Overlooking the beautiful, rolling hills of Diamond Bar, the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch at Cal Poly Pomona boasts one of the valley's most romantic & chic settings. The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch is a student-operated restaurant, serving both lunch and dinner. The restaurant is part of the Hospitality Management curriculum at The Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona. In the restaurant, students rotate weekly through various positions, including management, in order to learn all aspects of a hospitality operation. Some of the finest professionals in the industry facilitate student learning. The faculty team includes Chef Ernie Briones, Lesley Butler, Barbara Jean Bruin and Chef Scott Rudolph.
"I made a reservation for two at 12:45 pm. I had no idea I was reserving on a banquet day, there was no indication or notice. When my brother and I arrived at 12:50 pm and were sat down, we were immediately notified that the food would be taken away in about 20 minutes. My brother and I rushed to fill our multiple plates with all the food we could before it would be taken away. The roast beef was a little chewy but okay. The lamb was good, flavorful. I especially enjoyed the olive oil croutons. The strawberries were very fresh and sweet. And my water with lemon and ice tea had a refreshing taste. I would come again but hopefully at a better time where I wouldn't have to rush to get my food only to let it get cold."

""Learn By Doing" is what you experience at this restaurant tucked away on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. From being greeted by a student, to watching the students prepare and cook the meals, to having them serve and manage - The Ranch continues to be one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal with friends and family; while supporting the work of the students who are majoring in hospitality. The menu choices are diverse along with their wine and beer list. It has always been an enjoyable experience..!"

"Staff did an excellent job of greeting, explaining specials and servicing our tables. we could see they were trying very hard and we had some of the best service we have ever had at the RKR. Besides one prime rib sent back because of being overcooked my prime rib was brought out cold. The odd thing was my potatoes burned my mouth when I tried them. (???) So besides a bit more heat, everything else was very enjoyable. All of the food was tasty and presented well. Cudos to the Chef! p.s. The pre-dinner sparkling was offered and enjoyed but it wasn't clear that there was a charge for it until the bill was presented."

"I understand this is a cooking school restaurant. But, the prix fixe menu price of $35, I expected more. My scallop appetizer was good. The green salad was good but simple. Mahi mahi entrée was a little too sweet. The flavors were good but could of used some more salt. The fish was just slightly overcooked. The berry crumble with ice cream was good. The cheese plate was more than generous amount of cheese and enjoyed the honey with it. However, I have had the Pt. Reyes Blue cheese several times and the menu indicated this was one of the cheeses. It did not taste like it to me. Pt. Reyes does not have a rind on it and all the cheese served had a rind. But, all the cheeses were tasty. I don't think I would go back."

"Training restaurant for HRT (Hotel and Restaurant Management) majors. I wish the restaurant was open more often, but remember, this is a training venue, not a commercial restaurant. Go Cal Poly!"

"The students/staff are very attentive to the customers the very moment the diners walk through the doors. The ambience is inviting. The wine or beer list is extensive but the staff is very helpful in helping as to which beverage is appropriate with your meal. The menu is not as long one might think but each meal is prepared with care and professionalism."

"This restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in the San Gabriel Valley. Located on Cal Poly Campus, Culinary Arts School. We have never had a bad experience and because the waiters and waitreses love what they are doing, they are all very friendly and nice. The only disadvantgage is that they are only open for dinner Wednesday through Friday, limited hours and you need to go on line or call to make sure they are open. If you have not been here it is a must on your list of restaurants to visit."

"The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch is a hidden gem. I can't express how lucky and happy I am that I found it. Who would have ever thought that cuisine as phenomenal as is is on the Cal Poly Pomona campus? Not to mention the fact that the restaurant is run by the students (while overseen by a master chef/professor) - a FANTASTIC experience and helping student in their major. It's a win-win all the way around. HIGHLY recommended."

"Went for the German Wine Maker's dinner and it was a wonderful evening. We tried about 16 wines which was unique for a wine dinner paired with seven courses for only $100. The food quality was very good and the students are taught very well by Barbara Jean Bruin who is amazing."

"Usually the food is superb, but this night in particular it wasn't. The salad was hard to eat and the chicken tasteless, and the chocolate ice cream so salty I drank an entire glass of water after. I usually stick to the steak, which is seriously delicious. One of the best steaks ever made. I'm a huge fan of their banana split dessert but it wasn't offered this quarter. The staff is always friendly and eager to please. The price is rather high for such limited food selection, especially for people with allergies, but it's a beautiful restaurant."

"We try to get to this "student-run" restaurant at Cal Poly Pomona once each quarter. The food has never disappointed and there are good wine and beer selections. It is also fun knowing you are helping with Hotel/Restaurant Management students gain experience in a restaurant setting. We highly recommend it."

"This is an event we never miss. I found this lunch the best yet! I enjoyed the grits, pasta and lamb with all the fixings. The bread pudding dessert was the right way to finish the meal. Hats off to Ms. Butler! We'll see you next quarter..."

"We were there 2/14/13 for my sister's remarriage and it was outstanding. Then just another month later my 2 sisters and I were able to join your wonderful group for the weekday brunch to celebrate our birthdays together, again outstanding! I must say that after eating one of your wonderful meals it spoils me for any other restaurant in San Diego or probably any other place in California. You were all wonderful."

"The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch is definitely a best kept secret. The student-run restaurant is a lab course in Hospitality Management. The food is amazing. Whether it is a soup, entree or dessert, each has a delicious cornucopia of delights. I am a regular. Love it! For some students, it is their first time serving. They approach you with a nervous smile. Even though they are nervous rookies, they do a good job of creating a joyful ambiance."

"Sauce for Sea Bass tasted too floral almost soapy. Appetizer salad and soup were delicious and the H'or deuvres were good. The spoon of olive oil, tomato and cheese taste too strongly of olive oil though. The steak was good perfectly and the Chocolate Pot d'creme was not too sweet and very delicious. If you're alright to spend $50 for a 3 course meal, this is the place to go although their menu is rather limited."

"I have been to the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch four times, and I am never disappointed. The service is entirely run by students, and they are so enthusiastic about what they do. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions. Their Valentine's dinner was absolutely delicious, and I hope that they integrate those items onto the regular menu. You will not be disappointed!"

"Wanted to give it a try. Service is excellent. Waiter was attentive and explained the menu, always came to refill glasses. Food was really good. Seafood de Mare appetizer was excellent that I was licking my plate. Filet Mignon was good. Side dishes were different and didn't know what I was eating until I realized it was potato cheese wedge and spinach quiche. For dessert the Dr. Bob's ice cream with cream puffs were the best and also the chocolate mousse. For the price they charge, the portions are huge. I had to take leftovers home. I would definitely come back."
