"We've eaten here before, and been baffled by the variable service, but always very pleased with the food. This time we went in the evening, in a family group, and it was exceptional on every front. The waiter, Pierre, was charming and helpful (his colleague, Guillaume, is another credit to his profession). The Sancerre is the best we have ever tasted. Two of us started with gazpacho, bursting with flavour. The scallops were succulent and fresh. Entrees: the chicken was, our teenagers confirmed, the best ever. The shrimp special - 'en cocotte' - absolutely superb. The chocolate soufflé lived up to expectation: the dish was scraped clean. M. Giraud was on hand, a proud and happy patron. The best food in the Palisades, by some distance."

"On the third Thursday of each month Chef Alain Giraurd has a prix fixe tasting menu. It was excellent. You can choose
the wine pairing or simply order by the glass or bottle from an impressive wine list. The waiters are just as nice and helpful
as you would hope. When you look out the window you almost imagine the the street is actually the Seine and that you
are in Paris. Wonderful greeting by Chef Alain made everyone feel at home."

"I love this restaurant and have been many times consequently I was surprised at my disappointment on my last visit. The waiter must have been having a bad night. He was not the least bit personable, forgot to put in our pre-order of souffle, and was not particularly apologetic for his mistake. We dined at 7 and the kitchen was already out of the fish special. I will return because I am quite fond of the restaurant's owners and believe in patronizing neighborhood haunts."

"Have not had a better chocolate soufflé ever not even in France. The crab cake appetizer melts on your mouth. Coq a vin was the best. I am a believer I'm French food again"

"We were greeted with warm smiles by the owner and the hostess. The owner is French and so were many of Friday night's dinner guests. The staff are young, enthusiastic, fast and get the details right on the first try. The bibb lettuce salad was nearly a full head of fresh, light greens with a vinagrette a tad bit heavy on the vinegar for my taste, but my wife loved it. The scallops were perfect, but slightly on on the cool side. The bread is excellent as is the butter. I cannot buy butter this flavorful. My wife had salmon which was served over peppers with a pepper/red sauce. Very tasty. I had steak. It was grass fed Angus--a bit cool, chewy and gamey but excellent. The chocolate souffle alone was worth the drive from San Diego."

"Very good preparation and flavors, can get noisy when crowded, large windows make it appear more open than it is. Small menu, but varied and with a couple unique dishes, the salmon tartar is excellent. The wine menu is limited but well varied and usually there is a featured high quality wine that is featured by the carafe and half carafe. On Mondays it is "no corkage" night and all wines are half price. The wine prices are reasonable to begin with and a bargain in a restaurant like this at half price."

"We had a good time there. Giraud offers some of his favorite dishes. The menu is limited, but what we selected was good. Hopefully in the future he will display more of his imagination and talent offering more to his customers. The potential is certainly there for better things to come."

"Maison Giraud was a decent restaurant food-wise but it was overly priced for what it was. Our bill for two people exceeded $300 and was not worth it. The wait staff was fine during the meal but then rushed us out the door because we were nearing their closing time. They literally started flipping the chairs up on the tables all around us. Definitely can't recommend this place and most likely wont be returning."
