Brandywine Prime
Located in the heart of the Brandywine Valley, this modern American steakhouse is a short drive from Philadelphia, the Main Line or Wilmington. The complete redo of the 300 year old Chadds Ford Inn has created an excellent canvas with which to paint. The cuisine is strictly twenty-first century with an emphasis not only top quality cuts of beef, like the 10 oz. barrel cut ribeye, but fresh seasonal seafood, like soft-shell crabs and wild salmon. The comfortable bar beckons you in with a Best of Philly burger, ahi tuna club and a local draft beer. Creative sandwiches, great happy hour specials and great steaks ensure we have something for everyone. "We had a fabulous dinner with some out of town guests we were meeting for the first time. The meal was wonderful, the service very professional and the owner making an appearance at our table was an extra treat. We were torn over what was more delicious, the steak (men's choice) or seafood (women's choice). We all agreed the dessert was amazing! We would definitely recommend Brandywine Prime to anyone who appreciates fine food, service and ambiance."

"Our Mother's Day dinner at Brandywine Prime was really great. I appreciated that, in addition to the special buffet, they also offered their regular dinner menu, and didn't increase prices because of the holiday, as many restaurants do. Service was excellent, as were all the appetizers and entrees, especially the mushroom tart, short ribs, and shrimp with lobster risotto. Atmosphere is very nice. I highly recommend Brandywine Prime."

"Older kids were happy with the buffet and ate well. Our younger son was harder to satisfy off the menu though there were a couple other selections that would have worked for him he just did not like the way his food came. Very picky & Grumpy on that day specifically!!
Mom was very pleased and had a great meal and a very nice cocktail to get things started. Overall we had a great dinner and are looking forwards to coming back for a dinner off the menu or enjoying some seasonal specials."

"We came for the Mother's Day dinner buffet with high expectations and was sorely disappointed with the food. The selection was limited at best and the food was cold and tasteless. Our waiter never told us about the specials but we overheard him tell the party next to us. To his defense we did tell him that we wanted the buffet, but I would have gotten one of the specials after I saw the buffet. For the price of the buffet there should have been more choices. It was just disappointing. We were 2 single women with no children looking for a good meal and ambiance."

"Was Mothers Day and very busy nevertheless staff seemed overwhelmed. Took us forever to get a glass of wine and the check at the end of the meal which was a buffet, so shouldn't be that difficult to visit the tble every once and awhile. Bread delivered when meal halfway through. We have eaten here on a regular night ordering g from the menu and its fine. Somehow the buffet was a different experience. Food good"

"We went on a weekday night that was pretty busy due to people from a tour dining at Brandywine Prime. Service was very good and our meals (a perfectly - done strip steak with a side of mushrooms and a lovely wild salmon) were great. I had the asparagus soup with crab to start and it had good asparagus flavor, something often missing at other restaurants. Very nice experience."

"We had been looking to try Brandywine Prime for a long time and finally had the chance last week. The atmosphere was great - many rooms plus a cool bar area. Dinner was very good - I had the special salad of the evening - heirloom tomatoes and house made mozzarella - really tasty, and a perfectly cooked filet. My wife had the trout and really enjoyed it. Service was great too. Would definitely go again."

"When the restaurant called to confirm our reservation, they offered us a private room, at no charge, for our group of 8. The upstairs, private room was perfect for our business dinner. The ambiance in every part of the restaurant was great - you can almost feel the history in and around the building. The service was wonderful - the waiter was super friendly and attentive. And the food was utterly fantastic!! I would recommend Brandywine Prime for any occasion - from an intimate dinner to a larger group event."

"I like this place, I'll keep coming back. Finally went to brunch there, which is my vegetarian co-worker suggested BwP in the first place.
It's an interesting deal, where there is a buffet so certain things like salad/desert/cheese/soup, but you order a main course. So it helps to keep you from way overdoing it, plus there are just some things that will not work on a buffet anyway, eggs benedict for instance. Food coming off the line, instead of cooked in mass to be served in a hotel pan, from my experience is typically far better as well.
It's possible it deserves higher marks, but earlier this week I was at two one-star places in nyc, so this review might suffer from comparisons to those places."

"Unequivocally one of the best meals, ever. Everything was in impeccable balance: chef, waitstaff, ambiance, appetizers, entrees, desserts. The meal afforded the palette a wonderful expression of texture, flavor and presentation. The baby octopus salad was easily the most tender octopus I have ever enjoyed. The prime cut steak was tender and flavorful. The seasoning allowed the succulence of the steak to linger on the palette perfectly. The accompanying beans and lobster mashed potatoes added grace and elegance to dining experience. Ask to be seated at a table served by Micheal. The best!"

"Shrimp with lobster risotto was very good. The pork chop was cooked just right, but the beans were a little too crunchy for my husband's taste. Side of parm fries was mediocre, but the sauteed mushrooms were excellent. We both enjoyed the warm,fresh bread. Definitely would go there again."

"We decided to try the special of the evening, prime rib, french onion soup & it came with a dessert. The seasoning in the soup was very strong, something I've never experienced before and can do without. The prime rib was gristly, tough with little flavor. My husband couldn't even eat his. Neither of us cared for the dessert, sticky bread pudding. It was just okay. We were very disappointed in the food.
Our server was pleasant and attentive. If we ever go back maybe we should try a sandwich. We thought a place called Brandywine Prime would specialize in prime rib but we were wrong."

They had a very nice selection of egg dishes, pancakes, French toast, crab cakes, etc. Really, something for everyone. My bananas foster French toast was very good and the service was excellent. My only real problem was the noise level. There was a large group with a screaming baby."

"We had fantastic and friendly service as soon as we walked in the door. I was there on a date and was a little antsy when I saw how vibrant the bar area was, but we had a table upstairs which was very quiet and enjoyable. "This was the 2nd time my husband and I have been here. The first time we went was for brunch, but dinner was quite different. Outstanding steaks! Food was awesome, we would definitely go back, although the menu was a bit pricy. We eat out often and the prices are just a bit tad high considering you can get a good steak in many places. Loved the atmosphere though, very cozy and quaint. Service was good and the noise level was about right, but the food overall was fabulous."

"The quality of food and service seems to have gone downhill at this historic spot in Chadds Ford. Service was lacking, ( the waiter vanished for long stretches),the wedge salad not too fresh and filet not too tender. Past meals were alot more enjoyable; maybe they had an off night."

"This was our first visit to Brandywine Prime. The Easter brunch included an excellent variety of choices on the buffet and the menu for one price. The food was delicious, especially the mushroom soup and crabcakes. We will definitely consider dining here again based on our experience although it may be a special occasion as the prices are moderate to high for us."

"I went for Easter dinner buffet. The vegetable choices were limited, only salad and asparagus. The mash potatoes were rich and creamy. The shrimp, prime rib, and ham were superb. The dessert options were great. There were a variety of cakes as well as chocolate covered strawberries and fresh fruit. The service was mediocre.
FYI, there are no free refills at this restaurant for soft drinks and for parties 6 or more they add 20% gratuity which makes the bill. Overall I'd come back for the food and ambiance."

"Went for Sunday Brunch, was just okay. Very small buffet with moderate food and dishes you can order from the grill were a little better but again very small portions. In general nothing special and overpriced.

Everything we ordered was delicious and they were very accomodating with requests (putting things on the side, no butter on my steak, steaming the string beans). "We've come here regularly for Sunday brunches for years.Our last few visits have yeilded unpleasant discoveries & this past Sunday was the last straw. They have stopped putting out the Kennett Square Mushroom soup which we adore. Butternut squash soup was simply bland. On the buffet:all lettuce on 1 salad looked like it had been chopped a few days ago as it was very brown; the egg yolks in another salad were neon yeloow and dried out.The made to order entrees were as fresh & delicious as always. We keep noticing that the waffle continues to shrink in size. My husband's omlet was great. The dessert selection is still nice but not exciting. The fruit was mostly not ripe. The creme brulee was mostly liquid."

ahead of time for reservations and indicated it was my wife's birthday. I had requested a small piece of cake prior to coming but it seems that the waiter did not know about the occasion. I thought he would have known which would be transparent to making the reservations but apparently not! However, the atmosphere is nice and quaint. I ordered a ribeye steak which was great! My wife's meal was incredible too. Our waiter was good but could of been a little more engaging, not way he wasn't good!"

"A great thank you to this wonderful establishment. We chose Brandywine Prime for a very important business dinner/meeting. The staff went out of their way to make this meeting a success. Two of our most important guest arrived late due to snow and terrible weather conditions in Massachusetts. They arrived without time to change attire and were under-dressed. The staff quickly picked up on this and treated all of these important business men with respect and provided flawless service."
