Chez Daniel is a traditional French bistro offering authentic French food in an elegant but casual environment. Chez Daniel features an extensive wine list, foreign and domestics beers, and a variety of ports and cognacs. "We went during restaurant week and had a good experience so we decided to return. Upon our return we were not impressed. I had the walleye which was very good but a very small portion and the rice was crunchy. I don't think it was really done. My husband enjoyed his salmon entree but didn't love the pear salad. The thing that made it not such a great experience was our waiter. He would ask a question and then hurry away before we could answer. It was very strange and frustrating. I got the impression that he was in a hurry to get ouside to take a smoking break."

"This was our second visit to Chez Daniel and we will most definitely be back. The restaurant is hidden away in a busy hotel, but from the moment you enter, you feel like you are in a litte neigborhood restaurant in France.
The hostess was very personable and gave us wonderful recommendations for both entrees and wine. My husband had the lamb and really enjoyed it. I ordered the duck, it reminded me of the first time I had duck in France, absolutely delicious. There was a mix-up with my leftovers, but the manager corrected it immediately and sent out another order of the duck to take home.
I loved the sorbet and the chocolate strawberries for dessert, a perfect way to end a lovely evening!"

"Don't know if we would return as the overall service experience was sub par. Waited for about five minutes before we were acknowledged for being seated. Once we were seated server seemed very flustered. Didn't seem busy at the time but perhaps she was the only server. The food was good...especially the salmon...beautiful presentation. I had the walleye which was also quite good. Used to eat Sunday brunch at Chez Daniel and the staff was spot on...what happened?"

"Tops in all respects, including fine value. Hotel parking (when hotel is filled can mean looking for a space, but they are there). If it is not available on the brunch buffet, you do not need it!!! Service is ++; used plates are cleared and beverages refilled without asking. Eggs really made to order, and if you wish a muffin [not out] just ask. Could not be happier in our choice"

"We didn't realize this restaurant was located in an Embassy Suites Hotel. We were dismayed to find a loud party going on right outside the entry, off the central courtyard. It took away from the experience and ambiance. Everything began well for us, with good bread, an interesting menu and specials appealing to both of us. Service was a bit slow and sadly, a few bites into his entree, my husband found two very unappealing hairs in his food. Both of us lost our appetite and called for the check. The restaurant did remove his entree from the bill, but no consideration was given for my mostly uneaten meal. We would not return."

"This visit seemed very average. The food was good the service was a little better than good. There was a private party out in the courtyard and the noise level was quite high. People in the restaurant had to shout to be heard over the party noise and that added to the overall din."

"Chez Daniel lacked any real redeeming quality. The evening started out with a res @ 7, but the restaurant was unable to seat us till 8. The only semblance of an apology to this was the hostess saying. They had many walk-ins and it wasn't her fault

"I had made a reservation for us, and we had to wait for 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The restaurant is pretty small and they obviously don't save tables for those of us who do make reservations. After we were seated, we probably had to wait another 15 minutes before the waiter acknowledged us. There were guys refilling our waters and bringing us more bread who were very on top of things and deserved the tip rather than the waiter. The food was very food, the service- not so much."

"We enjoyed everything about our meal there! We were celebrating my friend's Interior Design test and each course was fit for the occasion.
We started with Pate which was very tasty! The baguette was fresh and delicious, less crusty than I like sometimes but so good. I chose Chicken En Croute for my entree and my friend chose the Brie Chicken. Both of us ate nearly all of our plate! Because our food was so good, we took a dessert home to share later.
Our server was excellent and very attentive to us. He made recommendations, was very friendly but also did not bother us too much either, which we appreciated.
I would definitely go back because of the quality of the service and the food!"

"The wine list is small. It's in an Embassy Suites hotel in a rather inconvenient location. Yet, it's a great place to dine - our new favorite French restaurant in the Twin Cities. Foie gras was good, not great. French onion soup was great. Sea bass may have been the best preparation my wife has ever had. The shrimp and scallop entree was excellent, served with a sauce (which was oversalted, sadly) French lentils, sausages and fingerling potatoes. Portion sizes are actually too big, but most people in the mid-west won't complain about that. Food is prepared perfectly - shrimp, scallops, and sea bass were tender and not overdone. We will definitely be back."

"It was our second visit, our first time was during a blizzard and we thought perhaps the fabulous service was the result of there not being many customers. We were wrong! We went for Easter brunch and the place was full but the courtyard tables were arranged so as not to incur the "excuse me, excuse me" while balancing your items on the return from the buffet. Our cups and glasses were never allowed to get empty and the staff really seemed positive and ready to serve and worked great with each other!"

"My friends and I ate Easter Dinner at Chez Daniel and were disappointed. They were very busy but our server was seldom available to us. She was slow to deliver beverages, both champagne (which was charged for with the meal) and coffee. She seemed more interested in a young man sitting at the bar. The cost posted at the hostess desk was $36.95/person; we were billed $38.95/person. The manager did correct that for us prior to leaving. And last, too many unsupervised kids with their hands in the food...gross! Definitely a health care disaster in the making."

"We brought 2 of our friends with us for the Easter Brunch on March 31st, and our expeience was not very good. We ended up getting seated in the bar area, up a level, right by the front door, lobby area. It was so cold, and windy throughout our whole meal.
There were also alot of children running around coming from the swimming pool, very loud, seemed very disorganized.
Then we were all surprised to find out you were not serving Ham or Turkey at the Brunch, we all find that very odd. Also the price of the Brunch was extremely high."

"Food was marvelous. Not trendy, classic and perfectly prepared. The three appetizers we chose were amazing. The huge scallops melted in your mouth. The shrimp were so large they required cutting into bite sizes - tender and tasty. The three salads we chose were also the nicest pairings I have had lately. Dinner was so nice, we went the following day for probably the finest brunch I have had in 25 years. I am in a wheelchair and they nicely accommodated the three of us. Oh, and if you go for brunch don't miss the brie or gooey goat cheese on a fresh croissant. And our waiter was that perfect combination of "always anticipating your needs and unobtrusive." All staff was friendly and professional."

"Best brunch in the twin cities. We have been to them all. Has an omelet bar, prime rib on Sundays, large shrimp, salads, breakfast and dinner choices, and a table of desserts. They have very high standards, not ordinary food. For Sunday brunch, you must have reservations because it is very popular. Wonderful ambiance in restaurant or in natural light atrium. Service has improved immensely in the last year during brunch. Food was always excellent. This is a five star restaurant, and I have only given that to one other restaurant."
