"Great food and fantastic service made this a night to remember. The stylish decor and the setting are eye catching even after the sun sets as the 'fires' are lit and add great ambiance. This was our first time eating at RumFire but definitely not our last. The risotto scallops and the poke were the hits of the table. The only complaint from our group is that the washrooms are located outside the restaurant a (very) short walk away. Irrelevant to me and should not take away from the experience."

"We had an early reservation, and few tables were occupied. The hostess steered us opposite the sunset side of the restaurant to the worst table in the restaurant. When we objected, she went to check on another table. We again had to ask for a table by a window, even though some of them were not used the entire time we were there. This was our only negative the entire evening. I would definitely return. The views are lovely. People were lining up outside to see the sunset. I would rather have warm bread than spiced popcorn. We easily shared a romaine salad that was crisp and delicious. My husband's pork chop was out of this world. My monchong was perfectly prepared, with a crab crust and creamy sauce. Portions were generous."

"We read good things about this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Perfect evening. The view is amazing, The Italian waiter we had was very knowledgable, friendly and attentive. Fish dinner and desert were excellent. We went on Wednesday and bottles of wine were 50% discounted so that was a nice surprise. Nice touch with French press coffee. We will definitely return on our next visit. Overall, this was our best dinner experience out of a lot of very good restaurants. A new favorite."

"Located at the Sheraton in Kauai has its advantages. The view of the beach and the sunsets are spectacular, and the service was just as wonderful as the food. I had the opportunity to dine here over several days while working on the island and never had anything but stellar service and impeccably prepared meals. Have the Prime Rib or the daily special which is sure to be a locally caught fish. Request a booth facing the open windows to the west and enjoy watching the sun as it sets in the blue Pacific while sipping on your favorate wine or cocktail. Valet parking is free when dining, but be sure to enjoy sitting by the fire outside and catching that last glimpse of daylight."

"We had a reservation that we had to wait for while the restaurant was empty, than we were seated in the back of restaurant in these odd tables that were like for the kids section that felt completely separated from the rest of the restaurant. Since I could see several empty tables we asked to be moved to sit in the actual restaurant but were told no, there were no available tables. Funny how people with reservations after us were seated in some of those open tables while others remained open until we left. And the food was the most tasteless we had while on the island and rather expensive for what you received. The server was responsive and did a good job but should have listened to our valets at our hotel – they said it was a hit or miss p"

"Beautiful setting with the waves of Poipu Beach lapping outside the windows. Start with a RumFire Mango Mojito or wine from their huge selection. The sea scallops with edamame risotto were the best I've had on the island. The Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection, with a lemon-chardonnay sauce. I will certainly go back to try other dishes on the menu, or have the catch of the day."

"The service really detracted from what would otherwise be a great restaurant experience -- but it was not the fault of the server. We ordered appetizers which did not come, and the main course arrived soon after the drinks were served. Then we were pretty well left alone. But,and this is the point, she was pouring water and clearing plates, plus her territory seemed quite extensive. I consider this to be a failure of management, not the individual server. Penny saved, pound foolish"

"My wife and I are definitely confounded by several of the reviews we read about Rum Fire! We spent three weeks in the Poipu area and ate at all of the highly regarded food establishments (Red Salt, Merriman's, the Beach House, etc.). Rum Fire ranked near the top. The food was remarkable, our waiter very attentive and the wait for our reservation was five minutes. Our only disappointment was that we ate here on our last night which meant we could not return until our next visit to the Garden Isle."

"I was vey impressed by Rumfire. The re-model, the view, ambiance were exceptional. The music provided by a very talented guitarist was beautiful. For my husband and I, the menu was perfect...gourmet items for the foodie (me!), and delicious flatbreads (pizza) for the less adventurous (my husband). Likewise...items up to $$$, but also down to $. So, something for everyone. Service, though, was slow, and our server did not seem to know the menu, preparation of the food, nor was she excited about it...very hum drum. With great service, this place could rival the best on the island."

"The decor is very modern but comfortable. The food was very well prepared, but what made the experience worth coming back was the attentiveness of our server, Genea. When we arrived, the music in our area was much too loud, but she quickly was able to get it adjusted down to an appropriate level. Then, our group of 6 each had custom requests. Well, she was able to deal with these and deliver with a very good attitude and smile. In the end, she asked if we wanted separate bills, one for each couple. This was all handled so professionally. Of course, the ocean and sunset view are incredible, if you get one of the many tables with a good view.
Our second great experience at this restaurant, so we will ecommend to anyone who asks."

"We've eaten here 3 times and the service was slow each time, but better the last time. The best views are from the lower booths, which have a great sunset view down the beach, but because of the way they assign waiters to various tables in the upper/lower area, you don't see your waiter very often. They should re-think this. The waiters are friendly and good when they are there, but you just don't see them often.
Be forewarned that when they say 'open at 5:30pm,' they mean they don't unlock the doors until then, so don't go early expecting to have a drink at the bar while you wait.
Food is good, drinks are interesting, and the pineapple sorbet dessert is the best sorbet I've had in recent history. Interesting and flavorful--save room."

"Upon arrival, we instantly noticed the view, which was beautiful even though we did not have a table by the window. However, as the restaurants is huge, some people only get the kitchen view. The service was very poor, lacking in all areas, especially for what is expected from a hotel of this standing. The wait staff kept confusing the tables, bringing cutlery and drinks in their bare hands, breaking glasses (happened at least 4 times as far as we recall) and having personal conversations at high volume. The food was inconsistent, only the main course being of quality. The lighting was a neon blue, making it impossible to identify the meal. The bar in the middle of the restaurant was crowded, noisy and had a TV, which ruined the ambiance."

"We really had a great dinner. The food was great, we were so lucky to get a window table, so we enjoyed the view too. Our server was very attentive, even though they were busy I never felt I was missing anything. I loved my cast iron chicken the ginger glaze was awesome. I especially liked that they had a number of gluten free items to choose from, I was able to enjoy three courses all gluten free. I live on the Northshore of Kauai, but will be back again next time I am on the South Shore."

"We come to Kauai a lot and have our favorite restaurants and try a "new one" (for us) each time - Rum Fire was 'it' for this trip. We were very pleased. We reserved late so didn't get a prime seating spot (near windows with gorgeous oceanfront views - that match the Beach House) but were in a nice quiet niche with a bit of beach view so we were happy and it got dark soon anyway. After days of eating out, we were thrilled to see the offerings of 'flatbreads' - little thin crusted pizzas. 4 of us ended up getting one each. Very reasonably priced (for the island - and cheaper than a night time sandwich at Breneckes and a bit more special) and tasty and filling. We had a bottle of wine and got complementary sparkling water (nice touch)."
