New York’s new favorite wine bar is nestled just off Broadway and ideal for any time of day. With a delectable small and large plates menu of regional American, coupled with creative cocktails, and a wine program by Master Sommelier Emily Wines, NIOS is a destination not to be missed. Whether you’re going to the theater or looking to lounge and socialize over great wines in a warm and inviting environment, NIOS has something for everyone.
"My mom and I were in NYC for a getaway and had great meals leading up to Nios. We wanted something close to the hotel and found Nios, with pretty low expectations. We were really pleasantly surprised. I had a nice Rose and my mom had a great dirty martini. We sat at the bar; bartender was attentive. We had a flatbread, the turkey club and goat cheese and beet salad. We really, really enjoyed everything (I'm picky!). It was simple, tasty and nice portions."

"Eating an expensive dinner with a quite top of the line wine list you should not have irritating views in front of your eyes. During the evening it looked almost as if the bar was the meeting place for appointments. Couples lively act as if they were in the hotel room and not in a public bar and having this view trying to concentrate in the good food was very disturbing. You can say...dont look....but the distance between the tables and the bar is very limited so you couldnt avoid it. I think it was very pore by the staff not acting and allowed the bar area to be a 6 club. Maybe we only had bad luck but that dont help us."

"I dined at Nios with 5 other ladies for a birthday dinner on May 14th. A couple of us have been to Nios multiple times because we love the environment and the food. But mostly we love the service; particularly a server named Victor. As usual the food was great, the atmosphere was lovely, but the service was subpar and not at all what we're used to at Nios. Our server Alfredo was not attentive, he lacked energy, and generally seemed like he didn't want to be there. Of course we still love Nios, but our experience could have been better. Hopefully next time Victor will be there!"

"Always delicious and convenient. Had corn soup which was delicious and a club sandwich with a glass of wine.Power lunch for $25.00 and and added sorbet which we shared. Out in an hour and 15. Have been before and will go again."

"I love bringing friends to Nios, especially if it their first time. Our group was split on Saturday evening: four newbies, and three former customers. The table was not one long table for the seven of us - it was set up as a square so we could all speak with each other. The prefixe menu was wonderful and there was something for everyone, no matter what their dietary needs. EVERYONE was happy with everything. Our beverage glasses were always filled, and the waiters were knowledgeable about every detail on the menu. All of our meals were heavenly - no one had any leftovers! We all loved our appetizers, entrees, and the desserts.
I look forward to returning again and again."

"We had a splendid time at NIOS. The food was very good. The service -- thanks to Victor, our exceptionally charming waiter -- was exceptional. As we had an 8pm reservation, the pre-theater crowd has left. So the restaurant was delightfully noise-free. (Not sure what it would be like when full...). We will go back!"

"Headed to NIOS before going to see a show. It took a while to get our food and we only ordered entrees. The restaurant was not even close to being full so we were kind of surprised. Since we had to make the show we couldn't even order dessert. The restaurant should make sure to know who's going to broadway. The food was fairly good. The spinach ravioli was good, but you could tell the sauce was missing something. My skirt steak was good but they could've picked a better piece of meat. Further, the menu said it came with figs which was why I ordered the dish, but there were no figs or fig taste. Overall, it was a good meal and probably a better option given the touristy nature of other theater district spots, but nothing special."

"First time at Nios, before the Leonard Cohen concert at Radio City. Got there on a Saturday before the Saturday night crowd but had an extremely pleasant experience in every way. Service was good to begin with but the Manager (Nick) made sure at every turn that things were proceeding to our (party of 3) satisfaction.
Food was good--a 3 course fixed price menu--but could have used a bit more quantity. Appetizer (Soup)/Entree/Dessert were tasty.
Can't quite give it a great except for service. I can say for sure we'd like to get back there some day."

"The seafood appetizer was outstanding. Te salmon entree as well as the risotto were equally excellent. We were all pleasantly surprised at this great find so close to all the broadway theater. We will definitely return to sample the rest of the menu."

"Was here with 2 friends for dinner prior to going to the theatre. We all enjoyed our entrees and my organic greens salad was just right. We were seated in the back room and the front and bar area was a bit noisy with the St. Pat's celebrants. My only disappointment was the glass of Chardonnay at $14. It had nothing to it. I wouldn't have it again for $2. That vineyard and year should be eliminated from their list. Nios is part of the Muse Hotel and in the theatre district so it's quite convenient."

"Came in for a solo dinner. Ordered coffee, the Kobe beef sliders and the truffle fries. The coffee never showed up, the truffle fries had no hint of truffle (I actually asked the waiter if there was truffle oil, just to make sure he hadn't heard me order just "fries"). He nodded and walked away without asking why I was checking. My sliders were ok, nothing special.
The waiter barely stopped by. Like I said, coffee never came. Meanwhile, he waited hand and foot on the solo diner next to me, who also had the executive sous chef come to serve her two dishes personally - which was pretty offensive. She may have been someone special, who knows? But it made me feel second rate. All in all, a very disappointing experience."

"I thought this place was okay. It wasn't bad by any means but didn't stand out either. I would still consider returning just to see if I caught them on an off night given some of the other reviews. They have a very good selection of scotch."

"We discovered Nios last year as a perfect pretheater dining experience. The food was excellent and their back room quiet allowing for conversation.this restaurant is part of the Muse Hotel, which makes it a very busy bar scene after 5:30...so requesting back room Becomes a requirement. I have done so twice in the last month, arrived to find a party in the back area, and we We're sent to the bar area...still good food BUT way too noisy. They need to decide if they a a bar or a restaurant. And they should have emailed me back saying my request could not be granted. Bad form for Open Table. Not sure we will go back altho the food was still very good! You decide!"

"Best salmon that I have had in a long time. Really great spot for dinner. A bit dark, grayish lighting doesn't help either reading the menu or seeing your food. That is one thing they need to deal with. I would also say the hotel itself is wonderful. Nice size rooms for midtown, wine get together on weekends and friendly staff."

"Had breakfast here and it was just OK. Nothing to rave about and would not have gone if I was not staying in the hotel. With so many options right out the door there is no good reason to go here as it is triple the cost of going to another better place."

"This is a nice restaurant in a hotel. Nice quiet atmosphere. We had the prix fixe option before going to a show. The choices were fine, but not memorable. Good service; good wine list; a little pricey for what you got."

"Solid choice for before a show in Times Square. Nothing out-of-this-world, but good food without the Times Square bustle. Although it's in a hotel, most toursits would never think to come here as a destination, so a savvy New Yorker can enjoy an entree and a glass of wine in relative peace."
