The first time I went to Vallozzi's the service was superb. This time the waiter was so harried we had to keep flagging him down to get what we needed. Also, the food was much better the first time. This time I ordered the ravioli with truffle and mushroom. It came with short ribs that over powered the dish that I never tasted any mushroom or truffle and the pasta was swimming in a grease pit. I was disappointed. Previously we had the pizza and I would go back for that. The location is great for shows and they seem to have plenty of room."

"Everything about this was excellant! The food, the drinks, the atmosphere were all exactly what we were looking for. It didn't feel like you were in Pittsburgh, which is sometimes nice. It was definitely pricey, but well worth it. The menu is quite extensive with so much to choose from for both steak & veggie lovers. Try it, you won't be disappointed. We all can't wait to go back!"

"Had the chance to have lunch recently at Vallozzi's. Very comfortable atmosphere and the food was super. I left my choice to our server and was given the crab cake. Excellent and hard to include "cake" with this mouth-watering plate of crab. Get an order of fries, too. Yummy."

"Lunch menu is disappointingly short on lighter options, such as salads. Surprisingly, it was noisier at lunchtime than it normally is in the evening. At dinner, we ask for the back room, which is quieter, and tables are spread out better. That room isn't open at lunchtime, and the tables for 2 are squeezed very close together in the main room. Also very dark, which can be romantic at dinnertime but tends to be depressing at midday. Will return for dinner, not lunch."

"Went for a nice intimate- somewhat romantic dinner before the CLO event - 42st! This is not either. The tables next to us were only a few feet apart. When you are paying $100 for dinner you would expect a more sophisticated experience."

"A professional colleague and I had lunch here during the work week. The service was prompt and courteous. The ambiance was elegant, yet relaxed. The food choices were creative and enticing. I had the vegetarian panini with Portobella mushrooms, red peppers, arugula, fresh mozzarella, and artichoke/olive tapenade. My friend equally was impressed with her meal."

"Hello, This was my first experience at Vallozzi's Pittsburgh and all went very well. I was able to make a reservation very easily and it was honored in a timely manner. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was extremely helpful with our menu choice. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Thanks for a great lunch!!"

"I was a regular at Vallozzi's in Greensburg. Since moving I haven't been able to make the trip to Greensburg more than once in a while. Now the great food and dining experience is available much closer in downtown Pittsburgh. As usual the wine list is superb, the entrees delicious and generous in size and the desserts exquisite. Please make sure to leave room for the bread pudding."

"If you are looking for a relaxed high class meal with attentive (but nut push) staff this is a great option! Every part of the meal was delightful and delicious. Close to Heinz Hall, it is super for a pre or post concert meal. Atmosphere is classy and friendly, tables are not right on top of each other. You'll be glad you tried Vallozzi's, and my guess is you will return!"

"The food was terrific! I loved the idea of picking from the Square. There are 4 items in 4 boxes and you pick one from each box for your lunch entree. It was a perfect amount of food and there were great choices! I also tasted the Lobster Risotto which was delicious!"

"This was our second time to Vallozzi's and we were very disappointed. I went with a small group of ladies and our waiter seemed to try to get us to order expensive things and a lot of them. From bottles of wine to more appetizers to cappuccinos. The food was mediocre this time as well. The Brussel sprouts with pancetta were mushy and the veal scaloppine was tough. I think not will be a while before I go back and will definitely ask not to be seated in this waiter's tables."

"This is our 'go-to' for before theater dining. We get a delicious meal, good service and a great glass of wine...all at a good price. It's convenient to the Cultural District in the downtown area of Pittsburgh. As far as noise level...at peak dinner hours, between 6p and 8p, you are part of a vibrant group of people talking, laughing, and enjoying their evening with family and friends. Personally, that's a plus for me."

"There were more negatives than positives with this, our second visit to Vallozzi's. The most annoying aspect was that we could not make substitutions for side dishes (because "they would have odd side dished left over if they did that" - though other restaurants have absolutely no trouble with such a request)and the pastas were not available as side dishes. The veal dish I had was just OK. Saltimbocca stuffing tasted more like regular ham than prosciutto and the fried chicken came cooked nicely crispy but was topped with a sauce that rendered the crispy coating soggy. Finally, the essentially flavorless cheese cake dessert was topped with an equally flavorless 'blueberry compote'. Returning for a third visit is highly unlikely."

"We had a wonderful dinner at Vallozzi's. The ambience is warm and inviting and we didn't feel as though we were crowded. The whole fish of the day (red mullet) prepared Mediterranean style was perfectly prepared and delicious. We also enjoyed the tomato caprese salad with outstanding buffalo mozzarella. We were most impressed with the extensive wine list, particularly by the bottle. Orin Swift wines are among our favorites and are difficult to find in most Pittsburgh restaurants. Our server was excellent and engaging with just the right amount of personal attention -- he knew both food and wine and it was a pleasure to discuss both with him. It was the first time we have dined at Vallozzi's and we definitely plan to return"

"I think it's a little expensive. The portions are large. Before a show I don't like to eat a lot. Lower portions and prices. Entrees in the $30 plus range are too much. Including a salad, drink and dessert it is too much."

"Cautioned by the poor reviews, we were pleasantly surprised by Vallozzi's. We all had pasta entrees and everyone was very happy with the preparation. However, as the evening went on we developed veal-envy from watching entrees for other tables go by. Service was excellent, as our busy waiter was always there whenever we needed something. The dining room was very attractive, with tables well-spaced, but the restaurant was full on a Saturday night, so the room was pretty loud. The wine list is typical of a top-shelf Italian restaurant, but diverse enough to offer a few bottles suitable for those of us who get sticker shock from the better Italian reds. Prices are high, but warranted. We will return for the veal."

"Althought the ambiance is pleasant enough - it is crowded and really loud. I didn't think our service was awful, but certainly not attentive. The food was fair - I do not think I would recommend this for the prices - Tambellini's is better!!"

"Three of the four meals were bland and served luke warm. The fourth was undercooked Sea Bass. The service was ok: A little slow. Salads were good but overpriced. We were surprised by the poor food because on two prior occassions, the food and service were good."
