"Three in our group thought the food was excellent-each was at the higher price points. I ordered the rib eye and fries... The steak was drastically overcooked, not even a hint of pink for a medium preference. The cut looked unappetizing...very thin, kind of "bubbly" on top, and tough.
Service was excellent. We had a 5:45 reservation and were given time to enjoy our cocktails and not rushed at all through the meal even though they were booked for the evening until 9 PM"

"Asked by our server if we were celebrating a special occasion, we said yes. The results were a glass of bubbly for each of us to start the evening and then a complimentary, well-presented desert to cap it off. We were looking for a place where we could talk, a place where the food and service would compliment the occasion, and a place where the place would take a back-seat to our celebration (i.e. understated but very well done)... we found it. You can never go wrong by recommending the Mason Street Grill!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The wait staff were pleasant, professional, and quick. Our three courses were served timely and delicious. The ambiance provides an older but edgy look, reminding me of 'Goodfellas.' The prices are definitely expensive, which makes Mason Street Grill more of a 'special occasion' destination. I personally recommend trying the Chopped Steak (more for its fantastic sauce!) and the carrot cake (the best I have ever had!)."

"The dining experience was overall good however reservations were 7:15 and we didn't sit down til after 8:15 (had to go over to the host stand and ask for the table status TWICE) and while waiting at the bar the service was less than stellar HOWEVER it was downtown dining week so hopefully on a regular week the service and hosting can match the decor and ambiance of the restaurant."

"As it turned out, our anniversary was during this week and I had heard that Mason Street Grill was good but pricey, but with the specials, we were able to celebrate there. We had a drink at the bar during their Happy Hour, and then went to our reserved table. The waitress brought us a flute of champagne (the bartender remembered us talking) and took our orders. We were not rushed and completely enjoyed our evening. All our food choices were excellent."

"As always, the service was supreme and the atmosphere upper class. My appetizer beignet was not only beautifully presented, but delicious with just the right amount of cheese. The filet was perfection and the twice-baked potato was a surprise treat. Grilled asparagus - Oh, my, it was tasty. I'm so predictable with dessert. How can one not request the world's best carrot cake!!! Yes, we will be back, again, and again. Thank you for such affordable fine dining!"

"The elegant yet inviting atmosphere welcomed us as soon as we arrived. We enjoyed the setting and felt very comfortable all evening. Our food was for the most part very good. The small ribeye was not as tender as expected. The wine and desserts were excellent. The espresso machine apparently wasn't working properly. "My wife and I dined at Mason Street Grill to celebrate a special birthday. Very lively and busy, but the server was prompt and attentive. Was able to order a Pinos Gris by the glass (can rarely do this outside of Oregon). Chopped salad was superb. Veal and steak done just right and tasty. We have been here several times and will return. One of the classiest restaurants in Milwaukee."

"The Filet Mignon (med rare) was excellent with or without the Maytag Bleu on top. The French Onion Soup was also very nice. The Onion Rings could have been more flavorful but were acceptable. "Experience was a fairly good, food and beverages were very good. Reservationa was a little later in the evening (8:15 pm) so we missed the peak dinner crowd on a Saturday night. Unfortunately the highlight of the evening was waiting an inordinate amount of time for dessert after our main course - despite the thinning crowd it was ridiculously unacceptable to wait nearly 10 minutes for coffee and a slice of key lime.
The Unprofessional Kiss of Death: a staff member walking a vacuum cleaner down center aisle of tables/diners at 9:15 pm....WOW, really for a higher priced restaurant the manager should know better! Then everyone got to enjoy a free show as staff vacuumed the glass enclosed private party room visible to all diners - CLASSY!!"

"We were there to celebrate a friend's bday...I had asked that a littel 'surprise' be made for him. At the end of our fantastic meal, we all were treated to a glass of champagne....what a wonderful 'surprise'!!"

"We had a great overall meal to celebrate my daughter winning an art contest. I informed the staff of the occasion, and they joined in too help the celebration. All food was very good from appetizers to a complimentary dessert tray. Very fun and delicious meal !"

"Outstanding service and amazing food! Very helpful and friendly staff. I couldn't believe how well cooked the steak was, and as a Marylander I can say their crab cake is spot on the way it SHOULD be (big chunks of crab)! The margherita flatbread and goat cheese ravioli option were also really delicious, for the vegetarians in your party."

"We were greated very warmly as soon as we walked in - and were taken immediately to our table. Wait staff was super! They knew what we needed before we had to ask: our drinks were refilled immediately; new silverware arrived before every course. I ordered pasta dish and it was very very good. Mashed potatoes were done to perfection. My fiancee ordered a steak and said, "this is by far the best meal I've ever had"."

"Food was very good and would have been great, except all 4 of our meal orders were missing things and had to be taken back to the kitchen. When we did get our food, the flavor was fantastic, but it was only mildly warm. Pretty disappointing for a $50 steak.
The hostess stand was not well managed. Employees appeared to be inexperienced and disorganized.
Our waiter, although very nice, was obviously new, super nervous and not very effective.
The decor was attractive, but it was a bit too light for good ambiance, in my opinion.
I would go back and give it a second try. If I have a second similar experience, I would probably be done there."

"My husband and I attended for our Anniversary, and we were so impressed! He had ordered surprise flowers for me, and even though we were early for our reservation, they were there on our table waiting for me! The service was outstanding, our waiter was very knowledgable about the food and the wine list and he was very courteous and attentive. The food was incredible, and completely worth the money spent. We will definitely be returning!"

"Good variety on menu but everything was overpriced. The best items we had were the scallops ($13 add on to a steak dinner but only received two good sized scallops for that amount) and the chopped salad with fresh horseradish. Wife and I split the 16 oz. ribeye and it was just okay. Drink and wine menu were excellent but again overpriced. Would I recommend? For a special occasion yes. We did enjoy the evening and the location was convenient to everything downtown."

"Our first experience at Mason Street Grill. When we were seated we were mousse
asked if we were celebrating anything. It was my birthday. Our waiter surprised us at the end of our meal with a delicious chocolate mousse with candle and happy birthday written on the plate in chocolate-on the house.
Service was wonderful, food was delicious and beautifully presented.
We would definitely recommend!"

"This was a special occasion so we tried out Mason Street Grill. The food was ok but I expected more for the price. The waiter was very attentive. The creamed spinach was a too salty and I love salt. The mustard and horseradish dressing was overpowering to the point that neither of us could finish the salad. I should have given feedback to the waiter but he was wonderful and it wasn't his fault the food wasn't. The peppercorn sauce for my steak was fantastic! My friend had the filet medallions and said they were wonderful. Please be careful walking on the wood floors in the bar and dining area, they are very slick for heels."

Secondly, I asked for a table off to the side, since this was a special night, but instead we got one near the kitchen entrance, so it was loud mostly all night. Our orders took forever to receive, while three tables of two to four customers were seated after us and they got their meals before us and overpriced! We've been to the Grand Geneva, MUCH better.
Now, our waiter was a great guy, kept us informed of when food was coming etc, friendly, courteous and funny, Alex-I beleive... great guy ! and the hostess, Danielle, she was nice also !"

"A bit noisy as there was a party that got seated at multiple tables across the aisle and a few kids running around. Not too loud, but louder than expected. Server was amazing. Hostess was ok. Showed up 5 minutes before our reservation time and were told to come back. Got drinks and came back at our reservation time and still had to wait 5 minutes. The wait is understandable just the way we were told to "come back at" our reservation time felt rude. The food was to die for and our server was amazing. Even though I highlighted our issues the experience was overall amazing."

"My husband splurged on a $50 steak. We had to send it back bc is was over cooked. They were extremely apologetic and the next steak was perfect. Our side of delmonico potatoes was cold in the middle. Goat cheese appetizer was just ok. Overall food was yummy. Service was wonderful. But I feel like they made a couple inexcusable mistakes for how expensive it was. Dessert was also delicious. We would not go back though. Not good enough to spend so much."
